French Blue - St. HelenaVery French atmosphere, excellentVery French atmosphere, excellent menu. Patio is quieter than indoors....6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time toThis was my first time to French Blue. The restaurant is very open and has a combination of tables and banquettes with large stuff pillows. very comfortable. The server was attentive to our table.. We started with one of their house made cinnamon rolls to share while we waited for our lattes and mochas. The menu had a nice mix of brunch or lunch items, We ordered the following: Skillet Blueberry pancakes with a side of Applewood bacon. Crispy Duck Confit with a fresh Bing Cherry sauce and Polenta Sticks- this was fantastic the daily Flat Bread with pancetta, cheese and broccoli, which was very nice and the last items was a hamburger,it looked fabulous! There are many more items I would love to try and will definitely return.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal. Great burger,Excellent meal. Great burger, delicious duck and perfect lamb.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely evening! This was the perfect spot for our one night in Napa! The food was AMAZING! Just wish we could have sat in the conservatory. Definitely going back with my family!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMCasual French Country diningLoved the innovative cocktails and fresh local foods The new screened outdoor dining section will be very nice, but we appreciated the cooler interior on a day over 100 degrees! Soft cushions and sofas were so welcoming to sink into.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLight Lunch LuminosityThis was our fourth or fifth visit to French Blue - all for lunch and all inside. We'll always sit inside because we love the room so much with its white, rough finish, cottagy boards and light pouring through the front windows. My Soft-Shell Crab sandwich was cooked just fine, but I don't know that sandwich is the best medium for SSC. This was the first time I have had any disatisfaction with the food, but I'm partly to blame for ordering incorrectly for my taste. Mme. Meals' English Pea Ravioli in Parmesan Broth was the perfect dish - the little raviolis stuffed with peas in a shallow pool of the broth with fresh whole peas scattered about.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench Blue - St. Helena is a must!Loved it! Serene setting and beautiful calming decor. Food was excellent!!!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFive stars on all levels! With it's simple elegance and farm to table cuisine, F.B. is a wonderful departure from the grill/steak house environments that are generally the pairing for Cabernets of the Napa region. The fresh taste of the farm direct food holds its own with any wine of the region. Monterey Bay and the farmers cheese w/ fresh peas on toast points was a conscious awakening to really tasting and savoring every flavor. The leg of lamb w/ fava bean and their excellent burger was easily complimented by the merlot cab blend we had brought. The minimal $10 corkage further compliments the meal! Service was knowledgable of the daily changing menu, specific wines by the glass to pair with our starters and was attentive to our needs during our meal. A must try!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is very good. The food here is very good. My wife loved her spinach salad and the grilled artichoke is possibly the best I have ever had. The burger was good, but a little underwhelming (too much bun, not enough burger...) but my wife's trout was phenomenal. There are a ton of choices in Wine Country - this is one place we will go back to.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThey were so nice!We went out to dinner. Four adults, four teens/ pre-teens. The hostess went out of her way to accommodate us. She sat the kids in their own table which they loved. One of our kids has very special food needs. The kids' server was nice. patient, and came to consult with us to see if all is OK. We adults had a lovely time. The food was yummy, the server nice, and the ambiance is sweetly French-like. If you make reservations, request the patio or the couches indoors. Enjoy!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA repeatThis was our second time for brunch. Our guests were good friends. We all enjoyed our time very much. Table service was outstanding. A+ over all!
We will return.
Jess Miller5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSpacious setting, friendly staffSpacious bright setting with high ceiling. Staff are friendly and responsive. Fresh ingredients and Food is flavourful and hot. Flatbread of the day is good. Grilled artichokes are flavourful but might have included a tad more fibrous leaves that I prefer. Other than the not so soft pasta, the english pea ravioli is nice. Grilled trout is good. Love the bacon bits! If the fish can be a little more tender and juice! It will be perfect. The apple chunks do not go well with the delicate fish though. May be apple thin shavings may be better. 8/10 overall enjoyment. Would go back!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMfirst time and we will be back!We got in to SFO late, so didn't get to the wine country until after 9. Thought that our choices for dinner would be limited, since it was not a weekend. This restaurant was open and we were not the only folks there. The staff was friendly and sincerely happy to be there. The food was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is like a beautiful French cottage, and the dishes are available for sale along with other items to remember your visit. We will definitely make this a regular stop on our sojourn to the wine country in the future.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWell doneHad early seating on Mothers Day wich was much appreciated.
Very good service from our waitress, good humor and very acomidodating to my young daughter who is a very picky eater. Mom really enjoyed her meal of shrimp flatbread.
