Diner Reviews
  • "This remains one of our favorite spots and go-to places for a great authentic mexican meal. So different than what you get at the cheese & more cheese places. We did the Mahi Mahi (excellent), Chili En Nogada (amazing), & the always superb chicken tacos."

  • "Went Frida's for brunch with my brother & we both agreed that going to Frida's is so worth the drive from the Downtown just to indulge in what Frida has to offer!! The drinks were delicious, refreshing, tasty and well priced. The food was just so appealing we couldn't decide what to order so we chose 3 entrees to split (Yes, we were very hungry & longing for the food from "back home"), and please do yourself a favor and save room for dessert. You will love it. I have no idea why there is all the buzz for other "Mexican" restaurants down at Westport which are ridiculously expensive, have bad service and the food is just "meh". This is by far the best Mexican food in the KC area. We can't wait to go back."

  • "Frida's shows that fine Mexican cuisine can pair with wine and is far more diverse than typical Tex-Mex combos. They are adding event space for up to a hundred people."

  • "The food es muy delisioso!!! The inventive entrees are inspired."

  • "The menu had a lot of options, and the entree I chose was excellent and very well prepared (the scallops were cooked perfectly). Although there was some issues getting our food out at the same time, our wait staff offered us desserts on the house (which were excellent!). I definitely would like to go back and try some of the other dishes."

  • "Food is always delicious, but the Margaritas are outstanding."

  • "Guacamole was great. Entrees were good, but pricey. Small portions. Service was poor, very slow. Never had our water glasses refilled. Had to ask to order, ask for water, ask for check. Made reservation for 7:45 because Open Table said that was the only time available, however when we got there, there where many tables open and available."

  • "We visited at Saturday lunch. There were few customers, yet we waited to be seated because no one was around to greet us (walls around the entry make it difficult to know if anyone sees you've arrived). Our server was pleasant, but rather disinterested, mechanical. The green rice was delicious; the rest of my food (chicken w achiote) was just ok. Nothing special. My date's chicken in mole was similar. They've done a great job with Frida Kahlo art throughout the restaurant. The books on display made me want to curl up and enjoy them. Concept is a winner, but the dining experience needs improvment.."

  • "Every time we dine at Frida's we are more impressed by the offerings. The servers and staff are eager to describe the menu and encourage you to try something new. There is a passion in the dishes at Frida's that will keep us coming back and the staff is easily the best in our area."

  • "The service was bad, the restaurant was not that busy but I always felt like an afterthought. Ordered the "Valentines" dinner special, and everything took way longer than it should have. 5 minutes after ordering 2 glasses of champagne arrive, wait another 10 minutes then the soup comes after only 3 minutes the entrees arrive. It was not good, really makes me have second thoughts about ever going here again, too many other options."

  • "One of our go-to's, especially for the chicken tacos. But the Queso Fundido appetizer was great as well as the rest of our dishes! The Frida's margarita is a personal favorite albeit pricey. Generally service is very good but this time just a bit off, but we weren't in a hurry so still a wonderful dinner."

  • "This is the 3rd time we've eaten at Frida's and all of our dishes were divine. I especially want to recommend the fish dish with pesto, cilantro and white wine. I couldn't believe how good it was."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Frida's. The food was excellent and the drink list was interesting with well-crafted choices. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive; we were celebrating my brother's birthday and she did everything she could to make it a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend Frida's to everyone."

  • "An outstanding restaurant with some exception authentic Mexican dishes and a creative staff. Frida's is a destination for true authentic Mexican Food lovers. Wonderful / Creative menu means try something different each time- we have not been disappointed. Properly prepared Mexican food can take a bit longer but it is always worth it- take your time and enjoy. If you want Tex-Mex, this is not the place for you. If you want Mexican Food, Frida's is a wonderful spot. Highly recommended."

  • "The original dishes on this menus make dining there a delight. Their poblanos are deservedly famous and worth every bite! We had an excellent waitress Saturday night who was both knowledgeable and pleasant. Thanks for making our outing special."

  • "Very good food and nicely presented. Not busy at all on a Monday night. Not an inexpensive dinner but not outrageously priced either. Server was attentive and friendly but not overbearing."

  • "It was divine!! Ask about the storied history of this dish. You would be well-advised not to consume so many of those complimentary warm chips first or you might not be able to enjoy every delicious bite of your entire entree."

  • "Had a great evening. Wonderful, informative, friendly service. Food for our table of six was praised by all. We were graciously treated to after-dinner drinks. A memorable evening."

  • "This was my second trip to Fridas, but the second visit was every bit as disappointing as the first trip was a total delight. The mahi mahi was grossly over cooked, the service was kind but totally clueless, and the place was half empty. Hope they sort it out fast. I won't go back any time soon."

  • "It was our first time to eat at Frida's - we had heard good things from a couple friends who had dined there. The menu looked impressive so we decided to go on a Fri. night. While we had a reservation, we definitely did not need it as it was not a busy Friday night location, at least when we went. Our meal was AMAZING. The food was very delicious and service was good. The atmosphere was surprisingly very quiet for a Friday night. In terms of the food, we definitely would recommend as we plan to go back!"

  • "One look at the menu and you realize this isn't your average '2 tacos 1 burrito' Mexican food restaurant. The food was very delicious, timely delivered, and had a good presentation. We had the fish tacos and a pork loin meal. The salsa appeared to be very Pace-like however. The margaritas were tasty as well. If I had to be critical about anything it is the lack of ambiance usually delivered very by such restaurants. The bright lighting and close proximity to others seemed more like a fast food setup aside from some of the booths. In the end we will definitely be returning and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as a great stop for unique Mexican fare."

  • "We had reservations for 5 for a Saturday night and were excited because it was our first time at Frida's. I arrived early to discover that our lovely booth was situated next to a large family party with lots of exuberant kids. Given that two of our friends joining us are teachers and hear plenty of noise from children 5 days of the week, I asked the waiter if we could move. The staff sprung into action and set up the private dining room for us. No one was exasperated by the request and we had excellent service. Having lived in NYC and dined at many gourmet Mexican restaurants, I must say Frida's selections were the best we ever had. It's a week since we ate there and we're still talking about the food. We will tell everyone we know."
