We were delighted to find the noise level quite low (below my previous experiences at this restaurant) perhaps because it being a mid-week evening. Noise level is a deciding factor in my selection of restaurants; my party was able to converse and enjoy being together, with a mix of ages from college to older people with hearing loss.
The food was excellent in every way, and the service was smooth and helpful. Everyone found something on the menu they were very pleased with.
I have been to Fresco several times before, and while my previous experiences were good, this all seemed a step up.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Seafood & Perfect AmbienceThey know how to properly cook food. Lot's of places are good at developing taste and texture combinations that keep one interested, and I love the number of restaurants in Madison that work with local farmers. But to actually know how to prepare Salmon, Scallops, and Tuna is a different story, and Fresco has delivered each of the 4 times I have been there. Best salmon I've had in Madison.
The wine list is extensive, with a nice range of prices.
The outdoor patio sitting atop the Museum of Modern Art is expansive and they keep the tables spread apart nicely. The wait staff was very helpful and friendly from the host to the waiter to the chef to the manager! A rooftop dining experience in Madison right above the Contemporary Art Museum - perfect location to every hot spot down town. The true highlight was the wine and the food! The chef creates a savory experience within each course within each bite! It was wonderful and I will certainly be back to try more dishes! From apetizer to dessert - truly a flavorful explosion! The price for dinner w/ drinks and dessert is most reasonable.....there's nothing about this restaurant I would think of changing. From the flowers to the steak knives to drinks to desserts....it's a gem. We were going to a play at Forward Theatre Company in the Ovature Center. Excellent food, served with unique presentations on modern china. Excellent, attentive service.Dining room was noisy and so it can be difficult to hold a conversation. It would help if the acoustics could be improved to soften the room enough to absorb more sound, although some people do like a noisy, energetic atmosphere. Certainly will go there again. We needed to ask for directions to find the restaurant and the theatre, because the signs in the Overture Center were not clear. But everyone was very helpful and we were able to find everything easily with their help. The entree portions were quite substantial. The mahi mahi with cauliflower rissotto was okay but did not have too much flavor.
