Frog N SnailGreat Food on Mother's DayFood and Service were excellent on Mother's day. Despite the restaurant being busy and full, the attention from the servers were great! We had the Shrimp and Grits which were fantastic. Best part of the restaurant that it is kid friendly.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly RecommendedWe visited Frog N Snail for Mother Day Brunch. Super nice personal, great food, pleasant atmospheare. Will be back soon.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a fantastic brunch atHad a fantastic brunch at Frog N Snail. The mimosa "bottle service" is a must. My only critique is that the entrees were small and my dining partner and I were both still hungry after we finished. Next time I will get an order of one of their pastries to go along with brunch.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFlavor!I loved the food and service here. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and they made sure we were taken care of without being annoying. I got the rabbit dumpling hash and it was wonderful! My friends really enjoyed their food, as well. I'm not too particularly fond of the neighborhood, but it was worth the trip, especially since I got a few glances of one of my favorite Top Chef contestants as he was coming in and out of the kitchen ;)5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSooo good. This was my second time coming to Frog N' Snail. I went for dinner before and for brunch this time. With both I was sublimely happy. The food is so creative and unexpected and delicious. Its definitely a fun restaurant to go to with friends, whether they live here or are visiting. I'm really looking forward to going back!
Dinner Winner = Duck confit pierogies. OMG.
Unexpected Deliciousness = Millet muffin. Who... how... wah... how can you make it taste that good?! What magic did you work on that little muffin??5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch! We went for brunch with a group of friends. The food was amazing and the mimosa deal for $20 bucks for the entire table was well worth it. Definitely recommend it!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe perfect placeI would have a tough time naming a better restaurant for the combinatinon of Top Chef quality food, casual welcoming atmosphere and price. Always creative, always friendly, always amazingly delicious, no matter what you order.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm not a huge brunch person,I'm not a huge brunch person, mostly because most restaurants that do it serve exclusively breakfast items and tend to phone it in. Frog n Snail was a pleasant surprise for brunch, the food was fantastic, and they had an outdoor patty to enjoy the sunshine. Great spot!
One issue: they were out of two menu items. I understand that this happens sometimes, but with only 10-12 items to choose from, that't not the most ideal situation.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was ver nice butOur server was ver nice but not overly attentive. We waited longer stretches for her attention/refills a few times. The brunch dishes were delicious but small. It's best to order a separate pastry or something of you want to be able to go a few hours without wanting to ear again.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food, quiet, veryWonderful food, quiet, very big open space, not cramped, knowledgeable wait staff, decent location, highly recommend visiting Frog N Snail.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are returning patrons! We are returning patrons! Nice, smaller menu, so you know you will get nothing but fresh and delicious food... Very imaginative and great tasting dishes. This is a wonderful value as well...4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous brunch!!I don't know why this place isn't packed for brunch. Good coffee, great bloody mary and while the dishes we ordered (rabbit dumpling hash and skillet no skillet) both sounded like they should be heavy, they tasted like Spring on a plate.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMust come backTook my friend here for a birthday brunch and it was absolutely incredible! I was very happy I made a reservation, as the entire place was packed by noon. We were seated right away at what looked like the last available table (so I appreciated that they honored my reservation) and a server was with us quickly. The menu online wasn't totally the same as what we were handed, but I did notice some of the staples. I asked the server for his honest opinion between the shrimp n grits, rabbit dumplings, and the egg bouillbanese... he IMMEDIATELY said shrimp n grits, even though the others were more expensive. Both my friend and I ordered the shrimp n grits and it was to DIE for. Amazingly fresh, savory, comforting and just the right portion size.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and atmosphere.Great food and atmosphere. We all loved our brunch choices. Only complaint was server's attention.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to Frog N SnailI have been to Frog N Snail several times and always enjoyed it, but this was definitely the best experience here so far! Two of us had the Brook Trout, and it was a beautiful blending of flavors with a light almond cream sauce and almonds and other vegetables that retained their freshness and individual tastes while blending with the whole dish. Everyone at the table had food that was well above average...a great combination of contemporary French, American and global. The servers were friendly and professional; the ambiance relaxed and easy. Overall a lovely experience!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Frog 'n Snail and we tried an assortment of six appetizers instead of entrées. Frogs legs, snails, mussels, sweetarte, this and that, and cassoulet. It was a wonderful assortment and too much food which meant we had good snacking the next day. The eponymous dishes were excellent and the other dishes provided a wonderful variety of tastes and textures. We're looking forward to our next visit.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth food and service wereBoth food and service were a noticeable step up from the last time we were at the restaurant a couple of months ago. Better menu selection and pricing, and a wait person who actually knew what she was talking about.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMreally had a great time.really had a great time. loved what we ate and the staff made the night fun and comfortable. really a great experience3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best restaurant meal I'veThe best restaurant meal I've ever had, bar none. We oohed and aahed over every portion of our meal. Simply delicious. Can't wait to return.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAll of the dishes had someAll of the dishes had some uniqueness that was well executed without overreaching.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA special spot.Very good. Food a bit salty, but still special - great flavors, light, tender seafood dishes.
