We had a group of six which I thought may be too large for such an intimate restaurant, but this was not a problem. In fact our table was perfect, quiet enough so that we could all hear each other but not too crowded. The service was excellent and all the courses were delicious, especially the duck. My wife enjoyed the fish and the pork was perfectly prepared. I might also mention that my cocktail was a nice large glass. It's the same today as it was when it first opened: friendly, intimate, great menu of delicious and indulgent food, and all offered for a very reasonable price. The Fri./Sat, duck special with port reduction was done to perfection--medium/rare. They are known for their moules and frites--but we went for something different this time. We shall return.

We were not disappointed! The food was amazing from the endive salad & asparagus soup to the rack of lamb and pork loin. We also ordered a flourless chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. We were greeted warmly and professionally at the door by the host waiting at the end of a small but well stocked bar. Our waiter appeared promptly and was also friendly and attentive without being intrusive for entire meal. The wine list was more than adequate with good to excellent French an California selections. Since the place has survived a long time and rates highly I decided to give it another chance on our recent visit to San Francisco. So glad we did. Everything was wonderful. We took some friends there for their first visit, and they loved it. We had the steak, the dungeness crab napolean, and the organic roasted chicken breast, and every dish was delicious. And the pommes frites were thin and crispy, just the way we love them. We have eaten at Fringale many times, and we always have a wonderful meal.
