Friend of a FarmerGreat foodThis was a great place to eat I had the chicken pot pie and it was amazing6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMReally Nice Cozy SpotGreat food, great atmosphere- only complaint is that the service was a little spotty. No personality in the server or runner, and even though we were sitting enjoying coffee at the end of the meal, and they definitely were trying to move us along with the bill, etc. Other than that, a really nice time.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFriend of "Friend of a Farmer"I've been coming to Friend of a Farmer for years. It's a reliable treasure in the heart of Irving Place. Conveniently located, the menu is seasonal and oh so savory. I usually get my Chicken Artichoke salad and it never fails. Served with a side of red peppers and kale, it'll fill you up and keep you steady through dinner. Make room for desserts, they are decadent and enough for 2-3. The atmosphere is inviting, very rustic country. One would never think they were in NYC judging from the decor. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A great place to indulge for any occasion.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the chicken wrap andWe had the chicken wrap and matzo ball soup. Both were good. We were disappointed that they ran out of split pea soup. They were busy during lunchtime so service was a bit slow.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMQuaint & heartyA lovely place in a lovely neighborhood. Rustic and cute old house with a upstairs, downstairs and outdoor seating. They start you off with a big square of corn bread with homemade apple sauce. We had a piping hot chicken pot pie with a lattice top and a chicken club sandwich on thick fresh baked honey wheat bread. We also had an all crab crab cake - delicious! We were stuffed and relaxed!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMKnown for its large portionsKnown for its large portions at reasonable prices, this place is the mecca for hungry students and young professionals.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMeatloafHighly recommend their meatloaf! So delicious and an unexpected thing to order when you're out.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAn old friendThis restaurant for MANY years has consistently been wonderful. Fresh foods, great specials and one of the few places that does all meals perfectly. The homey atmosphere is a throwback and it is comforting to be in an established neighbor spot.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodie find!My friend and I were blown away by the food right up to dessert. Everything we ordered, simple though it was, was divine! My mouth is still savoring the ricotta butternut squash bruschetta. The cocktails weren't as exceptional especially for the price but I still enjoyed them very much. We were also tended to by our server on a timely basis. The reason I gave this a 4 is because we were seated by a rather large, loud group of girls and it was disruptive to our evening. I know the restaurant can't totally be held accountable butttt I felt it was worth mentioning.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our food very much.We enjoyed our food very much. They serve comfort food such as the delicious mushroom barley soup. Also the salmon sliders and chicken wrap were quite tasty. The portions were good and we enjoyed the nice atmosphere.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant was recommendedThis restaurant was recommended by my son who was there a few weeks ago with some co workers. Romantic evening destination with a casual, low-lit atmosphere. Service is top drawer. Reasonably priced for the location. Hint: Request an upstairs table when making your reservation.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMmet girlfriend for lunch duringmet girlfriend for lunch during the week...very leisurely...didnt rush us out...able to enjoy numerous cups of coffee without additional refill charges.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom a frequent restaurantFrom a frequent restaurant patron, I was thoroughly impressed with Friend of a Farmer. Some of the best food I've tasted in a long time. I can't stop talking about it. Try the Parmesan garlic shrimp.1/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
