  • Private Party Facilities: FLPH has a large dining room which can be divided into smaller rooms using portable walls made from tin and oak boards from a local barn. These heavy, solid walls can create a private space for your event. We can accommodate parties from 10 to 40 and the entire restaurant can be rented for larger events.

  • "Went to Frog's Leap Public House after theatre at HART. As always - they made our entire group feel like we were the most important people they were serving that night. The table started out with fried pickles and they disappeared quickly. Myself and two of my companions ate the seared grouper with yellow tomato foam. It was phenomenal. My husband opted for filet with crab topping and lyonnaise potatoes. He states that the filet was nothing less than "Perfect". At the end, we all shared one dessert (Jackie Blevins' toffee crunch) and we did everything but lick the plate. The place never disappoints."

  • "This restaurant quietly sits on a side street, but the presentation of lunch was anything but. Each dish (and our family of four sampled many) burst deliciousness from every nibble. My personal favorite is the goat chees bon bons set on a plate of local honey and pistachios. Pretty sure I'd go the distance to have another one of those babies on my plate."

  • "On vacation in Waynesville and called some local friends to meet us for dinner here. We had picked the place based on reviews. Was a little taken aback when they arrived and said they had been there two nights before. I was surprised they hadn't mentioned it earlier but they said this is one of their favorites...and we soon found out why. Wife got the trout...it was amazing and I got the meatloaf--very tasty...and huge portions. Friends got the pork chop and the encrusted chicken. Seasonal veggies--everything was fresh. The air was a bit smoky but we loved dining here."

  • "Lunch was good and the food was creative and presented well. The atmosphere was neat except that my eyes were burning from all the smoke coming from the wood burning stove in the kitchen. By the time we left we smelled like we had been sitting inside a camp fire. Not good if you have somewhere to go after and don't want a lingering smell on your hair and clothes. The service was just so-so. I have a pet peeve about a server not telling us their name so that was just a little issue. We waited at the front door for 5 full minutes before we were greated. Even though several servers saw us standing there. So overall not the worst experience ever but not good enough for us to drive over from Asheville again."

  • "As regular customers of a restaurant, you soon get to know a menu and sometimes get into a routine of ordering the same dish. This is not easily achieved at FLPH where a creative, (a previous visit included bacon cheesecake, that tasted far better than it sounds) ) and frequently changing selection of food ensures that the menu is never predictable. Our most frequent visit coincided with a greater revamp of the menu than usual, but the choice of food made from fresh, locally sourced, ingredients, was as eclectic, and as good, as ever. The only (occasional) negative is that the wood burning oven can sometimes create a smoky atmosphere."

  • "Our reservation was at 2:15, which is when we arrived in downtown Waynesville. Parking was difficult. Got a horrible stare when we walked in the door, then we were scolded for arriving late. I thought it was close to 2:15, but no, "it is 2:26", she said with a hiss. I asked her if she wanted us to go elsewhere and she said, no but please order quickly the kitchen closes at 2:30. We hurried with decisions and placed our order. Two of us ordered a side dish of collards that were so hot we could not eat them. Too bad, kitchen's closed. We won't be back. Haven't felt that unwelcome in a restaurant in quite some time."

  • "My husband and I always make reservations here when we're in the area. The menu changed from our last visit. I wasn't very hungry so I got a Caesar salad. My husband commented on me getting 'just a salad' at this restaurant. Well, this wasn't just a salad. The grit cake croutons, crispy onions, and buttermilk Caesar dressing set this salad apart. I was very pleased. I also ordered the 'smoked' Mac and cheese but was disappointed. There was little 'smoke' and it wasn't creamy. My husband had the Cajun pasta and raved about how it was the best pasta dish he's had in quite a while. The spiciness of the shrimp, chicken, and sausage melded with the creaminess of the sauce was wonderful. The brownie dessert was a chocolate lovers dream."

A place that does not have to be the cheapest place or the most expensive, but a place where you are almost grateful to pay the bill and tips are a pleasure to add. Frogs Leap Public House is such a place for me and everyone I have taken there. Whether it is one of their regular items or one of the seasonal specials, there just don't seem to be any disappointments. It has the atmosphere for romance and for a get together with an old friend. It is a place to go and celebrate good news and to ease the shock of bad news. A truly fabulous find in Waynesville, NC."

  • "My boyfriend and went out of our way to get lunch here at a recommendation from his parents, and we were not disappointed. He got shrimp and grits, which was a bit more stew-like than either of us expected, but he absolutely raved. I had the 7 cheese grilled cheese, which was a scrumptious blend of local cheeses. We shared Parmesan truffle fries, which were the best fries I have ever eaten and highly recommend. FLPH really emphasizes using local/fresh ingredients and you can tell by the flavors and quality of food. It was absolutely delicious, and not too pricey either!"

The menus were printed, it seems, daily and in house and attached to a clip board. We will come back again the next time we are in Waynesville to try more of this exceptional dining experience."

  • "On this visit to FLPH, I found the experience much less satisfying than my prior one. The service was just fine as it had been before, but the food was not at all as good. Perhaps it was that I mistakenly tried a new special, the lobster and monkfish americaine. The sauce was decent; otherwise the potatoes were way undercooked, the amount of fennel was excessive, the monkfish lacked taste and the lobster portion was skimpy. As I have seen in other reviews, there is a disconnect between the reputation of Frogs Leap Public House and what it actually delivers. There are more rewarding options in the area."

  • "The food was amazing and the service impeccable! This was by far the best restaurant in this area. We had a late dinner reservation at 7:45 and was able to spend ample time enjoying many courses and asked to split an item from the supper menu and it was done so nicely and with no hesitation. I would come back and will because there is so many wonderful menu items that I want to experience them all. The libations were also unique and well done. We are foodies and have eaten in many a nice restaurant from Charleston, SC to Asheville, NC and this restaurant and experience is by far in the top 3!"

  • "Starting with the welcome at the door, to our wonderful server, Mary Kate! to the incredible meal (I started with the mushroom soup and had the scallops for my entrée - I like that they have "Small Plates" to share or enjoy yourself) My boyfriend had the trout, which was absolutely prepared perfectly! I tried the Parmesan grit cake as a side and it was so good!! The finale was the strawberry cheesecake (recommended by Mary Kate) and it was fabulous! I had made reservations in advance when I knew we were coming to Waynesville (one of our most favorite towns in the mountains!) We had been to Frogs Leap before, and I didn't want to miss another chance to dine there! The Manager came over and welcomed us and thanked us for coming back!"

Local cheese, meat, honey, and other fresh ingredients are thoughtfully balanced and presented in generous (but not ridiculous) portions. The artisan cocktails are unique and priced fairly. You can bring your kids and wear jeans, yet the atmosphere is also rustically romantic. A sweet hickory aroma from the open pizza oven pervades the dining room.
