  • "We had one of the best meals in recent memory at Fuel. Not a huge menu, but it changes frequently and everything we ordered was outstanding. For appetizers, we had octopus and duck confit. Both were wonderful. For main courses, we choose beef and pork. Again wonderful. I am not doing justice to any of these dishes, since I cannot remember the details of all that went into them. But, rest assured, all the dishes were inventive and interesting combinations of simply delicious ingredients. We ordered wine by the glass, and those were also great. The service was friendly and attentive and knowledgable."

  • "Long story short: Our food was a bit slow coming out of the kitchen, but delicious when it arrived. The pork - oh my goodness! Succulent and perfectly seasoned, and the fennel and bean puree on the side were nice departures from the more expected potatoes. Others at the table raved about their steak and halibut. Fuel's location can be off-putting for some. I say it's well worth it to go off the beaten path."

  • "I had a chicken with pimiento cheese grits and chorizo relleno dish that I thought was delicious. My dining partner had a steak with potato scallion cakes. She loved the potato cakes, but described the steak as cooked perfectly; however, not the greatest cut of meat. Although the menu didn't list Gluten Free selections the waiter was able to help me navigate the menu."

  • "My friend and I tried the steak/sweet potato hash and the pork short ribs. Loved everything. I also loved the burrata in my beet salad. It was the first time I had tried it. The apple compote was unique and very tasty. I would have liked a little more of it. We tried the blood orange curd/meringue and the chess pie. Both were delicious. I especially loved the sage ice cream. Very unusual but a nice contrast to the sweet chess pie. My friend's meringue was a little hard to cut but very tasty."

  • "Went for restaurant week, will definitely go back. We had the carrot soup, beet and burrata for first course; short ribs, steak with sweet potato hash for second course; blood orange meringue, chess pie for third. All which were amazing!! Wish we had more people so we could have tried more dishes. Our server while young was well versed in food with excellent recommendations and excellent service."

  • "My first visit during Restaurant Week. Pluses- good menu selection unless you were gluten intolerant. One of our party ended up having only one selection available per course. No offer to substitute any of the items to accommodate her, ie. change out the pasta on the duck dish. The wine guy was very knowledgeable. Minus- felt like we were being rush. Plates were cleared before everyone was finished eating. Check brought right away. Tables very close together so very noisy and no privacy. Quinoa cakes were very dry- could have used more sauce. Might consider another visit when it is not RW to see how compares."

  • "I have to say the food was pretty fantastic. Our waiter was also very good and explained everything and gave us advice on different menu items. It doesn't matter how good the food or the service is, when you miss represent the price on the menu and defend it the bad taste in your mouth is worse than if the food was bad. My friend was ordering the whiskey on the menu that was priced at $7. When we received the bill she was charged $9. We pointed this out to one of the employees and she got a menu and we confirmed the $7 price. At which point she said she would fix it . A couple minutes later a manager came to the table to explain that a shot is $7 and whiskey on the rocks is $9 because the pour is bigger. Not acceptable! Not coming back!!!!!"

  • "Fuel presented a fabulous dinner for restaurant week -- the best our group has had in several years. The wine list is pricey and unrecognizable choices which was a bit difficult. All of our choices were different, in terms of the food, and everyone was outstanding! Don't know how it would be to sit outside in the summer but the restaurant as a whole is a go back again proposition!"

I will console myself with the fact that I now know just how good it is and that I can plot a return visit soon. Service was impeccable - the hostess, the bartender, our server were all phenomenal. The food - pretty embarrassing when both of us were practically licking our plates. Fantastic restaurant week find!!!!"

  • "My fiance and I decided to try Fuel Cafe for the first time during restaurant week. Absolutely loved it! From the cozy yet industrial feel, to the unique menu choices (which change monthly) and the superb service. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and professional and we received new silverware with each course served - so fancy! The restaurant has a patio and garage doors that they open up when it's warm out. Can't wait to come back in the summer time."

