  • "Great Food, Service and Atmosphere, will keep coming back!"

  • "Just heard about Frida's so it was the first time I had dined there. It was fabulous. I will absolutely eat there again."

  • "We recently had house guests from Australia who were traveling on to Mexico and they had no inking of what to expect food-wise when they got there so we took them to Frida. I just hope the meals they encounter in Mexico are even remotely as well prepared as what we enjoyed that night. Frida has really taken it up a couple of notches! We ordered four different Margaritas and passed them all around, delighted by the variety and the novelty of the cocktails. We then ordered scallops, bison steak, pork and sea bass. Each dish was prepared to perfection! Our server, Jessica chose our next round of cocktails and our desserts. All were fabulous! If you haven't been to Frida in awhile, get back there! If you've never been, you're missing out!"

  • "The food and drinks at Frida Bistro was absolutely delicious. Having a wheat sensitivity, I asked about GF options; the waitress was very attentive and made be feel at ease about which menu choices i could safely eat. The decor, music, and feel of the restaurant was great!"

  • "The small plates were awesome and the desserts were great too! Love this place for lunch or dinner!"

  • "Best margaritas in town! The mango habanero and Paloma are my favorites. Be sure to try the chicken meatballs in mole sauce too!"

  • "When friends and family come from out of town, I like to take them to Frida's. The restaurant is a great spot for catching up, with lovely décor, but most of all for the amazing food, well-presented, fresh, tasty, and GREAT service. It's a lively spot, but not so noisy that you can't carry on a meaningful conversation."

  • "What a great night. We were told Frida was a must for SLC dining. We were not disappointed. Love the decor, the wine list, and the food. inventive, creative takes on traditional dishes. I will definitely return to Frida next time i'm in SLC. Oh, did I mention the great service? Excellent waitstaff and onsite team."

  • "creative unique dishes and "fancy" mexican trad entrees, like chiles in nogada. some entrees tend to be a a little, to quite, sweet - so inquire of your server first if you don't care for that. a special of ahi with scallops was fantastic and very generous portion wise. margaritas good. the KILLER appetizer is the blue corn dusted fried calamari with a spicy garlic dipping sauce - i could eat it every day. love the ambience, wait staff are competent and some are friendly."

  • "Had a lovely meal at Frida Bistro. Beautiful food, including varied and well-prepared veggies, was complemented by terrific margaritas and followed by a perfect flan. The decor was lovely, the service alert and attentive, even the background music was great. Oh, and there was free, handy parking!"

  • "Three of us had lunch here and really enjoyed the food. The kitchen, however, was very slow, even with a restaurant less than half full for lunch. The decor was inventive and colorful, especially if you like the work of Mexican artist Frieda Kahlo. Our server was gracious and overall experience a good one."

  • "Bright spot in an unlikely warehouse neighborhood. Eclectic, fun decor. Service was very friendly, helpful and attentive. Blue corn crusted calamari were amazing. Some of the food was a bit sweet for our tastes."

  • "You'll not find a taco nor burrito here, at least not for dinner: this is Mexican with flourish. I personally recommend the mussels as a starter and the buffalo 'main' though each of the four of us had different dishes and all enjoyed what they ordered. Nice décor, bright and friendly interior, service was superb. Great evening."

  • "Michael Kikuchi is hands on and makes sure the staff goes above and beyond. I don't recall another time that a manager approached me or my guest suggesting the steak was over cooked....before a complaint or word was said. Good job!! Great food!!"

  • "We fly yearly to SLC to ski at Park City and were referred to Freda's by a fellow on the ski lift. It has amazing, reasonably priced Mexico City type Mexican fusion food that compares favorably to anything we have had in Mexico or Los Angeles. Try the stuffed chili pepper and the jalapena margaritas. Wonderful ambience and attentive and friendly service, tucked away in an industrial part of downtown not far from Temple Square. The kitchen viewing bar is real fun when the place is full (which is most of the time), and there is a wait for a table. We drove down from Park City to eat there twice on our last trip and just before our flight last Wednesday."

  • "I love this restaurant. The food is excellent and creatively presented with unique flavor combinations. The upscale Mexican theme of the food and the ambiance and the restaurant is charming, fun, romantic, and comfortable with its vibrant paint colors and Frida inspired decor. The inside is lovely and the patio is great as well. The service is excellent and friendly. I feel like I am on vacation or in a more cosmopolitan city whenever I eat here. It is a bit pricey but well worth the splurge. I highly recommend this restaurant for the entire dining experience. I especiallly love thechicken meatball appetizer with the chocolate mole sauce (it may sound like strange combination but it is delicious!) and the sea bass tacos. Enjoy!"

