  • "I love the atmosphere here! Perfect lighting, lovely view out onto the beautiful main street shops in Galena! Our service was flawless and friendly, and there was a nice crowd for a Wed. night. The food, as always, was delicious. They have a really nice menu with a variety of great options for foodies, and a pretty bar to sit at and relax for a cocktail before dinner. I dine here every time I visit Galena.... My trip isn't complete without it!"

  • "The server was very attentive. The Chef made us Veal Marsala even tho it was not on the menu. It was DELISH!"

  • "My wife and I along with my 79 year old mother dined there on Saturday night, 8/16/14. They accommodated us with a table on the first floor to avoid the stairs which was convenient. We had reservations for 7 and was seated promptly. Drink orders were taken and of course had to get the fried green tomatoes! :) Drinks came quickly, and when the entree's were served, we were pleasantly surprised at the size of the portions. Each entree was very good. All of us had take home! Overall, an excellent dinner though I do miss the ambiance and quirkiness of the old location in the asylum just out of town. Some good ghost stories from that place! :) FGT is a must for dining when in Galena."

  • "We celebrated my mother-in-laws 60th birthday here this weekend and couldn't have had a nicer time. We had a group of 10 people and was given a private dining room. The atmosphere and service was excellent. The food was overall good."

  • "Located right on Main Street in Galena, and always good food. Not any more expensive than other nice restaurants in Galena. Anyone who has been to Galena has probably eaten at Fried Green Tomatoes!"

  • "We were waiting to give our name for our reservation and the hostess was laughing and talking to a patron, she looked over at us and then went back to her conversation which lasted at least 5-10 more minutes. On her way back, she still looked past us waiting at the podium and spoke with a waiter heading walking with him into the dining room and then came back to acknowledge us. We had put on the reservation that this was for an 18th birthday and there was again no acknowledgement of that. Our waiter was very friendly, but left a sour taste this time with our visit. May think twice about coming back after being here so many times in the past."

  • "This was our second time celebrating my daughter's birthday there. We looked forward to the dining experience and wern't let down. 2 adults and 4 teens. We all had a great time. The GIANT ice cream provided for the birthday girl was enough for the whole party to share. We would definately return when visiting Galena."

  • "The food was all delicious and our waitress (Gina) was very good. We all took tastes of everyone else's food and we loved everything! :)"

  • "We had dined at this restaurant a few years ago when on a bus tour. It was outstanding at that time. Maybe my hopes were set too high after our previous great experience. The lasagna I had didn't have enough tomato sauce and was very pasty. My husband's "mile high meatloaf" was okay but nothing spectacular. The restaurant is very pricey but seeing as it was our 46th anniversary, thought we would frequent due to our previous great experience. I would not go there again."

  • "Fried Green Tomatoes has always been a favorite while visiting the Galena area. We have eaten here about twice a year for some time and always enjoyed a great meal and good service. This time, however, we were a little disappointed. The service was slow and disjointed while the food left something to be desired. Since we have been there numerous times with great success I would still recommend it to others--I'm sure we will be back. They just didn't have the "A" game on for the evening we were there (Saturday, August 2, 2014)"

  • "We really enjoyed celebrating our wedding anniversary with dinner at Fried Green Tomatoes. We were seated promptly, and our waitress was great. We started with the spinach and artichoke flatbread. The bread and salad were fresh and tasty. I ordered the steak and shrimp, and my husband ordered the filet. We each had a glass of pinot noir, and our bill was under $100. Steaks were cooked to perfection--they got the temperature just right! At the end of our meal, our waitress surprised us with an anniversary dessert! Nice touch. Highly recommend this place!"

  • "The food was excellent, presented nicely. The server was on her game. She came around when needed. There are so many items on their menu to keep me coming back to try."

  • "Food was great however almost to simple of a menu. Would have liked to have more options."

  • "High reviews on yelp made me choose this place. We were early for our reservation and they were able to seat us. Our waiter was great, very attentive, but not in an annoying way. It's a cute restaurant with an intimate feel, but our food was horrible. The bread and salad were exponentially better than our entrees. I got salmon, which was dry and had no flavor. My boyfriend had lasagna which had very little sauce and congealed cheese. The food just seemed like it was made from cheap and old ingredients. We will never go back."

  • "Another recommendation from a friend that was spot on. Great service, great ambience, and great good. Very romantic spot for a romantic anniversary dinner."

