  • "If not for Open Table, we would never have gone to eat here just passing by. It is removed from the heavily foot trafficked streets nearby and has no curb appeal out front. You can only see a small bar from the street, so we were hesitant to go in but because we made the reservations, decided to honor it. We entered, with no one to greet us, passed through the bar area and noticed a hidden dining room in the back. There needs a sign at the front door to say this. My husband had a spicy seafood dish and my daughter had a beef stirfry( Lomo Saltado), and I had ribeye steak with beans and rice. The cuts of meat are very chewy and is expensive for what you get. The dulce de leche crepes were the winner of the night. Try for lunch."

  • "this place doesn't look like much when you first walk in. There is a counter and a long hall. Keep walking and you find yourself in a warm and inviting room. Our waiter was all smiles and very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu. Food was great, steak and eggs for dinner!! If you are an adult, try the second Sour drink on the menu.. (alcohol).. had to get two.. and I swear there is a dash of Tapatio in the center of it. we will definitely go back."

  • "Enjoyed all of our selections, all quite delicious. Ceviche was meaty, generous portion. My date ordered the Parrillada plate, the flavors across the board were excellent. The anticuchos were perfectly prepared & cooked, fantastic! Only the salad lacked any interest. Arroz con Mariscos (Paella)was perfect! Nice texture, lots of tasty seafood, fish melted like butter in my mouth. We finished with El Limeno, suggested by our waiter and a very nice finish. All of this would have been even more enjoyable if the space lived up to the food. Not very romantic and the addition of even just one other table made it loud. I'd hate to see the dining room full!"

  • "Went here for dinner on Valentines Day, 2014. food was good and the restrauant was very busy. Staff was very friendly and service was excellent. For dinner I had the "Parrillada de Mariscos" which is an assorted seafood dish. It was very spicy, salty and dry to taste. This is the first time I have had this dish so I do not have anything to compare it with. My wife had the, "Lomo Saltado." She said the sause was perfect and the meat was good. One last thing. I thought the menu was hard to read (at least for me) because the print was small and it was covered in a plastic cover. Had to use the light on my IPhone to read it. I recommend reservations if you go. The Fusion seems to be an up and coming resturant in San Mateo. We will go again."

  • "Dinner was excellent. Ceviche was fresh, steak and fish entrees delicious, sides very good. Bring your own wine though. We ordered a Syrah from Peru, not sure what we got as bottle was open when brought to table and cork did not match the label. Service was ok, it was a busy night."

  • "The restaurant is surprising. Upon first entering, it appears to be quite small and smokey. The back of the restaurant opens up and there is a good size dining room. We dined here on Valentine's day and perhaps they weren't expecting such a packed house. It took at least 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. The waiter finally approached our table and took our order. While you wait, they bring bread, which arrives with three delicious (and very spicy) dips. The appetizer was huge, but delicious and the food was very good as well. The manager came over to ask if we needed anything, we requested additional dip and another sangria; the extra dip never arrived and the drink took about 15 minutes to arrive. We'll be back though!!"

  • "We were late making a dinner reservation for a romantic Valentine's Day out and had to take the 9 p.m. slot available. Being walking distance from where we live, we were able to add to the charm of the evening with a romantic walk beneath a full moon and clear starlit skies. We were not disappointed by our choice. The food was outstanding - we both had the salmon over creamy quinoa risotto and a glass of Peruvian syrah. And the wait staff was very friendly, patient, and helpful. It was a bit noisy but not overly so. Also, there were several large groups enjoying the night out as well as families with children. Overall, a pleasant neighborhood atmosphere."

  • "We dined at Fusion Peruvian Grill on a Sunday evening, so it was pretty quiet. It looks like a hole in the wall, but keep walking! You have the chance to view the delicious meals as they are being prepared on your way to the dining room. The appetizer sampler was delicious. A nice mix of flavors, mild and slightly spicy. My husband and I split a seafood dish that had a variety of shellfish over a pan fried red snapper in a red sauce. It was flavorful and hearty. They split the dish for us in the kitchen so we did not have to serve from one plate to another. We are new to Peruvian food. The staff was friendly and helpful. I am looking forward to returning and trying some of their other dishes."

  • "The food is outstanding and the service is excellent. Parking is a problem on B Street but worth the challenge of circling the area until you find a spot. The lamb shank and paella-type dishes are heavenly. We've been there for both lunch & dinner and enjoyed each time. Owner Pedro and his staff go out of their way to make this a friendly, neighborhood gem with excellent food and reasonable prices. Each new couple we introduce to this restaurant go back on their own and rave about it to their friends."

  • "From East 3rd Ave drive on B Street until you see Carniceria Mi Rancho. Next to this on the right, is the small front of Fusion Peruvian Grill. Bar in front, with dining room in back. A "must " on your visit includes a carafe of red sangria (best I've had, so delicious and fruity), Fusion Sampler (gives you a taste of several wonderful bites), 1/2 Pollo a la Brasa (our sides were plantains and rice), and Mil Hojas (1,000 sheets cake with vanilla ice cream) for dessert! You will not leave disappointed! Being off the beaten path allows for smaller crowds, and lots of free street parking. But does not sacrifice a wonderful dining experience! Service is good, and they'll gladly answer any questions you have regarding the menu."
