A word from Friday Saturday Sunday
"Best tiny romantic restaurant" - Philadelphia Magazine “It’s a Rittenhouse Square classic. With its romantic dining room and cool upstairs tank bar, it’s one of the most vibrant spots with a finely rendered menu. Great wine list and only a $10 markup on each bottle.” –Craig LaBan, Philadelphia InquirerContinued

Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoyed the special fish dish (barramundi) and spinach/goat cheese ravioli in tomato sauce. Both were cooked to perfection. The wine was very good, service was prompt and friendly. We eat there often and will return again and recommend it to others."

  • "We came to celebrate 2 birthdays, as indicated on my open table reservation. It was a huge disappointment. First, the waitress suggested a new liquor for my husbands Manhattan, but the bartender brought the wrong one. When asked about the mistake, he snapped the drink away rudely & replaced it by slamming the new drink down on the table without a word. Our pricey meals were very mediocre & the waitress never returned to check on us. We had to flag down anyone for help. But, the 'regular' guests were attended to with a flourish and an apology. The first floor is very small, so we heard it all. We felt unwelcomed. And surprise - no candle. The overly expensive meal was completely forgettable, the service horrible, and we will never be back."

  • "We had not visited this restaurant for perhaps twenty years. But it remains quiet and intimate. The food was outstanding and our server could nothave been more helpful. This is more than a throwback - it is a place that has kept the ambiance of forty years ago makes it meld with current style. It seems like a nice neighborhood place to gather."

  • "It's no wonder FSS had managed to say around the past several decades. The food is consistently impeccable asks the atmosphere is warm, friendly and relaxed. I know I can always count in the delicious Mushroom Soup, Pate and my favorite, Creme Brulee. I'm looking forward to my next visit! "

  • "This was my 2nd time at FSS, and I was even less impressed than the first time. I have no idea why this place gets good reviews. The server was unfriendly, 'on' is to order (when there was only one other party in the place), less than accommodating of my friend's simple requests (if you have any food sensitivities or special needs, they can't really help you.) The food was ok, but not great for the price. There are so many better restaurants in Center City. Skip this one."

  • "Friday, Saturday and "Sunday has been around for a long time, and with good reason--its food is delicious. I have been been dining in this restaurant since it opened. Everything they cook is great--especially the crabcakes."

  • "We were in Philadelphia fr a special event, but had one night to ourselves. Found this restaurant on Open Table and liked the looks of the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and our evening. We asked the waiter for recommendations and followed his suggestions. The mushroom soup was superb. Loved the mussels an if you like lamb, it is great!"

  • "The place may be small but the food is delicious. The mussels and the seafood farro salad are must haves!"

  • "Lived here years ago and wanted to go, but never did. Glad we could get there on this visit. Great food and service in a Philadelphia tradition!"

  • "This restaurant is a wonderful choice for dinner. WE had been here several years ago and had forgotten it was here. I wanted rack of lamb for my birthday and saw it was on their menu, so off we went. It was delicious."

  • "I had a six o clock reservation and was running late and explained the situation to the host on the phone when I called to tell them I was running 30 minutes late. They were great about seating us and getting everything out to us very quickly because we had an 8 o clock show to attend. The food was outstanding, my wife and I both had the chicken tortilla soup to start and the filet mignon as the main course. The steak was cooked to perfection and was just awesome. This was my third visit to this establishment. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "Fri, Sat, Sunday was one of the original spots in the Philadelphia Restaurant Renaissance in the 70's and still is as good as when it first opened. Weaver Lily is still the owner and has kept this gem as good as ever. Wonderful food and service."

  • "Our experience with Friday, Saturday, Sunday was a pretty good one. The restaurant is a bit small and tight however, the service and menu options make up for it. All of the staff at the restaurant were attentive and eager to point out recommendations on the menu. We will definitely return to this hidden gem."

  • "The food is consistently terrific, but those who help serve are always so genuine and attentive (yet not intrusive), that it really enhances the experience of dining there. Always great quality!"

