Fyve at The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon Citycheck-in poorSeveral times I have had problems with check-in. Waiters on phone and do not acknowledge you. Often told I do not have reservation because they do not take the time to look it up. Was expecting a guest and asked the waiter to keep a look out for her. Another waiter immediately seated her and told her there was no other person waiting for someone without even checking, not did he look up the reservation. We waited for each other in separate dining rooms for over 15 minutes. Not good. I am disabled and use valet parking. There was a minor issue with part of our dinner, but the restaurant more than made up for it. Everything was delicious from the eggs benedict to the shrimp and crab cocktail with cognac sauce to the belgian waffles with homemade whipped cream. The live jazz added a great ambience and the servers were always nearby with more fresh squeezed orange juice or mimosas. The food was outstanding, as was the service. There was so much attention to detail with the food, and everything was better than we expected. They really made it a special occasion for us. The only drawback was the dining room itself. The lighting and the ambiance were not great. The tuna was seared to perfection, and was an ample serving. Rather than bland boiled potatoes, they had perfect squares of potatoe that were sauteed. Green beans were fresh; kalamata olives; and red peppers. The greens were crisp and the dressing was light.