  • "The drinks are incredible! I liked the atmosphere, it felt sufficiently "special" without being real dressy. We had the huitlacoche quesadillas to start, which I thought were very good. For dinner, we had Chiles en nogada, and Diego Camarones (shrimp). Let me first say that my BF is a native born Mexican, so we have pretty high standards when it comes to Mexican food. The chile en nogada was LESS good than I've had in mexico, but good. The shrimp were large and expertly cooked. The presentation and service were top notch. This was fun because it was Valentine's and felt more special. But it was not as good as I had hoped it would be. Still, I will be happy to go back and try more items on their menu."

  • "The food and specialty drinks at Frida are always incredible! I have never had a dish there that disappointed. The Queso Fondido is the best of anywhere I've tried."

  • "Frida's is our favorite local place for interesting foods, great service and fair pricing. Without wines the 4 course meal was $50 per person and was yummy. Our only minor complaint was that the dessert pastry was too heavy and we were surprised not to have a chocolate choice as an ending!"

  • "I love this place. It is always on the top of my list when I have guests from out of town that I want to show a good time. The food is always fresh and unique. I'm glad to see a place like Frida Bistro here in SLC because as a "foodie" it is hopefully a sign that more restaurants will open that provide great service and outstanding food."

  • "Frida Bistro used to be my go-to restaurant in Salt Lake, the one place I could spend $100 on a fancy meal for two and always feel like I'd gotten more than my money's worth. Every dish was very good, and about half of them amazed us with their creativity, their perfect execution, and their ability to be bold and subtle at the same time. Not anymore. The appetizers (ceviche and sweet potato soup) were boring, which they tried to cover up with sweetness. The entrees (pistachio-crusted fish and pork mole negro) were pre-prepared, arriving less than five minutes after we ordered. They were good, nothing unpleasant, but not nearly what we expect from Frida Bistro. For dessert, we ordered a mole cake that had amazed us before. It came out dry."

  • "I'm a local and had heard of Frida's from many people. I love real Mexican food and the idea of modernizing it or making it fancy seemed silly to me. A friend gave my wife a gift card so we decided to give it a try. It's a popular place, although the location is not what you would expect. It is located in a warehouse part of Salt Lake. The food though was fantastic. I would very highly recommend the Comote soup!! I got the puerco en escabeche which was cooked perfectly. The presentation was great too. We looked at the dessert menu but didn't order any (dang New Years resolutions)! We also only drank water."

  • "I came here 1st two years ago and absolutely loved it. Very different than any other Mexucan restaurants I've been to in the past. So I knew, coming back to Sslt Lake, that I wanted to go back agsin!!! It didn't disappoint. The food and the service was great. The place was full and our waitress was friendly and on the ball. We also ran into a buddy who came to Frida for the 2nd night in a row!!! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something different than standard Mexican fare."

  • "Good food in an out of the way neighborhood. The menu has unusual tiwsts on Mexican offerings, but the food was very good."

  • "My husband and I were impressed with the descriptions of the dishes on the menu and with the presentation of the food. Unfortunately the taste left much to be desired. I had the Chile en Nogada. The sugar in this dish overpowered all other flavors. I felt that I was having dessert. When I told my waiter this his response was, "I did tell you it was somewhat sweet". No attempt or offer to make it better. My husband had the Pistachio-Crusted Sea Bass. His dish was flavorless. He didn't bother saying anything after the response from the waiter to my complaint. We read the reviews for this place and were excited to give it a try. We were sorely disappointed and after spending $60 on flavorless food will not be going back."

  • "This was a wonderful place for me to take my wife on her birthday. I have never heard of Frida Bistro, but saw that they had a high rating on Open Table. So, I decided to give it a shot. It did take a little longer than usual to get the food out, but maybe it just seemed that way cause I was pretty hungry on arrival. However, I thought the food was fabulous!!!"

  • "The pre-fix menu was highly disappointing, service was awful, and it wasn't even busy. No explanation of what we were eating, always had to track out server down for more drinks. Overall very disappointing."

  • "What a find! I hope that just the right number of people find this place and continue to support them. The food was unique and outstanding. Prepared well and plated to perfection. The service was efficient without being overbearing. The server avoided interrupting us when we were talking but was there when we needed her. I'll definitely be returning. Well done and my compliments to all!"

  • "Service is outstanding, food is very good, prices are outrageous. It doesn't matter how it's named, in the end you're eating chicken breast, mashed potatoes and 1/2 cup of veggies for $25!"

  • "This was one of SLC's trendy spots always packed on Friday and Saturday nights. They have raised prices considerably and an evening out for 4 was about $350 this last visit. The food is still very good, the kitchen inventive, and the service attentive. I guess one could say it is also good that the place was half empty at 7:30 and we were the last customers in the restaurant by 9:30. They seem to have lost their customer base, which was a lot of couples and groups out for dinner with prices that were moderately upscale. We enjoyed an exceptional preparation of mussels, the salads were substantial and interesting, and two of us had the pepper steak special, which was nicely done. Desserts were also wonderful. Hope it survives."
