It was expensive, but not so much considering that you are in Gold Coast on top of a very expensive clothing store. I thought it as a great place to have our dinner before going to the theatre. Lots of traffic and people relaxing in small bar area. We went to an early dinner, we were the only inside table occupied, and the music was piped in at a level at which we could not carry on a conversation. I asked for the music to be turned down, but it was still loud. The selection was great. Outstanding wine list. It was hard to pick what to eat. The food was excellent. I would love to go back next time in Chicago and just have a salad. As we ate our lunch a lot of customers were having salads. I almost wanted one to go they were so big. Next time. I like to be left to my own conversation with the people I came to dine with. The seared octopus appetizer is worth another trip for sure. Also they cured the salmon in my appetizer on site and it was to die for. The wine list was shorter than I was used to and I loved it because they were affordable but someone had really culled the list and I was happy with both the red and white we ordered. Terrific desserts also. We enjoyed each course well prepared and presented, fresh and tasty. My dessert was not so great the Itallian potato flour cake with mixed berries . The cake was really dry and tasteless and the mixed berries consisted of ONE strawberry cut up and 6 blueberries!!! A little hesitant wondering how a restaurant in a clothing store compared to the many other options in the area, I gave it a shot. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The pizza was delicious and the chicken milanese was excellent. The service was also what you would expect coming from Barney's. My wife and I new to the city and recently dined here for the second time. Both visits exceeded our expectations. The food is quite good. We've had the pizza, pastas, salads, and desserts. I am glad we did. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent. We split the prosciutto and arugula pizza as an appetizer. I had the risotto with lobster and scallops. The risotto was cooked perfectly! My girlfriend had the salmon which she said was excellent. I wish I could give you my opinion on it, but she didn't share. During our dinner the manager (blonde girl) who stopped by to ask how everything was also very pleasant. I wish we had made the trip up to the 6th floor before. We were there on a very cold night and the fireplace was just what we needed. We had a very nice meal and the service was attentive. The food was better than it has been on previous visits. A vegan pureed broccoli soup was truly outstanding, full-flavored and served piping hot. The spaghetti and meatballs was surprisingly good, with a fresh-tasting sauce and small, tender meatballs. Chocolate cake was served with a real scoop of ice cream rather than the microscopic portion encountered in some other places.
