Diner Reviews
  • "I am from near the Hyde Park, New York area where I have eaten at the Culinary Institute of America 3 times. The food at Frog Hollow Tavern was as good or better. We had my 4 year old with us for her first fine dinning experience. The staff was great. we would return for other special occasions.-Paul "

  • "Nice atmosphere. Fresh local fare is emphasized here. I had the salad with homemade buttermilk dressing-delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection-my husbands porkchop was truly "medium". Food was presented artistically and prices were reasonable. I realize that fresh food takes longer to prepare but the only negative was the wait for the food. Overall very good and we will definitely return."

  • "WE haven't been here for a while and I was very pleased that the experience was equal or better than I remembered from before. Usually restaurants in this area decline in service and quality the longer they are open. THe Menu has limited options but every one we have tried has been excellent. The food was very good and as described by the waiter. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. We dined early and the crowd filled in as we ate but the sound level was acceptable. Overall a very good experience, just pricey enough that is a "not too often" type place for us."

  • "Menu was short and sweet. Chef and cooks know what they are doing, the food was prepared flawlessly. Service was good and relaxed, attentive and not overbearing. "

  • "This was my treat for my father (who was treating me to two rounds at the Masters!). I took my chances with high ratings on Open Table and I was not disappointed. Great food, great service, and no problems with reservation made well in advance. It's not inexpensive, but the pricing was very fair based on the quality of the food, service and outstanding bourbon & wine selections. If I am lucky enough to once again visit Augusta in April, I will be back at Frog Hollow Tavern. The fact that they exceeded my father's lofty expectations made BOTH of us look great! Thank you Frog Hollow Tavern for helping me thank my dad."

  • "After the final round at Augusta, stopped in with some friends! Totally exceeded my expectations on every level! Had the oven roasted oysters, crab cakes and duck sausage! All three were favorites! Service was 5 star! Go if you have the opportunity!"

  • "Great food, but very loud. A good choice for a 'party' atmosphere, but not so good to conduct business"

  • "Very good food but expensive. If you like wine, they have a long list. Not romantic at all, more of a expensive neighborhood hangout"

  • "There was nothing I did not like about this place. The prices are good and the quality of the food an service is top notch. The bartender that made my Manhattan was definitely knowledgeable and made the best I've had. Great spot in downtown Augusta."

  • "We arrived after a concert that I had just sung in, so it was after 9:00, and we were both hungry. We were 20 min. early, so we had to wait for a table to clear. We skipped the appetizers and went straight to the entrees. Mine was a striped bass daily special. The generous piece was perfectly cooked. Hubby's butcher steak was also perfectly cooked, but too large for him to finish. We shared a piece of cheesecake topped with port-soaked cherries for dessert, accompanied by decaf coffee (sadly the espresso machine wasn't working). The restaurant was clearing out by the time we finished, so service was attentive. The noise level was also reasonable given the reduced number of diners. We had a relaxing time, so we definitely want to return :-)"

  • "Our reservation was for 6 PM but we showed up 30 min early and were seated quickly. This was rather early and the place was almost to ourselves. The waitress was great and talked about each item on the special with great knowledge, so much that we gave them a try. The dinner was amazing and despite the rather expensive price I would rather eat here once a month on a date than twice at any other location. We will be back to the Frog Hollow Tavern."

  • "Continues to have the best menu, food and service in Augusta. When we want a great meal, we always end up here. We would eat here every week if our waistlines & budget would allow! Just wish they were open more evenings (closed Sun - Tues). We've eaten most items on the menu and it's all good. They've removed the excellent burger - why? - too bad. It's nice to have something a bit simpler. Maybe add a form of quesadilla?? Keep up the great job."

  • "We had eaten at Frog Hollow before and loved the dinner experience. This second visit was a gift for a very special belated birthday. We were disappointed in that it was the wrong night to expect ambience, as there were tables of groups of women and a few men that were dining prior to the show at the Imperial (Menapausal the Musical). Very busy and loud! The piped in music didn't help!"

  • "This is my favorite restaurant and for my birthday friends treated my husband and me to dinner. It was, as always, excellent. The ingredients are locally sourced and the chef is very creative. We had the duck sausage as an appetizer and it was so good! My husband had an steak with fries (those tiny ones that are so crispy) and I had the fish with risotto and both were perfect. Our waitress had only been working there for 3 weeks but until someone told us, we didn't figure it out. She had the menu down pat, answered all of our questions expertly and was very attentive. We enjoyed talking with her and the Manager who came over to check on us. If you haven't tried this restaurant, do so. You will not be disappointed!"

  • "This was my second time dining at Frog Hollow Tavern, and I had raved about it to my friends. No one was disappointed! The food, drinks and service were all outstanding. Our entrees included shrimp and grits, fresh Florida fish, a 14 oz. pork chop and butchers steak all served with incredible sides. In my opinion this is the best food in the CSRA. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. It is fresh, local and absolutely delicious!"

  • "Finally some high quality food with taste . Generous portions the flavor and presentation was out of this world . We are avid foodies both have had weight loss surgery sooo that being said we appreciate quality over quantity more so than ever since each bite better be good. Both of us really appreciate great tasting high quality food and finally found it ! Higher end restaurant but we were treated with respect and our waitress Emme was super friendly and great! Didn't feel like we were at a snobby place at all. (my husband has two full sleeve tattoos and does get some looks here in the Bible Belt , lol) We will be back soon. Really like the fact too that food is local , go green!!!"

  • "This meal was absolutely fabulous! Our server was efficient without being overly attentive. She brought years of experience to our table, and made the evening that much better. The Red Velvet bread pudding dessert was to die for. I would definitely go back."

  • "What a wonderful surprise. Frog Hollow, recommended to my boyfriend as a good place to eat while I was visiting him in Augusta. I've been to Augusta many times for work and for pleasure. Finding a place to eat that is not fast food has always been a challenge. The entire experience at Frog Hollow was great from entering the front door to departure. Our server was extremely knowledgeable not only about how the meals were prepared, but also how they source their meats, fruits, and veggies. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food. The portions were generous, my steak was so good I saved some for the next day, my dessert (Lemon Goat Cheese cake) was large enough to allow me a breakfast hors d'oeuvre for the next day!"

  • "Whenever we have a celebration, family reunion, out of town guests, want an excellent evening with superb food and friendly/knowledgeable wait staff, we go to Frog Hollow. Oysters, a must, pork belly appetizer, lamb shank, swordfish--every selection is outstanding. We spent the weekend with the trio of best places: Farm Haus for lunch, Frog Hollow for dinner and Craft and Vine for late night...doesn't get any better than this."

  • "I have never had a bad experience at Frog Hollow. I enjoy the food, wine and ambience. We had the pork shoulder and shrimp and grits. Those are our two favorite dishes at this restaurant. While the shrimp and grits were great, they were missing a little something...I just can't put my finger on it. The pork shoulder was excellent as always."

  • "Nice place would go again decent sized portions. Reasonable wine list. Had the braised pork shoulder and could not finish Wife had tile fish. All fresh"

  • "Very delicous take on soul food. Wonderful taste, great service, and a nice place. Bar tends to get a little loud from time to time, so if you want quiet, I suggest you request the other side of the restaurant, there are two large rooms and I suspect the other room is quieter. Did not detract from the overall experience though, I will go back."

  • "In my opinion this is probably the best restaurant in the Augusta area. Recommend too anyone that wants to enjoy a special night out or simply the best quality meal and service you can imagine. We went back to back weekends and they didn't skip a beat. Consistent quality and service. Can't beat it."
