It was in a nice neighborhood setting on Nob Hill with lots of trees surrounding it. The view was pleasant. Service was great; my swordfish was fantastic! It's nestled in a quiet area of Russian Hill. The staff is very friendly and the wait staff was very helpful. It's really a very pleasant and relaxing place to have a nice dinner. We had the cheese plate to start, which had a brie, goat's milk cheese, a blue cheese, and something else. It was what I expected and was very well presented. The potato gnocchi was also tasty. We had a pasta dish for dinner which was above average. A nice quiet space with good wine and good food. The bill was just over 100 for the two of us (including a bottle of wine). Great decor: high ceiling, cross beams, second level and copper everywhere are nice touches. The attentive and energetic wait staff is excellent.
Sitting in Frascati on Russian Hill, watching the trolley cars roll by on Hyde while eating Mediterranean/Californian-style food makes for a memorable evening.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming Foodie GemSix of us went there after seeing Jersey Boys downtown. Considered taking the cable car to and from but will do that another time. Our reservation was at 6-we got there at 5:20 and found parking out front! Staff welcomed us tho they don't really open till 5:30. Sat upstairs and some of us were able to look down into the energetic amazing ktichen and sou chefs-wow. Food was fantastic, Italian and California organic with lovely options for foodies, vegans, meat lovers. Wonderful wait staff and fun atmosphere. This was my second time there and it continues to delight!

We chose the gnocchi and duck salad for appetizers - both were nicely portioned and hugely flavoursome, and really created anticipation for what was to come.
For entree, the monk fish was perfectly cooked, with a delicious citrus sauce that balanced the creamy potatoe/fennel puree. The steak was tender, cooked exactly to medium rare and really complimented by the tasty jus.
We could only manage a shared pannacotta, which was silky smooth in texture, made more interesting with a crumb and some fruit.
Service was friendly and attentive, and they didn't clear away my husband's plate until I had finished eating which, to me, is the right way to go. We were upstairs in the back loft at the corner table that overlooked a beautifully done window overlooking the street.
We sat down and were once again greeted by a super friendly waitress who was very accommodating. The atmosphere inside was relaxing and romantic. We ordered the octopus salad and gnocchi to start which were exceptional, every bite was mouth watering.
Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we ordered the chicken and monk fish.. Both, incredible from the first bite to the last. It was my husband's birthday and they put us all the way in the back in the upstairs room in front of the closet. the table and room felt a little claustrophobic. We were seated upstairs where the atmosphere is warm and cozy. The mushroom bruschetta, filet mignon, and monk fish were absolutely delicious. Service was very good, too. I had to drive around the neighborhood for 30 minutes before finally finding parking on Chestnut Street. Turns out I was so glad to have parked there, because the view at sunset and after dark is fabulous (esp. from the top of Lombard St)! If you're not interested in the walking hills or taking in the view, then be sure to take a taxi or cable car - there's really no parking in that neighborhood.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the filet mignon, whichI had the filet mignon, which was excellent. I have steak practically every time I eat out, and this steak had a unique flavor that's hard for me to describe beyond saying that it was fantastic. My wife had the roasted chicken which also had a rich, unique quality that was very good. We didn't have any dessert because there wasn't anything chocolate except for bread pudding--which I hate.
The service was also good. The waitress was warm and friendly without pretending we were long lost friends.
My only complaint was that there were no free refills on soda--maybe it's a San Francisco thing. We took our parents here and everyone kept raving about the food and the wine. We had a california Chardonay that was buttery as we like it. We started with the suculent octopus salad and the to die for stake tartar. We then had some phenomenal entres.
