Diner Reviews
  • "Menu is good but the food isn't so good. Excellent service but over priced for what you get. Better bet is Maggianos! This is NOT great Italian that you might expect in Philly. Concierge recommended"

  • "I have heard so much about this restaurant and how amazing the food is. Well let me tell you the food is awesome and the service is awesome also. I will be visiting more to try some new stuff.. The Crab cakes are amazing!!! The prices are reasonable and the give you alot of food to eat."

  • "The service was good, the food was just ok for a quick diner, the bread was cold and seem to be a day old, I had Tilapia and it had too much butter and no taste for what it cost. I would not go back and would not recommend it."

  • "I found Fratellis by doing a search of restaurants near the Academy of Music. They had a great selection of pastas as well as seafood. The food was tasty and the portions generous."

  • "WE HAD DINNER HERE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND WERE PLEASED SO WE BOOKED IT FOR LUNCH AN D TOOK A FEW FRIENDS--EVERYONE LOVED IT!! THE DECOR IS SLEEK, THE SERVICE FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT AND THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!! SEVERAL MEMBERS OF MY PARTY HAD THE SHRIMP SALAD --IT WAS OUTSTANDING--AND THE PLATE OF PASTA POMODORO WAS A HIT--WE WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK!"

  • "Date night with my wife. We were seated right away. The only downside is they were out of the dish that my wife wanted, but they were able to accommodate and modify for her."

  • "Always a great experience at Fratelli's -- never rushed reagardless of how busy they are. We visit Philadelphia regularly because my daughter is a college student in the area. We are always welcomed at Fratelli's...never disappointed!!!"

  • "Our group of six visited Fratelli's after attending the Philly Pops. The food was great and our server, Dawn, was just a delight. Had a great time. Thanks,"

  • "Food was excellent. It had a good combination of "typical" Italian cuisine and some interesting alternatives. The chili pepper chicken rigatoni was fantastic. The chocolate mousse was phenomenal. I'd go back just for that. Jess was a great server. She was personable and funny. Added to a great dinner experience."

  • "I read several OT reviews before we went. The staff was pleasant and our waitress was very attentive. I had the Four Seasons Salad, which was enormous (entrée sized) and very tasty. Some of the fish dishes were better than others. Two identical orders were presented differently. The pastas had decent flavor, but were a bit too heavily salted. The calamari appetizer was plentiful and our party ate every bit. I also tried a flatbread, based on the reviews, but it was soggy and not to my taste. Overall, I would go back, but would try different entrees. We tried the flourless chocolate cake and the tiramisu. Our party enjoyed both."

  • "Loved it. Went on a Groupon. Best service I've had in years."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "We had a groupon for this restaurant that was valid on weekends, so we gave it a try. Our waitress was outstanding and really took good care of us. The food was good and was served piping hot. The restaurant was a little noisy and open to be considered romantic but overall it was a good center city spot to catch before a show."

  • "We came here on a Groupon during a visit to Philadelphia and were happy with the choice. We shared lobster ravioli and penne ala vodka, both of which came with large salads. We also had creme brulee, which was the highlight of the meal. Everything was good and portions were large. Our waiter was also really friendly and more than helpful when we asked for an after-dinner bar recommendation."

  • "Knowing that Fratelli's is in center city right in the middle of theaters, etc, their dishes were priced a little on the high side, in my opinion. Both my and my wife's meals were very good and the portion are very large --- we both only ate half."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "For being in the heart of center city Philadelphia, the prices here are very reasonable. Not to mention the food quality. Each serving is good for two meals. This time tried the gnocchi's, which were very good. Spouse had eggplant parm. The only thing better than the eggplant was the red sauce that it was in...out of this world. If traveling to center city Philadelphia and don't want to pay big city prices, yet want quality and quantity, then this is the place to go."

  • "My friends and I were there for a quick dinner on a friday night before a show at the academy of music. Although the food was well prepared (they have a good selection of pastas as well as common seafood), the waitress did not seem a bit interested in her job. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but our whole table agreed that she was not friendly/welcoming since the moment we sat down. Hopefully what we experienced with service doesn't represent the vibe of the entire restaurant."

  • "I'm a fanatic for Italian food so I'm always looking for something unique at each restaurant. Fratelli's has some of the best antipasti I've had. My bf and I had the stuffed mushrooms and the lobster cheesecake (sounds crazy, but trust me) and we loved them. The main courses were traditional styles. Good, but didn't "wow" me. Oh and if it matters to anybody, the salads were crazy fresh."

  • "Waitress was great...expediting service as we were under a bit of a time constraint. Having not been disappointed once again with the food here we joined the affinity program and will surely return soon."
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "Given the center city prices compared to the food quality, would recommend another venue. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The food was well prepared but completely lacking in taste and seasoning. The wine list was dominated by french wines by the glass to go with the italian menu? Sorry to be negative, but this establishment was just not up to other downtown eateries."

  • "I went for a Sunday brunch with a group of 4. Although listed on Open Table as having an 11:45am seating, Fratelli's does not open on Sunday until 12 noon. This was no problem. We were seated promptly. The service is impeccable and the food delicious. Not really brunch, more like lunch food, but very good. Had a great Caprese Salad with large mmmmgood succulent shrimp added. The salad was generous and fresh with scrumptious fresh mozzarella, perfectly roasted red peppers, surprisingly tasty tomatoes (for this time of year) and salad greens - all drizzled with piquantly rich balsamic vinegar. My lunch companions equally enjoyed their meals. All was good and the prices reasonable."