My only detractors would be that the menu is a little too small with only one seafood dish and they were running behind schedule so our reservation was not ready upon arrival. This in no way should take away from the fact that everything else was great though."

  • "We made the mistake of eating out on Valentine's day. Our reservations were at 6:30 and online they said they had a happy hour at Refuel, we thought we'd happy hour and then have dinner. Refuel appeared to be closed. There was no signage indicating this, but there was no one there. We walked over to Fuel, when asked if there was a HH, we were told no, because it's Valentine's day. Why not?! We end up eating at 5:30. The lack of HH and then eating crazy early was only exacerbated by the fact that despite what was online, there were no Valentine's day specials. So now no matter how good this place is, I'm a hater. Everything we had was delicious, especially the veggies. They totally overshadowed the meats! Still angry though."

  • "We decided to have a change of venue and go out on Valentine's Day. Of course, all the hot spots were already booked as I literally waited until the day before to start looking. I was surprised to see Fuel actually still had one reservation open. (pure luck I guess) I was reluctant to book it as I have been to Fuel before and it was overly crowded and loud. But, I had limited options and decided to book it anyway. This experience was the complete opposite. The menu had a number of great choices and though it was busy, it was no distracting at all. Great atmosphere and a very enjoyable experience. And our server Megan was terrific!"

  • "We've heard great things about Fuel from friends. For Valentine's, checked in at 7:55 for our 8 pm reservation, and waited in the bar until 8:20 to be seated, which would have been okay except that then no one spoke/interacted with us for the next 20 min. We watched at least two other couples sit down after us and begin ordering drinks and food, start eating apps during this time. From here the service went downhill. Food was fine overall, but we left surprised that no one in the establishment took a second to find out why were unhappy. We never said anything inappropriate - but got the feeling our server was angry with us instead of the other way around! I seriously have had a better experience at a diner. We won't be going back."

  • "I just had one of the best dining experiences of the past year at Fuel Cafe. The service, atmosphere and food were all top notch. We were there for brunch and shared the Chilaquiles (absolutely phenomenal--a MUST for any diner) as well as a dish called Frico Caldo (a fabulous combination of cheesy potato leek pancake topped with a fried egg, a green salad and choice of meat). We also enjoyed a side of fresh fruit (that day was gorgeous blood red oranges with fresh blueberries). Cocktails were a mimosa with fresh grapefruit juice and a Bloody Mary garnished with a unique piece of candied bacon--divine! For some odd reason, the last time I went to Fuel was when they first opened six years ago. Now I doubt it will be a week before I return!!!"

  • "I had 3 friends in town over the weekend, so brunch on Sunday was a no-brainer. I wanted to try something new, so I made a reservation at Fuel (only to realize when we got there that it was completely not necessary - the place is bigger than it looks!). Other reviews indicated that Fuel is tucked away in a secret-ish spot in Denver, but it was not hard to find once the address was plugged into the GPS. When we got to Fuel, we were seated and seen by a waitress who took our drink order right away. We started with the breakfast scones, which were DELICIOUS with coffee (more than enough for 3 to share). All of our main dishes were prepared exactly the way we wanted them. We left satisfied and happy customers. HIGHLY recommend."

  • "The ambiance is great so long as you expect industrial chic. This was our second time and the apps/salads are outstanding. The mains were not as good this time as last, the duck was a bit salty and the beet gnocchi was a bit bland, but this is really looking for things to critique. Food is first rate; bar/drinks are as good as any other restaurant in the city; service is exceptional; and I love the vibe!"

  • "Delighted to find a hip dining spot that relies on its core offerings - not location - to sell itself. Make no mistake, I'm big on ambience in general, which includes location, but Fuel has just the right mix of elements to make its out-of-the-way location in an industrial setting a plus rather than a negative. If the same shop had been in a strip mall somewhere I'd probably have liked it quite a bit less. My first visit was for brunch. Menu is simple yet interesting, food was tasty and fresh and portions perfectly sized. And what's not to like about a bottomless Mimosa for $11!"
