Diner Reviews
  • "Convenient, good food. Good pisco sours. Cerviche is very good."

  • "Staying in the area for month and eating out often, we were looking for a change of palate. Well, we came upon this neighborhood gem and loved it! Luckily we had reservations for the place was packed for a Sunday evening. The waiter was most attentive and helped explain the menu. We split an appetizer and each ordered different plates. How delicious. Actually my husband's seafood dinner was one of the best and most flavorful dishes he & I ever tasted. All of the food was delicious, the bar & wine had excellent choices, and the dessert just melted in our mouths. We actually remarked that when the check arrived that this was an excellent value for the entire experience! This restaurant has their act together. It's highly recommended!"

  • "Insanely great carne empanadas, but unfortunately some of our dishes were off the mark. Bland tortilla soup, dry pork shoulder and overpriced, small margaritas with too much ice, will keep me from recommending the restaurant to friends. The sandwiches were excellent however."

  • "We arrived about 20 min early to our reservation and they seated us right away. The place was empty maybe 3 tables but food takes a while to come out. I had Lomo Saltado it was great specially the French fries! Everything was really good. The only note I would make is that the service is a bit slow. In between sitting and getting the appetizers to getting food there was noticeable time where we waited. The staff there is very friendly and the food was great."

  • "No regrets here....definitely the best meal of our trip so far. The Scallops on the Appetizer menu are still the topic of conversation days later..."

  • "fun restaurnt, tasty food, sexy ambience that makes u feel like you are out on a date. Great, un-discoverd neighborhood...who knew?? Definitely would go back again."

  • "Great food and was surprised by the portion. The portion of food was VERY large compared to other restaurants. Went on a Friday night and was really busy. Our reservation was at 8:30pm, but there was not a table ready so we waited for half an hour. My friends were running late so I wasn't bothered by that. Ambiance: good mix of regulars and new patrons Service: Very good (one of us dropped our fork twice and there was a waiter to get a new one for us) Cost: Average, party of four with one shared app, four entrees, 2 beers, and a carafe of sangria $148"

  • "Always have a great experience there. Just this last visit, our waitress was probably distracted. I still would go back again. Food and drinks were great."

  • "Food was only okay, but the service although friendly was miserably slow. It took just short of 2 hours for a lunch!"
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "The meat looked good. Unfortunately, the vegetarian items were bland (quinoa and paella), expensive, not terribly inspired and served cold. The sweet potato chips were fantastic and the fish dishes good, if simple."

  • "I like this restaurant and the one in West Portal very much. (I haven't been to the Fillmore location). I usually get the vegetarian dish which consists of very delicately fried (you can't even tell they are fried) vegetables in a delicious sauce. The last time i ordered the trout dish which was also fabulous (and a huge portion of food - two meals worth)"

  • "My boyfriend and I come here quite often. Anytime we are in the city for dinner we always end up at Frescas. This time we got to share the experience with our friends and they of course LOVED it. Empanadas, Tequenos, Ceviche for starters and Lomo Saltado for dinner *drool* accompanied by some Pisco Sours. Also I must mention that I have NEVER been given bad service by the staff, not even so-so service. Great night, amazing food with awesome friends"

  • "The food was good and the service was very good. However the noise level was high. Good scene in that the rest was crowed which tells dinners the food must be good."

  • "This is our go to place to bring friends visiting Noe Valley. Outstanding food and stellar service! Since we had a baby they have been amazingly accommodating of strollers and high chairs. It helps that unlike tons of SF places they actually have room. Their booths are great for groups. We love this place!"

  • "My boy friend and I went here for dinner Saturday night. The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. Wonderful and fresh fish and steak, fantastic sauces, and properly seasoned."

  • "It was a wonderful place for Valentines Day. Food was great and it was nice and enjoyable. The presentation of food were a lot better before, maybe due to valentines day there was less time to be presenting. Overall a good experience and would consider going again on a normal day"

  • "rule of thumb=judge a good thai restaurant by it's pad thai and judge a good latin restaurant by it's empanada. this one did not come even close to making the cut. instead of a crispy, flaky crust filled with perfectly seasoned, minced goodies this was just one buttery dough ball. in fact, i am not even sure there was filling? on the plus, both ceviches were delicious and well balanced. also, the bartender rocked it will fresh, pisco sours. server was pleasant and very attentive."

  • "I've been to Fresca in West Portal and have always enjoyed dinners there. This time I wanted to try brunch at another one of Fresca's locations and ended up choosing Noe Valley. The restaurant looked like it had a similar kind of ambiance however we were seated at a tight corner by the windows to Noe Street. The food was very good however the service was a bit intermittent. I would love to try this place again in the future but probably sit closer to the middle of the restaurant so my guest and I are not forgotten about."

  • "We like their creamy pulled chicken stew, lamb stew, and the chicken soup. Unfortunately, they just can't serve hot food hot. Every visit, the food was lukewarm at best. We had to send back the soup and the stews a few times. The server told us that they do not have microwaves. The last visit on 02/07, the chicken soup was full of red bell peppers; the peppers completely overpowered the chicken broth and ruined the great soup. Don't understand why they had to change the recipe when the soup was so good in the first place."

  • "We were staying in Noe Valley and found Fresca listed on line as a recommended local restaurant. Glad we did! The food was terrific and the ambiance was fun, although a bit loud at times. Our party had a ceviche to start, which was excellent. My wife had a vegetarian dish, my daughter had seafood and I opted for steak . We all enjoyed our meals. Portions were large. Instead of wine, we went with Sangria, which was terrific. We would recommend Fresca."

