Diner Reviews
  • "If you want great service and food, go here. Mary Kay was our server, and we were very impressed with her knowledge of the food and drink menus. She also helped make our experience fun with her outgoing personality. Frogs Leap Public House is one of our favorite places to eat, and great service is very important on our list. This place nails it!"

  • "Outstanding selection on the menu- both the commonly recognized and the exotic; and well coordinated tastes in each dish we enjoyed. We went with soup and a small plate (and dessert) and were sated. The soups, we each had one, were excellent and the pecan pie was the best ever. Rather than buried in caramelized sugar, it was naturally textured. The crust was exceptional and simply wonderful. The return trip will be for entrees."

  • "Wow! Were we impressed when we went to Frogs Leap Public House in Waynesville,NC! It was listed in WNC magazine as one of the best restaurants in the region and the reviews were stellar. Add our kudos to the rest! The mussels are superb, the Devils on Horseback appetizer melts in your mouth; the entrees are scrumptious. The cabernet we chose to accompany the meal was excellent as well. And our server was terrific. This restaurant has moved to the top of our favorites list when we're in the area...."

  • "My wife and I always want to eat here when we are in the area. The menu changes so there's always something different to try. I had the pork belly sliders-delicious. My wife had the chicken piccata, fixed in a different way and was very good. We started with the hush puppies which were light, crispy, and flavorful. Can't wait 'til our next trip to Waynesville."

  • "This restaurant hits the nail on the head with its own versions of American fare. The meat loaf tasted as if it came from steak. The sweet potato soup was delicious as was the salad with the pears, cherries, pistachios, mixed greens and fried goat cheese balls. Highly recommend if you enjoy goat cheese. The small plate of fried shrimp on a bed of deliciously flavored cabbage was similar to Bone Fish Grill's Bang Bang Shrimp, spicy and sweet. Service was excellent although the restaurant was not crowded. I would imagine service would be good no matter when you go. The restaurant was easy to find and had a good vibe going on."

  • "My husband and I drove from Asheville after reading about Frog Leap and weren't disappointed. Decor is woodsy/sophisticated with a noticeable wood smoke aroma. I had the shrimp po' boy - perfectly fried shrimp with crisp slaw, tasty pickled onion on a pillowy roll. My side sweet potato fries were the best I've ever had. The whole meal was huge! My husband had an equally impressive BBQ sandwich. The attentive waitress was helpful and knowledgeable about the beer choices and came up with a perfect local draft pairing for each sandwich. We will return for dinner."

  • "The food and the ambience of this restaurant are incredible. The menu features farm to table options and has a very eclectic mix for those with a discerning palate. This one my second visit to Frog's Leap, and my first for dinner; I have yet to be disappointed in any way. Highly recommend...... a must for any visit to western NC."

  • "We have been many times and are never disappointed. Nice casual atmosphere. Wonderful presentation and delicious food! They had to create a new menu because of the snow storm at the last minute and it was exceptional! The crispy port belly sliders were incredible as was the Tuscan kale salad!"

  • "We really enjoyed the Valentine's Day menu! Highly recommend the Honey Thyme Sour cocktail. Our meal was delicious - highlights included the pork belly sliders and the sweet and sour brussel sprouts (which you can get separately as a side dish!). The lamb porterhouse was cooked to the perfect temperature. The small plate with manchego cheese and ham fritters were very enjoyable too. Our server was friendly and courteous and did a great job explaining several of the entrees to us when we were debating our choices."

  • "FLPH never fails to satisfy! This NY chef, who graced the Atlanta scene for many years, has brought all his talents to bear as the restaurant passes it's 2/12 year mark. At it's inception, it was above average and it's now reaching for brilliance. Kudos to the chef and staff at FLPH for going for and attaining the gold!"

  • "Food was excellent, but portion sizes not really filling unless you order a bunch of appetizers. Food is very pricely, but it does boast local farms, all organic, etc. Unless you have unlimited dollars, this is considerd a place for special occassions. Might consider this once a year as an option."