Meat dishes looked yummy, filling.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFabuous!Fabulous. We had dinner on a Wednesday night following a performance of Blue Man Group. We could not have been more happy with our meal. Everything we tasted was wonderful. I am only sorry I did not leave room for dessert. Next time I won't order so many starters, but everything was just delicous. Kids loved it, too! We will be back soon.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff at Frog N SnailThe staff at Frog N Snail were extremely attentive, friendly and professional while keeping the atmosphere casual which really works with the neighborhood. They offered creative wine pairings and had some interesting whiskys behind the bar.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time for each of theFirst time for each of the 7 at our table. All in agreement: it will be our brunch spot for all of our upcoming Timeline Theatre visits. Wowed us all.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHad it not been for SproutHad it not been for Sprout and Top Chef Dale Levitsky, we wouldn't have tried frog and snail, but we are glad we did. No pretension. Manageable menu. GREAT service. Huge variety. Decadent dessert. Fun place for a group and a night on the town.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDélicieux!I have dined at Frog N Snail many times, and each dish I have tried has been a delight. I enjoy the creative dishes that are offered, and I always leave feeling satisfied (and very full!) I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family, and I am happy to have it in the Lakeview neighborhood!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious brunch! The brunch menu makes it hard to make a choice. There were 4 or 5 things that looked especially good. We'll need to return often to taste them all. The homemade sausage in the "Skillet No Skillet" is soooo good. The only disappointment was the Lithuanian Bacon Buns starter - I've had them homemade by a friend's Lithuanian Mom. These were dry - over baked and the bacon inside was dry. Everything else we had was delicious, and the service was timely, relaxed, friendly and efficient.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMcant wait for our 2nd visit. This place was definitely nice. We had the black truffle dumplings that were savory and surprisingly light. The lobster bisque which had spicy shrimp and crispy pot on top, the only thing lacking here was the actual lobster (there was none to be found). We also had the kitchen sink cassoulet which is found in the "put an egg on top" section of the menu, how can you go wrong here it was outstanding! The duck and chicken and pork were all cooked perfectly and the flavors mixed together so well. We will go back again for sure.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMussels with absinthe wasMussels with absinthe was a little spicy and very tasty, and the duck pierogi was delicious. Everyone in my party really enjoyed their meal.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale comfort foodWe went for a late dinner (9:30) when my cousin was visiting from NYC. We were some of the only people in the restaurant because I think they were trying to close up. That being said, the food was EXCELLENT. The truffle dumplings were melt in your mouth, homey and fantastic. I had the pork tenderloin sandwich, which was a HUGE piece of pork on a bun stuffed with "Iowa-style maid-rite" ground beef. I'd never had a maid-rite sandwich before but I absolutely loved this. It was like a surprise when I finally made it to the middle of the sandwich. My roommate had the beef stroganoff which was refined and tasty as well. The waitstaff was really nice, even though we could tell we were preventing them from closing down for the night!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