  • "We love this place. We are regulars here for brunch on the weekends. My guy always does the bottomless mimosas and the huevos en cazulea, he's crazy about their lobster sauce! I have tried several things including the tequenos, avocado crabwich, and the mussels. I like it all and I look forward to working my way through the rest of the menu!"

  • "We were treated very well by the staff. Our friends' plane arrived late, this we were late for our 7pm reservation. They had held our booth for us despite the 20 min delay. The staff was very accommodating & fun. The food was excellent. We will be back next visit in the city!"

  • "We find the food at Fresca consistently good. New Year's Eve they had 4 specials as well as the normal menu. We had one entree from the special and one from the regular menu. Both were excellent. Reservations are recommended as Fresca has always been full whenever we have gone there."

  • "Two of our party ordered the same main dish--the pescado a lo macho. When the server arrived, he had two very different plates, one of which we'd asked for. He apologized and said that they'd "run out" of the fish I'd ordered and the chef replaced one of ours with a (very) different type of fish-- so we were asked to choose who would get the original dish. Very awkward, and we were all shocked that they would substitute fish without checking first or giving us the choice of ordering something else. The waiter was very nice and said the chef didn't tell him until the order was ready, that he too was shocked but still he didn't offer to bring something else. Apart from that the dinner was fine, esp. appetizers. The waiter comped dessert."

  • "We went to Fresca to celebrate dinner. A group of 5 adults and 1 child enjoyed a great dinner. The waiter was pleasant, and made great dinner recommendations. The ceviche sampler was incredibly good, and each of our entrees was delicious. We will certainly return."

  • "We were looking for something outside the hipster roasted fig with kale essence and found Fresca. Great food, interesting ingredients and lots of seafood. THE Ceviche is amazing and everyone in our party loved their food. Wine list is reasonable and portions are generous. Would definitely go back. Only complaint is that in a half empty restaurant they seated a group with a whining two year old immediately next to us. If people aren't smart enough to leave tired and cranky toddlers at home when dining at nice places, the restaurant could at least try to seat them in a remote corner."

  • "I made a reservation for 8pm and was not seated until 8:30pm, what was the point of the reservation? It took an hour and a half before we got our main course with no apology from our waiter. On top of all this I told the hostess it was my best friends 21st and she said she would notify our server, which never happened. No happy birthday, or whatever the restaurant does and we ordered our own dessert instead. Three hours total we were in the restaurant because the service was so slow! I will not recommend or be coming back again."

  • "We always go to the 24th St location when in SF because my group loves the balsamic Margaritas and pisco sours. Love both the bar and food menus. Fresca makes the best ceviches."

  • "I have been here a couple of times and love their food. The service this time was disappointing at best. The lady who met us at the door it seems was ready to leave for the day and was quick to let us know they were not accepting any more customers- didn't bother to ask if we had reservations . We waited more than 10 minutes to order and another 15 minutes to get our appetizers and drinks out (this while the waiter was chatting at a nearby table) Infact ordering seemed to be somewhat of a bother to them Overall the service was terrible! No apologies either- how rude?"

  • "The food here was delicious, cozy and fun atmosphere, good service, and some really good wines too. This is an excellent spot for smaller groups (6-8 or fewer) and also a great date venue. Highly recommend."

  • "The ceviche was amazing. Most other aspects of the food were outstanding. A bit noisy but fun, tasty and excellent service."

  • "Food was good, but the service was very rushed with several servers hovering. Twice, one server attempted to remove our plates while we stopped eating momentarily to have a conversation. We still had food on our plates and the server did not even ask if we were finished. We both felt that we were being hurried. It was not a relaxing dinner and was pricey. The restaurant is noisy and would be better with quieter music. Overall, a disappointing evening that was meant to be a relaxing way to begin a weekend."

  • "We only tried fish dishes (mainly since they were at the top of the menu and sounded so good) so I can't say anything about how the meat is. The food: Large portions of very tasty and well-cooked food. The ceviche was very good and is definitely worth a try. The chocolate cake dessert is HUGE, one plate is definitely enough for two people. The service: Great service! My fiancee can't stand cilantro which was present in a lot of the dishes, but it was no problem at all to get in dishes without it. The noise level: Fresca is a really popular restaurant which is pretty evident from the noise level which is really loud. The food and ambience still makes it worth going, but expect trouble hearing what everyone else is saying."

  • "I had previously only been to Fresca for brunch (which is fantastic), but decided to come for dinner on Friday night. It was FANTASTIC! The ceviches were absolutely delicious - especially the Ceviche de Coco. The Corvina y Risotto was out of this world! So perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection - and the risotto / quinoa cake that came with it was amazing. Will be coming back for brunch, lunch or dinner. I've been impressed and super satisfied every visit. Worth noting we had a 7.45 reservation and by 8pm the place was absolutely packed with people standing at the bar to wait for a table. Definitely worth booking in advance!"

  • "food was good & came in lrg portions. the bad: not overtly so, but will cause pause before I rcmnd it to anyone or dine there again myself. The first visit was good in way of food but fell short in srvc . The res made Mon nt Oct 28th, 9:15 pm I believe, the dinner was very much enjoyed until the staff made it quite clear by putting the chairs upside-down on the tables around us and the music turned off, that it was closing time. Wasn't nice, soured the exp for me and my company.Visit #2- good but a small quirk , I ordered red wine with my dinner and it arrived chilled! most red wines should be served at or below room temp. When I received my wine the glass was chilled, wine was cold. had to warm it with my hands for 10 min before drinkable."