  • "My husband and I live nearby in Naval Square and have walked by many times. We finally decided to give it a try. It was a very pleasant surprise. The service was excellent, friendly, but not overbearing. I had the mushroom soup and my husband had the salad with pancetta. Both were wonderful. The soup is rich and wasn't overpureed. I could taste the small pieces of mushrooms. I had the pork tenderloin with a chili lime rub and crispy polenta. It was cooked perfectly, slightly rare, which is something most places don't get right. My husband had one of the specials, the braised beef short rib. He loved it. The wines were good quality. We will definitely go back again. The dining room could use a little updating."

  • "Thank you for providing a gluten free menu. My husband was very pleased with the food options he had to choose from. My order of chili rubbed pork tenderloin was done to perfection - very moist and very tasty. Great place to celebrate a birthday!"

  • "We had a girls getaway in the city and found this little gem. We all ordered different salads and entrees, tried each others, and they were all spectacular. Dessert was just meh. The dining room is cozy and close, but the crowd was friendly. The service was efficient, not fluffy at all, but the food more than made up for the busy hustle of the workers. Did I mention how great the food was?"

  • ""This neighborhood gem has been around for over 20 years. I have always had a good meal you can't go wrong with anything you choose. I love the relaxed feel of this place - like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.""

  • "My partner and I decided to eat at Friday, Saturday, Sunday after hearing great reviews. We booked early on a Friday evening (afterwork) and we were the first people there. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great. This is a place we will definitely be going back to."

  • "Friday Saturday Sunday is an amazing restaurant! There was honestly not one dish I did not like in the whole meal-- even the bread was great! The service was really good and the atmosphere is very unique. The restaurant itself is relatively small, but each table still somehow has its own space, and many of the tables have cozy bench seats. You are served very quickly after you order, but nothing about the experience felt rushed. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and I will be going back soon!"

  • "The service was good but under-staffed. Had to flag them down once in a while. Food and wine very good. Met my old friend and were able to converse in a normal tone. Would like more comfortable chairs. Will come back soon."

  • "We have been dining here since it opened forty years ago, and it has never disappointed us! Excellent food at reasonable prices with caring service. While the menu has certainly evolved over the years, the quality has remained high. Lovely, intimate setting that doesn't seem loud even when the restaurant is fully occupied. The menu has a variety of choices, with something for every palate -- fish, meat, chicken, pasta, vegetarian. Interesting array of appetizers, and excellent desserts! The wine list is wide-ranging in terms of type, country, and price, with no bottle marked up more than $10 over the restaurant's cost. If you are tired of paying $40 for a $10 bottle of wine, this is your place!"

  • "Once again FSS provided a wonderful experience, fantastic food and and warm and great service. It is amazing that after so many years, it is still as wonderful as it was when it first opened. The menu is always interesting with varied choices designed to please every pallete. The food is tasty, well prepared and presented. The shrimp and basil salad special was wonderful. I hope it becomes a regular choice. I cannot wait to return."

  • "I found out about this place through open table and by reading the reviews I chose to check it out me and my spouse went in with an open mind and came out sold. Keep in mind this is a converted corner row home so I would suggest grabbing a booth style seat for coziness and comfort they offer a full 4 course menu that you can choose from. For our date it cost less that $100 for our meal . There is a mixed crowd of old and young so be prepared for a new experience of great food, service, and atmosphere. Enjoy"

  • "My son and I ate dinner here recently and we were disappointed. We have eaten here many times in the past, but this was the first time in a couple of years and the first time the food was not great. My meal was fine but my son unfortunately had the shrimp cocktail appetizer which we both agreed was awful and his filet was tough and under cooked."

  • "Over 40 years, Friday Saturday Sunday has been the most consistent restaurant in Philly -- always delicious, always cozy, always warm and inviting. The mushroom soup is to die for, the crispy duck the best around, the daily specials always wonderful. We have been dining her since 1975, and have never had a complaint. (Well, our only complaint is that it's no longer open for lunch!). This place is a gem."
