Veteran restaurateurs David Loewenberg and Michael Nolan teamed up to open Fresno in the spring of 2004. The New American menu emphasizes simple yet sophisticated preparations of local fare. Located on the edge of the village of East Hampton, the space is an airy, sky lit room featuring a wall… of French doors overlooking a landscaped patio with a fountain where one may enjoy outdoor dining under a pergola. "We chose Fresno because it sounded good on Open Table and were pleasantly surprised by some of the best food we've had in awhile. The filet mignons were as good as we've ever had and the deserts alone were worth the 1.5 hour drive!"

"Food at Fresno is excellent and portions are large (sometimes too large). However, during Restaurant Week in which Fresno participated, there were only three modest choices in each of the courses and all the other choices had supplemental charges of $3 - $5, including some desserts. In addition, the waitress recited a number of 'specials' for the night that also had supplemental charges. This added a surprising tab for a party of six when one expected to pay $25 pp. In addition, the Restaurant Week listing showed a 'special' wine, however there was no specially priced bottle wine, only two glasses at about $10 per. Our waitress disappeared halfway through dinner, but (gladly it turned out) was replaced by an affable young man."

"We loved dining at Fresno during this past restaurant week in East Hampton. Our only negative comment was that our waitress seemed somewhat disinterested and was unable to answer simple questions regarding the menu. She could definitely improve her attitude!"

"The honest truth is that it was very disappointing. The maitre 'de stared at us and made hand gestures as we sat together looking at the menu on the bench of a two-person table trying to be romantic, very rude and uncomfortable. The salads were terrible, no flavor to cheese or pears, calamari way overcooked. The extra dollars added onto the fettucini/mushroom entree was a joke. Too much garlic and sauce too thick. The beef and polenta was just okay. Bread pudding was not bad. The bartender messed up a beer order. Most restaurants would have given it to us. For the extra monies tacked onto their so-called "Restaurant Week" menu, it was not worth it and just plain greedy. Would not go there again."

"Havent been to Fresno for a while preferring to eat there outside in summer but it was such a nice cozy experience to eat there in winter. We could only get a Rez at 6pm booking that morning and were pleased to find a prix fixe menu available until 6:30. We went for that and invested our money in a nice bottle of wine from their extensive list. We had salad, mussels with fennel and the salmon with cous cous and a smoked tomato coulis and were quite happy with our meal and ambiance. The staff was very attentive and extremely pleasant even after my friend and I were lingering at the table for a while. Love the bar there to also just go for a drink and Diego the bartender is quite easy on the eyes :)"