  • "Food was great. We were seated right on time of our reservation. Service seamed to be stretched a little thin but was very attentive and took very good care of our needs. Would go again."

  • "This was our first time there on a recommendation from a friend. Food and service were awesome. Would recommend and can't wait to go back."

  • "Service was very nice. My partner's entree, beef tortellini was very good. My salmon was just ok. The bread was good. But had it been served warm it would have been much better."

  • "My girl and I choose Fratellis for our anniversary dinner we found the food and atmosphere adaquate"

  • "After a long day which began with a train ride from the hinterlands to the PHS Flower Show it was a short hike to Chestnut Street and the Bistro. We came in long before the crowds and were shown to a nice, comfy booth. Our young waiter was friendly and very attentive, answered our questions easily. The food was very good. I took advange of the prix fixe - $25 for an appetizer, salad and entree (crab cake appetizer and salmon entree). My friend ordered scallops with mango salsa. Both our dinners were very good: tasty, filling and well-seasoned. This restaurant was selected based on diners' reviews and did not disapoint us!"

  • "This was just an OK place. Food, however, was good."

  • "I was late due to traffic and we were seated right away. The waitress couldn't have been nicer and suggested foods she thought we would like. we went with the Prix Fixe offerings. The veal Parm was done perfectly and the sauce was just right. We also tried the salmon and were delighted with both meals. Even though we used a Groupon, I don't feel like our service suffered. as I looked around, it seemed like everyone was enjoying their meal"

  • "My friend and I dined here prior to going to the Barnes foundation and flower show. I wasn't sure what to expect because of some of the reviews that I had read, but we had a groupon and wanted to give it a try. It exceeded all of my expectations! The hostess was so nice to us when we arrived, and we got sat immediately. We did the 3 course pre fixed menu, which was the perfect amount of food. Our server Chris was excellent, and all if his recommendations were fantastic! I will be back! Thanks for a great evening"

  • "I bought a Groupon for this restaurant because of the proximity to my workplace and we were able to use it on a Saturday night. My husband and I were very pleased with our choice. The décor was very nice and the restaurant had an expansive feel because of the high ceilings. The food was very good and plentiful. Our waitress was pleasant and very efficient. The overall experience was very nice, I even recommended to many of my co-workers already."

  • "It was great after leaving the theatre. The food was delicious and enough to take home and enjoy the next day. The décor was charming and comfortable, the service good. We will try it for lunch."

  • "My husband and I had a relaxing dinner. It's a little pricey but their quantities are large enough, unlike some other restaurants. I would go again with the Groupon deal. They had a groupon deal, $50 for $25. Totally worth it."

  • "We were a party of three....we all enjoyed the cocktails and our dinner was terrific."
    Dined on 2/23/2014
  • "After reading reviews on Open Table, I was very optimistic about dining at this restaurant. We were a party of 4 and none of us thoroughly enjoyed our entrees. We didn't bother complaining since all 4 meals were different so we doubted anything else we asked for would be any better. The bread, salad and calamari were very good as was the service. My daughter also enjoyed the chocolate chip cheesecake. The one person who may have enjoyed his meal was the homeless man that my younger daughter gave her meal to."

  • "Food tasted like it could have been from one of those family buffet places. Poorly prepared and only fair quality. We were given a Groupon which is how we found ourselves there. It became obvious that they have decided to be a restaurant where a Groupon is always readily available. Their prices have gone up considerably to cover the charges they must pay to the company and their quality has gone done in proportion."

  • "I would definitely recommend reservations. Been here twice in the last few months. Used to visit old location on Broad (loved it there). Food is good, not blow you away good, but the prices are great! Deserts are are so-so, had quite a few and they were just ok. Never been disappointed in a meal that I ordered. This is not a place to be overlooked. Give it a try!"

  • "I chose this restaurant from their web site not knowing anything about the food. My choice was mainly made because it was close to the Academy of Music. What a wonderful surprise! My son and I both picked the fixed price dinner, the price of 25.00 was more than a bargin. The portions were large and the food was excellent. My husband and I will definately be back in April when we have our next show tickets."

  • "The service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. She was genuine without being overbearing. She gave us honest recommendations and didn't just push the most expensive items. The restaurant staff easily accommodated my daughter's wish for a lighter, more healthy option for dinner. The food was average, but fresh."

  • "We went to Fratelli's the evening before the latest wirer snow storm--the restaurant was quiet because I think forecasters scared folks--we had a wonderful waiter and the food was very good--we ordered simply--I had a salad and grilled shrimp and my husband had veal & shrimp piccata--both we wonderful because the chef kept it simple-if you have good quality products you don't need a lot of sauce or toppings--will definitely go back!"

  • "The bistro is so count-on-able; always able to get a good salad or pasta there. I appreciate that, being an Italian restaurant, they offer more than the expected Italian salad offerings. (I've never tried their flatbread, but have friends who report that they're quite good.) Great location, good food, and I can actually hear my friends' conversations."
