Welcome to "Friend Of A Farmer"...made of warmth & wood. Carrie and Terry built, designed and carefully put together this cozy, country cafe. They wanted to bring back that warm country feeling, reminiscent of Terry's upbringing in a small farming town in upstate New York. The warm fireplaces,… homey atmosphere, as well as all the home cooked, fresh food creates a wonderful blend. "Went for dinner on Easter. First impression was solid, as the ambiance was stellar. The meal went downhill from there. Waiter forgot to recite the specials to us. Crab cake app was good but small. Butternut squash app was terrible. Soups were bland. Cheese plate was pitiful. For our entrees, we ordered the chicken pot pie, the meatloaf and the turkey w stuffing. All were under seasoned and disappointing. For dessert, we tried the homemade bread sampler, which came on an extremely hot plate that the wait staff failed to tell us was so scorching hot. My father burned his hand while moving the plate. The homemade bread was also disappointing. Our bill came to 180 for 3 people. One high point were the cocktails. I don't know how they survive!!"

"I had been trying to make it to Friend of Farmer for years, but after my mean, I dont understand what all the fuss is about. The food was completely bland without any flavor for both myself and my friend, and the wine was the same inexpensive bottle I buy myself at the local liquor store. The restaurant itself is very charming, but the food left me wanting more. Overall, I wouldnt say it was a terrible evening, just a disapointing one."

"I've been here a number of times before and have always enjoyed it. I went this time with a friend I hadn't seen in a while and we talked and talked and talked and ended up staying for almost five hours! Nobody ever bothered us or made us feel we had to leave. The food was very good and very plentiful (my friend ended up taking more than half of penne with chicken home.) And the atmosphere, as always, was great. It really does feel like a Vermont farmhouse. We sat in the small room upstairs which was nice and quiet."

"We had a quiet table in the corner upstairs, but it took 30 minutes to get our drinks,and the shared appetizers came before drinks - and plates were not brought to share the appetizers. My Terry Alan chicken was cold and the other plates were luke warm at best. The warm brownie was ice cold and when we asked to be heated, they heated the half-eaten brownie and it was stale and dry - and they did not offer to take anything off the check. Overall it was not a great experience. Atmosphere and ambience were nice though."
