The menu offers both small plates and exciting entrees, with most interesting starters (including its signature appetizer, Fried Green Tomatoes). On special holiday occasions, it offers a fabulous brunch buffet on Sundays which includes made-to-order omelets and carved prime rib--with sides of fresh salmon and shrimp, plus countless salads and more.
This is the restaurant that we recommend and/or to which we take visitors, as it's a "must" in the charming town of Galena. The building itself has quite a history which dates back to the days when Ulysses S. He was very polite and extremely knowledgable of the menu items. We had the lasagna and the pork bucco, both of which were delicious! The small loaf of bread with Parmesean was probably the best bread we've ever had as well. Overall I'd give them a 10 top to bottom. Both the food and ambiance were amazing! I had the 4oz filet done medium and the shrimp as my main course. It was truly outstanding. The salad came out in a big bowl that was shared by everyone at the table. It was very fresh and the raspberry vinegerette dressing was delicious as was the bread which accompanied it. I plan on going back to Fried Green Tomatoes in June on a girls weekend I am planning. Do make reservations if you plan on eating here because they were crowded.