Over all a great experience.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Sunday BrunchPleasantly surprised by this newly discovered "neighborhood gem". The food was great and the ambiance was pleasant. Seating was available inside or outside. Great brunch location. We plan to eat here again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great! Ambiance wasFood was great! Ambiance was good. Service was...ok? Acceptable?...in need of polishing!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good.We have been to FB several times and found the food, ambience and service top notch. I love the unorthodox menu with dishes unique to FB and very special. We never hesitate to recommend the restaurant or to bring friends when we go.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, country ambianceWe enjoyed the romantic, country ambiance of the restaurant situated in the quaint town of St Helena. The bar and open kitchen were welcoming. The meals of roast chicken and lamb were delicious, complimented with local vegetables. A nice place to return to!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFriday Night Dinner at French BlueAlways a delightful experience, the trout is wonderful!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOnly negative is that we hadOnly negative is that we had to remind the waiter that our meal (breakast / brunch) came with fresh juice. He comopletely blew it off. But otherwise -- it was great!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMvery good food, a little priceyvery good food, a little pricey for brunch but nicer than your average food & a nice place to sit outside4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything but the meatsOur service from Matt was excellent. We very much enjoyed the roasted artichoke starter, the arugula with dates and cashews salad, the spinach and asparagus salad, and for dessert, the strawberries in a puff pastry with creme fraiche. We were disappointed with the lack of flavor in the Rib Eye steak - the cuts we buy from Olivers in Santa Rosa and that my husband prepares and grills are far tastier. The herb crusted lamb with couscous was also not as flavorful as the lamb we buy for home. However, I think the heated leftovers the next day tasted slightly better. Maybe the meat buyer should look for a better source for their meats.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful!Loved our experience here, from soup to nuts. Very cool, laid back vibe and the food was delicious. Looking forward to going back!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely outdoor dining, fantasticallLovely outdoor dining, fantastically prepared fresh food, attentive service and delicious desserts. Individual tables need a candle.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench Blue had me at theFrench Blue had me at the first look...beautiful setting with quite good food! Aesthetics matter a lot to me and this restaurant is so pleasing in many ways...it may be surprising that the food is so delicious, too.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMy only complaint is thatMy only complaint is that you have to purchase bread as an extra. They would score huge points with me if they served their cheddar bread complimentary, it's delicious!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. WeThe food was excellent. We were there for a birthday celebration, which I noted when I made the reservation. I guess they don't do anything for birthdays. Our server was great, loved the dining room, and can't wait to go back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the 3rd time we haveThis is the 3rd time we have eaten at French Blue. We can highly recommend this special place any time of the year. French Blue has a wonderful open kitchen. Very fresh ingrediants and fun new cocktails to explore.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHave been twice....a lunchHave been twice....a lunch and dinner...and both times we were impressed with this new restaurant.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCould not be more fabulousI can't wait to come back again. The grilled trout was flavorful, light and delicate. The presentation was artistic and
The entire interior of French Blue ( by Howard Bachen) is inviting, aesthetic and in
exquisite taste.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite French FlavorReally enjoyed the outdoor seating area. Great french style omelet with Mt. Tam cheese on top, very subtle and savory. Great with a side of potatoes.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch was perfectWhat a delightful spot. The Sunday brunch was yummy. They have the best coffee!!! The "you have to try" cinnamon roll was perfect for sharing. Everything was delicious and the service was perfect. My only suggestion would be to come back and refill our coffee- we loved it so much we drank every drop.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA very pleasant experience,A very pleasant experience, with very slow service.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find, book ahead butWhat a find, book ahead but we did see walk-ins for lunch. The dining patio was lovely with food and service to support.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat menu, great space!Great menu, great space! Recommend avoiding peak days and hours, can be noisy and a bit too energetic at times.
Perfect for breakfast, lunch or brunch. Do try it.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth trying, at least once...Beautiful, elegant decor. Diverse menu but you have to choose carefully, some are much better than others. Only been there once and will need another visit to further evaluate. But it is good enough for a second trial. Ambiance is wonderful as is outdoor patio.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMconsistently great experience!I have been to French Bleu several times. This last time I brought in three of my out of town friends. All the food was very good. The wait staff were friendly and non intrusive, and made great suggestions. We all had different dishes, and all were fabulous, though the burger, ordered medium, seemed a bit under done. I'd note that it wasn't sent back, however, because it was delicious! Don't miss the fabulous cinnamon role! The trout was amazing, and I am a big fan of the potatoes.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything about thisLoved everything about this place - excellent food and lovely location.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench Blue is a star in TheFrench Blue is a star in The Napa Valley lineup. This is a very special place to St Helena locals, so would be a great discovery for visitors.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at French Blue wasThe food at French Blue was exceptional. I did a little research before we went and even though the written research was very pro French Blue, I have to say that it was far more exceptional then what I read. The food was wonderful with the various combinations of local flavors was what I have not experienced. My party had a wonderful experience, the service was great and the ambience was beautiful.
This restaurant is on my list to revisit when I get back to Napa, tell you the truth, if I lived in Napa I would likely frequent French Blue on a regular basis.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench Blue was our favoriteFrench Blue was our favorite breakfast our entire trip. I think that says a lot because everything was amazing, everywhere we went.
The service (Alexis) was great, the restaurant was clean and modern with rustic charm, and the food was outstanding.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMTrout was amazing--perhapsTrout was amazing--perhaps the best fish I've ever had in the valley. Outdoors eating is nice, staff was pleasant and professional. Recommended!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time here. We loveOur first time here. We love the space, openess. All of our food selections were wonderful. We will be back!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGorgeous restaurant!Gorgeous dining room. Friendly service. Great food. Only disappointment was they had run out of baguettes...toward the end of our meal when we wanted more for our cheese plate.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench Blue- quality and comfortOn our most recent visit we enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich and chicken paillard salad. Both were great lunch items. There is also an interesting list of cocktail offerings. One of our favorite aspects of this restaurant is the casual elegance and comfy pillows on the banquette seating. French Blue offers the perfect combination of quality food in a relaxing environment.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time there - great experienceFirst time there - great experience. server was very good - food interesting and good.
