A hole in the wall restaurant that one might just pass by and not notice as it is in a strip mall. It has become the "old friend" when we need a mental lift or to celebrate a special occasion. Over the years, we have enjoyed brunches, lunches and dinners and always have departed the premises with a positive attitude with our dining experiences. Our latest dinner was 2.5 hours of conversation and well timed deliveries of our order. It was a reminder of dining not eating. The bread is delicious, some of the best sourdough we've encountered.
We have one suggestion, and that is that the sides be updated/improved. We had great service from Francisco and our waitress, Carolina! Good recommendations and great knowledge of the restaurants' history and philosophy of doing business. Our water glass never went empty. Bought a deal on a social site and went out on a Saturday night for a "just because" dinner. What a pleasant surprise! It is a hidden gem! The wine list was great and we got a very, very good bottle of Cabernet. The food was equally delicious and each course was served with "just a little extra touch." We had salads, crab claws, crab legs, steak and lobster and each dish exceeded the next. Dessert - the chocolate lava cake with homemade rum ice cream - was to die for. I had thought reservations probably wouldn't be necessary but had made them anyway and when we arrived, the parking lot was full and people were waiting in line. Very nice restaurant. We were shown to our table and received water and authentically delicious sourdough bread. The waitress said the calamari appetizer was a favorite -- we'd seldom had calamari so said, why not and then decided on the rest of our order. The calamari, and every bit of the dinner, gave us probably the best meal we've ever had... we kept commenting on how delicious everything was. My suggestion, if not already on the lunch menu, is Garlic Shrimp, steamed vegetables and their marvelous sour dough bread.
