A word from Fuego - Maya Hotel
“Cross the bridge and escape to Mexico … it’s only five minutes away!”

Fuego is an everyday celebration by the sea, reminiscent of beach town vacations experienced in Mexico. As you enter the restaurant, you will enjoy a lively bar featuring a menu of modern Latin cocktails, margaritas, and the region’s largest selection of tequila.
The adjacent room seats 60 for both dining and drinking pleasure. The colorful décor is designed by awarding-winning DPS Interiors.
A true feature of Fuego is its use of both indoor and outdoor space. An expansive patio with seating for an additional 80 guests enjoys a commanding waterfront view of downtown Long Beach.
The breakfast menu features a variety of both American and Mexican specialties. The dinner menu features authentic Mexican cuisine with a focus on marisco (fresh seafood) platters. Everything is served in the spirit of sharing on unique and colorful tableware.

  • "If you want to go to a place with amazing service, extraordinary food selections, and breathtaking ocean views, you should definitely give Fuego a try. My boyfriend and I went for a date night recently and asked to be seated on the outside patio. The ambiance is great and this restaurant offers the best views I have seen thus far in Long Beach. We ordered the corn sopes as an appetizer, followed by the pollo a la plancha and the ropa vieja. Both were amazing. I highly recommend this as a nice splurge from traditional dining."

  • "Fuego at the Maya is a bit hard to find, but definitely worth the effort. Just crossing the bridge to the Queen Mary side of the harbor makes one feel worlds away. The entire restaurant is lovely, but the outdoor dining area is nothing short of spectacular. We came for Eat LBC week and were impressed with the food and atmosphere. I particularly loved the Sopes appetizer. That, and a couple of cocktails, was really all I needed. The only problem we encountered was with the pacing of the meal. I was barely halfway through my sopes when the servers brought our entrees. I had to ask them to hold the plates until I finished. Really? Do they need to turn the tables that quickly? Despite the blip in service, we'll likely be back."

  • "Great Food, delicious drinks, friendly Service and Magnificent City View. Enjoyed the music which was at perfect noise level to where you can still have a good conversation during Sunday Brunch. Highly recommended for either a couple or group. Just make sure you get proper directions, can get lost or pass turn easily."

  • "Great food overall as well as the service. The only problem was the plantains were undercook. That was one of the main reasons I picked the ROPA VIEJA dish. I did appreciate the attention my wife and I received from the staff congratulating our night."

  • "I was at Fuego on Friday on 3/28/14. It was a lovely afternoon with my two friends. We arrived on time and were seated immediately in the outside dining area. This is where everyone should sit....with a beautiful view of the Long Beach harbor. I ordered the appetizer Ceviche with Edamame. It paired well with the guacamole, chips and salsa. The flavors were light and fresh. The service was great. Added bonus: A sea lion decided to sunbathe on the dock while we enjoyed our lunch."

  • "I took my Sister and friends to the Latin Sunday Brunch. We had such a great time! The food was excellent, with so many delicious choices, there was something for every palate. I loved my steak and eggs entree choice, which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The gorgeous grilled chilled veggies and ceviche display were fantastic! The ambience and Latin band added a special feel that really sent the afternoon to a magical note. Would recommend this brunch to all. Thank you for a wonderful day at Feugo;}}"

  • "Was attending an Expo nearby and wanted to avoid the buffet food at the seminar. Great food - very fresh and creative. Loved the outdoor dining area as well. It was a fun atmosphere without being too loud for good conversation."

  • "We always take guests here as they get such a flavor for Southern California with the patio view."

  • "Fuego is delightful in both view, wait staff and food. We went for a birthday celebration and it was charming and fun. There was music, and the outside part is actually warmer than the inside due to the heat lamps. In addition to the wonderful food you can choose on the buffet line, you also order an entree, so you absolutely have food to take home if you can't finish it. Hotel Maya is a little hard to find, but once there, there is no disappointment."

  • "A really cool place to impress people. A little difficult to get there, but once you sit on their patio overlooking the bay and theLong Beach skyline it's spectacular."

  • "Nice view of downtown Long Beach. My wife and I decided to try it out based on a referral from our son who lives in Long Beach. As mentioned in previous reviews, it is a bit confusing to find but it wasn't a deal breaker. We were looking for a bit more of a vibrant dining scene but it just wasn't happening that night. The staff was nice but a bit indifferent. Overall a nice "hotel" restaurant but I wouldn't go out of my way to get there with all of the other great choices across the harbor. If anything my wife and I found a cool hotel (The Mayan) that we may check out for a weekend getaway."

  • "We wanted an outdoor restaurant with a view to spend our California Christmas eve dinner and found Fuego to be an awesome place just for that. Food was delicious, service was great and the venue with Queen Mary and downtown Long Beach views was fabulous. And the outdoor fire pit in the background was fun. Thanks! We'll see you in the new year!"

  • "Service left a bit to be desired. They forgot us. I had to go to the hostess to get our waitress and they never mentioned to her that we had been sutting for 20 minutes. She did her best to make up for it however, but in general the servers seemed overwhelmed."

