FUNISTRADA ALWAYS HAS CONSISTENTLY GOOD FOOD. HOWEVER, RECENT FOOD PRICE INCREASES HAVE DEFINITELY MADE THE MENU PRICES CLIMB UPWARDS. THEREFORE, IT HAS CHANGED FROM A PLACE WE WOULD GO WEEKLY TO A PLACE WE GO ONLY OCCASIONALLY.

From reading other reviews, we expected Funistrada to be good, and it was! My pasta was a special of the day and included penne pasta, white beans and sausage in a garlic butter sauce. It was delicious. My husband had the Anniversary Chicken, and he loved it! We'll be back next year.

We were staying in the Empire, MI area and Funistrada came up during a review of where to eat on a Sunday evening. Tucked away in the small village of Glen Arbor, you could almost miss it, but we're glad we gave it a try, it was just a short drive away and the experience was great. It was busy, surprising for a Sunday evening post season. We were greeted warmly, they have a very varied wine list and their menu offerings made for a difficult selection ... we wanted to try them all. We settled for the duck and veal, both were excellently prepared. The ambiance was excellent ... a wonderful dining experience in a small, local restaurant ... bravo!

Funistrada did not disappoint! It is a small, intimate dining experience with wonderful food. Our server, Hailey was wonderful and assisted with our choices. Nice choices, with daily specials. Food was delicious. I would recommend a reservation on weekends, as this is a popular spot.

We were introducing another couple touting past successes. It was great being able to walk in and our reserved table ready. The server was friendly and prompt but the experience was down hill from there. Both of our wives had the Salmon Piccata, which was over cooked. I had the veal Piccata, which was tough and may have been due to being over cooked as well. The fourth person had the Eggplant Parmesan, which was one of the specials and who stated that it was very good. All four of us stated that the side pasta was cold. House salad seemed to only have only oil. Now, shame on us for not bringing this to the attention of the server.

We were celebrating a family occasion with a party of six. the relaxed country atmosphere was perfect. Our server was friendly and attentive as well as helpful with the menu. Our favorite dish was the veal saltimbocca which was the best I have had. Our party also enjoyed the veal piccata and the New York strip steak. We topped the evening off with decadent desserts. We will all be back !

Having heard about Funistrada for some years now, we finally found a day and time to try it. Reservations are a must, and need to be done far in advance as it is a popular place. We were ushered to our table, treated very well, and had a marvelous meal. It lived up to its reputation and we shall return.

We have been lucky enough to experience the delicious food at Funistrada for many years. It has become so popular that reservations are needed 7-10 days ahead. We look forward to the specials and both ordered the huntsman- tortellini duck mushrooms and cream. We also had a wonderful bottle of Italian wine and finished the evening with dessert. Great food. Good people.

One might mistake the restaurant for a house along the road withouth the sign. However, the building masks the tremendous food associated with this restaurant. Their Italian cuisine is traditional and well made, and they do have non-italian alternative entrees. We were in the region for 6 days, and had 2 dinners to make sure we were able to enjoy the variety. The restaurant appears to hold 40-50 persons, and it was full by 6 pm both weeknights we dined. Reservations for good dining times is a must, and we would recommend at least a 2 week advance to obtain the time you want. Service was prompt. Parking is somewhat limited, and you may have to park along the main (but not busy) road.

We would not eat here again. We love food and great flavors and I didn't really think there was much of anything "special" on the menus. None of the pastas are made in house. The table next to us ordered the ribeye special and it was literally a slab of meat on a plate with a balsamic reduction and a side plate of spaghetti with marinara. No garnish, no veggies, nothin. Our pasta was not bad. We ordered from the special menu. But like I said, it was nothing that I couldn't get at Carraba's. For the price...ouch! They must feel pretty proud of their food. As for dessert... Lemon cheesecake was delicious. The server said it was made in house.

The food and service at Funistrata really can't be beat. The menu is small but very good and varied. The specials are always different and delicious. Wait staff is professional and friendly. Only downside is the restaurant is small can be crowded when full ( which is always is) and is always noisy. Children are highly discouraged but there were many there and they detract from cozy atmosphere when noisy and poorly behaved. Reservations required.