  • "the Frogs Leap Public House was hands down the best food and service I have experienced in a very long time. .we shared the cheeses as an appetizer which was superb, I had the FLPH Caesar salad which was amazing. My wife had the bone in Pork Chop with collard greens.. She never orders these items but found them to quite amazing. My cousin ordered the Crispy Duck comfit with Bok Choy, which was to die for and I ordered Wood Grilled. Black Angus Fillet with Red Onion Relish. It was sooooo good. We ordered a bottle of Line 39 Merlot. which paired nicely with each of our entries... We then shared a Creme Brûlée for desert This place is amazing... I can't wait to take my wife's parents back there so they can experience the awesome affair."

  • "An outstanding restaurant. With the menu changing 2-3 times a week during the growing summer season, this farm to fork restaurant is one not to miss. Only one problem. We can't find anything on the menu we don't like! You will love it."

  • "Great farm to table restaurant with so many unique choices on the menu it was very difficult to decide. The menu offers many small plates for those who want a variety of items without overeating. I ordered the fried goat cheese (breaded with pistachio nuts) and have now found my favorite new appetizer. The soups we tried were hearty and spicy. The chef has created many delicious and unique dishes with seasonal and local foods. The service is friendly and attentive. The decor is rustic and charming without being over the top. Although the tables were close together, the noise level was very moderate. A real find!"

  • "After a marginal experience in our last visit, this trip restored confidence in this one of our favorite local restaurants. Menu has new creative items, air quality was improved (had less smoke from wood fired grill), and service was very good as usual."

  • "Our sixth visit to Frog's Leap PH was excellent. Rather than having a large entry we chose 4 small plates and were rewarded with FLPH's winning combination of fresh food, creatively prepared and presented well visually. The chef knows great combinations like Devils on Horseback, bacon wrapped dates with blue cheese core in a luscious sauce. The soup of the day, lentil and country ham , was also exceptional as was the salad of greens, figs, cranberry, pumpkin seeds and pears set if in a fresh dressing. The sliders were excellent farm raised beef burger, local cheddar and bacon topped with a fried dill pickle chip and caramelized onions on a grilled fresh bun. Service was friendly and attentive."

  • "If you are in the area you don't want to miss this. Farm to fork with menu that changes weekly and daily in growing months. Have eaten there many times and have never had a bad meal. The flavor pairings within the dish are truly amazing. Others are good. Frogs Level is great. An experience to behold"

  • "I have been to The Frog's Leap many times for their unique menu. I wanted to see their twist on Traditional Thanksgiving dinner. They did not disappoint. The smoked turkey was flavorful and moist. The andouille sausage dressing was off the chart. The whipped sweet potatoes were as traditional as could be, and the braised collard greens from their everyday menu tied it all together. Outstanding!!"

  • "We had a wonderful meal on Thanksgiving. Our table ordered a warm winter salad and the candy roaster bisque (both amazing - they are on the regular menu right now too - HIGHLY recommend them!), the always delicious smoked/grilled pork chop, and two Thanksgiving plates - the cassoulet and the chicken-fried turkey tenderloin. Both Thanksgiving plates got two thumbs up. Drinks included Highland Cold Mountain Winter Ale (yay!), Harvest Rum Ciders, a Gin Gin Mule, and a Chocolatini. The mixed drinks were nicely balanced and complemented the meal perfectly. Dessert was one piece of pecan pie with ice cream that we all split. Our server was very friendly, courteous, and attentive. A really fun evening at Frog's Leap!"

  • "Great food and selection, made up right before your eyes in the open-air kitchen. Creative chef choices mark the menu. Anna, our server on several occasions, is terrific. Whenever we visit our home in the mountains, fLPH is a must visit."

  • "Great menu and upscale menu; however, the music is so bad I couldn't think with the fake "country music" knock-offs piped into an otherwise very special place. It was like Nashville flunk-outs with someone from Brooklyn picking what they thought "mountain folks" wanted to hear. The music was horrible and cud not hv been worse"

  • "The food and drink were creative, delicious, and beautifully presented. Our waitress was stretched to cover far too many tables, and we could not get her attention as quickly as we wanted; but she was wonderfully attentive nonetheless."

I enjoyed the Shrimp & Grits and my mother had the Brisket Meat Loaf which was off the charts. Thanks for a lovely meal. I won't wait so long next time to come back."
