Diner Reviews
  • "We'd expect the seafood to be good; after all, Fulton's is a child of Citarella. It is also a very comfortable place for a long lunch with friends. Partly though because it isn't very full. We come often, and only a couple of times have more than a third of the tables been taken. My greatest worry is that, with so few customers, it will close. Which would be a great loss to the neighborhood."

  • "Great wines, yummy food. A great local place on the upper east side."

  • "Great oysters (pricey at $3/ea but there is a happy hour that drops the price to $1/ea). Terrific service. Not an overwhelming menu but everything you'd need. We sat at the windows but it looks like a nice place to sit outside and have a drink and a bite. looks like the locals love the bar."

  • "Fresh fish nicely prepared and other entrees. The menu is not long but has something to please everyone."

  • "Very impressive seafood, excellently prepared and served by friendly, knowledgeable staff in a lovely room. Fulton is not inexpensive, but it delivers real vue for the price. There are more expensive places that do not do nearly as good a job of providing an excellent all around experience. We will surely be back."

  • "Food and service were fine but loud noise from the very close bar area intrudes on the dining experience."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "The food was fabulous. The noise level was absolutely offensive. We will not go back unless something is done to spare the diners from the noise. It was quieter outside the restaurant."

  • "We requested a quiet table against the back wall as my husband is hard of hearing. Told they could not promise a specific table but would try their best to fill our request. On arrival, no empty tables against the back wall so we were given a side table which was very noisy. We requested another table in a semi-alcove and were told, despite repeated requests, that the area was being held for 2 parties of 2. We were still denied a move despite our tables being also able to handle 2 parties of 2 and there being many empty tables in the restaurant. Finally after our many requests, we were moved to the alcove. When leaving amid many empty tables, were told by the manager that the requested was very complicated for them to meet???"

  • "My husband and I made reservations here after a Sunday afternoon visit to a museum. We found the restaurant delightful. The food and service was great! We will return again when in that neighborhood!"

  • "A nice place, nice people, the decor is sad... There is no table cloth... Would have made an amazing difference . It's expensive, the food is ok... But the ambiance is meak."

  • "This restaurant used to have really great food... not anymore. Appetizer okay; entre poor, dessert very good. On balance a "fair" overall."

  • "Fulton is all about quality food, especially fish. Its not about noise or 'being seen'. the fish is the freshest in the city as it is supplied by Citarella fish market, and everything else is of comparable quality. The noise level is civilized."

  • "The usual impeccably fresh fish, well prepared if not the most imaginative. Happy hour is wonderful. $1.50 West Coast oysters and a nice $5 Prosseco. Can't beat that! We will continue to return."

  • "Delicious seafood on the Upper East Side. A charming place to have dinner. Had a very pleasant Restaurant Week meal, but have been there before a few times as well. Definitely worth returning to."

  • "My husband and I prefer seafood restaurants and we need more of these on the upper east side. I ordered the octopus, but was a little disappointed. It was just broiled. It needed some kind of sauce so I dunked it in the amazing olive oil they served with the bread. That did the trick. I had the salmon and again felt it needed something. I did like the side chourizo salad. We also shared the lobster hash. That was amazing. I can't remember what my husband ordered because he devoured his food. He had no complaints. The service was the best I have ever had."

  • "Loved the ambience (quiet on a Thurs afternoon) and the waiter was a doll. The arugula salad was so good that I tried to recreate it at home for dinner the same night. My friend's octopus appetizer was far better than one I had the night before which had cost $2 more than my entire three course lunch at Fulton! The pecan caramel cake dessert was delicious. The only reason I didn't give five full stars is that I didn't feel the sauce on the skate main course really complimented the fish and the bus boy (bus person?) was not really very attentive to our needs. He just needed to pay a bit more attention to what was going on at our table - empty glasses etc. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend Fulton as a good place to go for fish."

  • "Overall, a disappointing experience. Service was poor. Staff was pleasant and well intended, but please don't address me as "dear". That's way too familiar. Food fair. Amateurish without the charm."

  • "I came here for Restaurant Week with one of my best friends. We chose this restaurant based on the fact that it was a place that neither one of us had tried, AND it had AT LEAST 4 Stars on Yelp. After dining here, it's very easy to see how they earned those stars. From beginning to end, the service was impeccable. They were quick, often returning to ask how everything was going, and the food was delicious!! I had the Steamed Mussels as an appetizer, the Shrimp & Pesto Pasta for my entree, and Pecan Pie for dessert. It's weird, because I'm not normally a fan of pecan pie, but theirs is DELICIOUS!!! And then on our way out, the hostess gave us cookies! Such an awesome cute little touch to end the evening. Definitely worth the trip!!!"

  • "Celebrating our anniversary and taking advantage of Restaurant Week, off we went to Fulton. The food was delicious and fresh -- and the whole fish was a good value. We would definitely go back for an occasion (a little pricey for your basic night out). Only issue was that the service was a bit lackadaisical. Water glass went un-refilled; took a long time to pay check; coffee arrived cold (after compromising because the espresso machine was broken). Servers were gathered by the computer in the back talking to each other rather than paying attention to customers, especially later in the evening. But, on the whole, a good experience!"