  • "I was really surprised that such an amazing location didn't have a more varied menu and better pricing. 3 tacos and plain white rice. No salsa was offered, nothing further for $16. That patio and bar was WAY too empty for what you have there. The servers were tremendous, but you need to adjust that menu and adjust those prices a bit for an excellent place."

  • "I take visitors and friends to Fuego all the time. Great view. Great service. Great food. It's a real treat to go there, and it's not super expensive. This time, we watched a dolphin swimming in the water from our table! The first-time driver will find the route to get there seems circuitous, but if you follow the "Maya" signs, you'll get there. And after the first trip, you'll know how to get there from now on."

  • "Looking back over the lights of Long Beach at evening is beautiful. The seafood crepes were good but the serving small for guys with appetites. The chicken I had was very good. I don't remember any holiday decorations though...."

  • "While I would recommend the restaurant for food and drinks, I would also include that the service was unacceptable. The waiter's assistant kept coming to ask if the food he was carrying from the kitchen was for our table ... several times. Although our waitress stopped by at appropriate times, she seemed distracted and detached. The interactions of staff were noticeably strained. The noise level in the bar was such that I could not hear the maître D. I asked for a table where there was no noise. Suggest that you consider the levels for drinking at the bar which should be different than the level for dining. Patrons should be able to have a table conversation and not have to shout to one another. Thank you listening."

  • "Not good service. We saw our waiter (Kelly) 4 times out of the two hours we were there dining. Our waiter was servicing a party of 20 as well as our table and we did not get the service we would expect for the price we paid for our meal. We had to flag our waiter down to order our food, additional drinks and our bill. The menu was not he same as advertised on the web nor were the prices.. I would only return because the food was good and the ambiance near the water was nice."

  • "The Fuego restaurant is a great place for any meal. We ate outside, which was warmer outside then inside. We had the seafood crepes which were great. The views overlooking Long Beach are fab. I highly recommend it to anyone"

  • "This restaurant is part of the DoubleTree hotel property. What a great find. It is adjacent to Long Beach harbor and overlooks the Long Beach shoreline. The night that I visited it was quite warm which made the dining experience even nicer. Warm Summer night with good food, good company and great views. The atmosphere was lively and the people were friendly. I recommend a visit to Fuego the next time you're in the Long Beach area."

  • "The view was fabulous. The food was good (but way overpriced). Our waitress was busy but attentive. The problem, which overshadowed all of that, was the slowness of the kitchen. It should not have taken almost three hours to eat dinner when the place was only half full. If we go again it will be for lunch or happy hour, and if I recommend it to a friend, it will be with a warning about the slowness (particularly galling since parking is free for only two hours)."

  • "Would likely be good for groups and special occasions but I have only been there for lunch. Menu was very appealing; food was very good and the view is great. Vodka cocktail was also very good. Wait staff very attentive, tho it was not a busy time. I would definitely recommend Fuego and will likely go there again. Would be a good destination for Happy Hour, I would imagine. As a Long Beach resident I am always so glad to find yet another good restaurant in my "own back yard""

  • "My partner and I were celebrating our one year anniversary. I requested a table with a view. The hostess and our waiter were awesome. They welcomed us and congratulated us. it was nice to be seen as a couple. The service and food were awesome. We were never rushed to complete our meal and move on and desert on them was a nice touch. We also thought the wine selection was very good, with Oregon wines to boot!"

  • "We had reservations, and were taken right in upon arrival. My husband ordered the Lobster Macaroni- hot, biggest lobster pieces that we've ever seen in a lobster or seafood macaroni, large portion, but not very cheesy (bland flavor). I ordered the Ropa Vieja- hot, spices made dish flavorful, not greasy as I've experienced at other locations, and large portion (I took half home). Views of Long Beach are spectacular. We dined after the sun had come down, so we'd love to return for a sunset dining experience. Servers were nice, refilled our water often, and checked on us often. Only downside, the heater next to us was not on. We asked 3 employees to turn it on, but we were almost done with our meals when they finally did."

  • "The location of Long Beach Harbor is breath taking, especially watching the sun set and night lights twinkle on. However, the service needs improvement. We were not given bread until we asked, the server did not tells about the night's specials nor give us information about the items on the menu."

  • "Our first time here for Sunday brunch. Awesome waterfront table.A buffet and table service for the entree. I don't like buffets typically. But this was a buffet for the starters hot and cold. It had lots of really good items. The server took our menu order and served the entree. This ensured our entrees would not be cold or dried out.We both ordered the lobster. It was beyond delicious. Cooked to perfection, sweet Maine lobster flavor and healthy 1 pounder. I was so impressed. Price includes a glass of champagne but there is bottomless champagne for a flat rate of $10.00. The champagne was not very good but the food and service made up for it. An added bonus was the dolphin that swam by and the sea lion playing n the water."

  • "Fuego's location is perfect for a romantic dinner on their patio looking at Downtown Long Beach. Time it so you can watch the boats coming into the bay and the lights turning on in downtown and also on the Queen Mary. The menu choices are delicious from the appetizers to the entrees and try the wines from around the world. The setting makes you feel like you are on vacation even if it's only for an evening."