  • "The food was good, but a little overpriced. The service was absolutely terrible. We (only two of us) were seated at about 7:15. It took 15 minutes for someone to take our drink (and food) orders. It took another 15 minutes after that until our drinks, salad, and bread were brought out. There were two or three different waitresses waiting on our table (one took our order, another brought our food/drinks, neither really checked in on us throughout dinner). The restaurant was busy, but by the time we left, there were empty tables around us, so I can't give them credit for being super busy and having a table slip through. Overall, it shouldn't take 1.5 hours for two people to eat dinner. Too many other good restaurants in the area to return."

  • "It's pricey, but if you are celebrating a special occasion, it is worth it. Our waitress was very friendly and took our picture when we asked her to. The food was amazing! We had the spinach and artichoke flatbread to start (amazing!) then the filet and shrimp for our main course. The mashed potatoes were possibly the best mashed potatoes I have ever had. Very soft. It was also easy to make a reservation. We walked in 15 minutes early and they got us in right away. Galena has a lot of competition in the food department, but Fried Green Tomatoes is worth going to if you're there."

  • "The service was good but seemed young and slightly awkward at times. My friends ordered the lobster ravioli which was delicious but my salmon and asparagus was pretty pitiful looking and very overcooked and dry, almost uneatable. I thought it was a family friendly restaurant so I took my 2.5 year old. We went at 5:15 so it wouldn't be too busy. Everyone was polite but there were no highchairs and the waiter seemed like he had never served a child before...ever. Most family friendly restaurants will bring out the kids meal first but this was not the case here, even when I asked for his meal to come out first. The location and ambiance were great though and I would probably go back without my toddler and try something different to eat."

  • "We had a reservation for 7' we were seated immediately, we were greeted by Ben and had some beverages delivered very quickly. He made some great recommendations, we ordered many appetizers, which were the bomb! Everyone complimented the meal, the service and it was my 60th birthday, and we were brought a huge dessert in an oversized martini glass that we all devoured how thoughtful of Ben!!! Thanks for making my special occasion even better"

  • "This was our 2nd time here and both experiences were pretty good. We LOVE Tipsy Tuesdays! $2 glasses of house wine....it may not be the best wine but it has about 15 different wines to choose from. We ordered the special app-red pepper and pesto bruschetta-delicious! My husband didnt like the sauce on the lasagne but the sausage and ricotta mix was well balanced. Chicken dish portions are small and a tad overpriced. The creme brûlée was a great end to the meal. Would definitely go back-great location and staff was very friendly"

  • "We booked this restaurant as part of our hotel stay. The food was to die for! The portion sizes were better than most places where we live. The wait staff was very friendly and professional. The food prices seemed a little high, but when you got your food it was well worth it. Ten times better than any Olive Garden or Red Lobster."

  • "The restaurant was out of the Jack Daniel's Filet the Sunday we visited - we both had "Just a Filet (6 oz.) instead. It was superbly tender, flavorful and just the right size for visitors who didn't want to take leftovers to their B & B. The mac and cheese, a substitute per my request, could have been creamier and more flavored with the gorgonzola it was said to have. Our server, Peter, was doubling as a busboy this evening but met our every need. He was charming, lighthearted and attentive. We shared the Tiramisu for dessert and it was delicious. I don't know if Peter chose an extra large slice for us because we were sharing but the portion he served us was plenty for two. We love Fried Green Tomatoes and will eat there again."

  • "Only one out of four dishes were above average. Our waiter was efficient but every time he stopped by our table and asked how the meal was tasting he was looking at other tables instead of engaging us. It was annoying."

  • "I love the appetizer choices so much that I ordered two plus a house salad as my dinner. The fried green tomatoes are delicious, and I loved the beef over mashed potatoes served in a martini glass. The house salad dressing is memorable."

  • "Food & service was great, only down side was dinner came out too soon after salads. Not enough time to relax & enjoy sour drinks & appetizers. Great waiter gave us complimentary dessert for dinner coming out too fast."

  • "My husband and I ate here last year and had the Lobster Boil Special. It was truly amazing and a great price! We told everyone we knew about it. That is why our first night back in Galena this year we decided to go to Fried Green Tomatoes again. I will say that the raw beef and caper appetizer we had was wonderful but that was as far as it went. My husband had the BBQ pork rib special. Definitely not fall off the bone. Sauce was good but meat was a little tough. I had the Chilean Sea bass. Equally as unimpressive. We had a half bottle of wine and our bill was over $100. I will say our server was very nice and attentive. Not her fault the food was mediocre."

  • "In addition to Fried Green Tomatoes my wife and I dined at two other restaurants in Galena during our July 2014 visit. Fried Green Tomatoes was superior to both. The service and atmosphere are great. The salmon with pecans were excellent. I look forward to eating there again and trying other items on their menu."