  • "We made a reservation for four. The service was very attentive. We ordered from the restaurant week menu. The mussels appetizer were midsize tender and delicious and they were given a wonderful flavor by the marinara sauce . We had entrees of skate wing and others had pan seared tuna fish. They were perfectly cooked to the delight of everyone. All was paired with a nice Sangiovese wine. For dessert there was a delicious pecan pie. The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. This is a restaurant we shall return!"

  • "Sometimes you're not in the mood for creative unusual preparations but rather just very fresh seafood simply & perfectly prepared. Their bread is also excellent. Fulton is perfect for such occasions and we are lucky to have it on the UES."

  • "We celebrated Valentine's Day @ Fulton. Dinner consisted of Alaskan Crab, Steamed Lobster & amazing gnocchi. Desert yummy too."

  • "Always excellent fish along with excellent service."

  • "We have been here before and enjoyed it. I believe it's owned by the Citarella people so that would explain the excellent fish. Nice servers and an all around very nice dinner. Well priced for the quality. We will return when we're in the neighborhood."

  • "Notwithstanding its small size and the fact that it is tucked away on a side street on the UES, Fulton is one of the city's best seafood restaurants. You can expect delicately prepared dishes cooked to perfection from an interesting menu, served by a staff that is knowledgeable, professional and very pleasant, in a warm, intimate, and wonderful ambience. Book early in the evening or well in advance. This gem fills up quickly - as well it should. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and went away happy with our individual gifts of homemade chocolate chip cookies. A simple gesture that caps off a great evening."

  • "Fish is impeccable freshness and quality, but preparations were just very good. Delicious pink snapper came with a mushy and slightly incoherent (but tasty) side of sweet potato, bacon and crab. Octopus app good, though slightly dry and a very small portion. Service was slightly stinted though generally efficient. Atmosphere pleasant. A very good, fairly expensive, neighborhood spot."

  • "I have eaten here a few times and every time the meal has been very well prepared. I order fish and am fussy about it's preparation. I have never been disappointed. I gave three gift certificates to this restaurant for the holidays."

  • "I love Fulton's, definitely my favorite place to go when I want to stay in the neighborhood. Perfect menu, great happy hour and wonderful service."

  • "Fulton is always a pleasure. The food is very good. The service is usually quite good. But it is a stand-out for ambiance. Truly, the food is as good as the atmosphere -- but it is easy to find great food in NY. It is, however, difficult to find a warm atmosphere with a sound level that permits conversation."

  • "My husband took our family here for brunch as we have had dinner at Fulton before. It was my birthday and it is a close walk for us. This place is known for its seafood, but they do a lovely brunch also. The kids had pancakes and the steak and eggs, while the adults enjoyed the outstanding lobster Benedict. They also do an excellent crab cake. The restaurant was quiet for New Year's Day, but there were several families enjoying brunch. The staff are always excellent. efficient and pleasant without being obtrusive. This place really is a neighborhood gem."

  • "Great preparation and presentation-brunch, lunch, dinner. The fish-since owned by Citarella- is fab. French toast is the best, mini muffins are divine. Always look forward to our reservation at Fulton."

  • "I have never had a bad meal here. The fish is fresh, and prepared beautifully. Nice wine selection. Service is friendly and they know the menu and can make good suggestions or help understand what is in the dish. It is always a pleasure to eat here!"

  • "The bartenders are the best in the city and always make us feel welcome. They really know their oysters and the happy hour is one of the best. 1.00 oysters that are super fresh. We went for brunch and I had their burger. The burger is huge and delicious and was served with enough fries for both of us to share. My friend had an omelet with bacon and cheese and he said it was perfect. You can't find a better staff than this restaurant. They will treat you like family!"

  • "It's my second time here and I loved it the first time. One salad came out with an ingredient substituted but nobody told us. The salad was returned. What if there was an allergy to the substitution! The other salads had no dressing and when we told the waiter he said there was dressing on it. He brought us dressing which was a balsamic emulsion (dark) so it was obvious no dressing had been applied in the kitchen before serving. Fine once dressed. Main courses broiled fish delicious. Ordered sautéed spinach from the menu but they were out of it too. what can I say this time...except they need to up their game. I love the vibe of this place..very warm and relaxing so I would like to want to go again but not sure."

  • "The food was very good...everything was very enjoyable as far as taste. My only problem was I had to eat alone because the kitchen had prepared one of meals too well done. So I had to eat alone and then watch as we ate the other meal. I understand this happened but at the time we were there the kitchen was not that busy...I will give them a second chance , the food was that good..."

  • "As the name implies, this place is all about FISH - and it is very, very good here - always fresh and expertly prepared. A treat last night were the special of bay scallops - delicious!! The food is a bit pricey, as are the wines. Nice adult atmosphere too."
