Frida Bistroexperience of salt lakeWe heard about frida bistro and love to try new things, especially when it comes to mexican food. what a delight and knock out food. we loved everything about it. i have dietary restrictions and was guided along by our waitress and enjoyed trying new and exotic choices. i had a sea bass dish unlike anything i have ever had. what a gem of a restaurant and thanks for not smothering everything in cheese as most mexican restaurants. we have lived in utah for 15 yrs. and have had some "good" meals, but this takes the blue ribbon. we cannot say enough good things about it.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLike Frida, bold and unique.The food was great, a combination of authentic Mexican flavors with a modern touch. As you bite on the appetizer your palate take you back to a familiar place. The main course takes those classical Mexican dishes and gives them a new dimension. We arrived, were greeted warmly and with a Happy Anniversary (I indicated this on my reservation) and it went great from there. Kristin did a a bulbous job serving us. The ceviche and calamari were excellent. Scallops for my wife, shrimp for me.... Two great choices. Margaritas were perfect (as usual). The evening was perfect. Don't be put off by it's location (commercial warehouses surround it); just keep driving west on 7th south until you see the mural on the side of the building. The menu is not so large, but each of the featured items is unusual, a bit exotic and yet still adheres to the "Mexican" theme. The big list of margaritas is fun . . . so is the brightly colored, all "Frida" Kahlo decor. But what shines most is the food, with beautiful presentation and bold, delicious flavor (not everything is chile hot).5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day DinnerMy husband and I took my mom and dad here for a mother's day dinner. It was a great restaurant and perfect for the occasion. My only complaint is that it is in an "interesting" part of town. I'd definitely go again though, hence the 5 star rating. :-)

I mayself thought food was okay. I would like options for sides. Drinks were great! Although, need to be in a margarita glass. We ordered the anniversary special. We both had the sweet potato bisque and it was beyond excellent. However, for our main dishes one of us had food that was excellent (lamb chops) and one of us had fair to marginal food - chicken was dry and the rice dish was not hot, just warm and the one bite I took was without much flavor.
