Diner Reviews
  • "We love Frasca and go here maybe twice a year, for a splurge dinner. It's our favorite restaurant in Boulder. The food was fantastic. We got the seafood crudo for appetizer, and a pork belly dish. For the pasta course, a pasta flavored with truffles, and this delicious crab-meat canneloni. My husband got the quail for the main dish, and I got snapper that was fried/seared on one side, with a crabcake on the side. Everything was interesting, perfectly cooked. Service is impeccable as always. This time we sat in the private dining room which was opened to regular dining--it's not quite as pleasant as the main dining room because you're far from the light and windows. But it was pleasant."

  • "It was the most delectable dinner ever. They were awesome, too, for making it the birthday celebration we were hoping for."

  • "The presentation of the food was impressive, but not a taste sensation. The flavors paired well w/ the wine. We found the service somewhat pretentious. Our server lacked professionalism by cutting into her welcome and explanation dialogue THREE times to talk w/ another employee-we felt we were second priority. She was also stiff, and more involved in the information she had than on the guest. The busboy was the only one who practiced open armed service-something expected in a restaurant of this caliber! A snafu about the espresso brought an inordinate amount of attention followed by an extended diatribe by the maitre'd about the history of coffee. Again, more interested in relaying what he knew than the guest.Very disappointing..."

  • "service was excellent. Food was only ok. Expected more. Fixed menu didn't offer many options. It was expensive. table near bathroom was high traffic area. It was nice that they recognized anniversary on dessert overall, disappointed."

  • "It was amazing for our anniversary with our baby girl. Every single member of the staff knew everything about everything. They were a perfect mix of professional and fun. We loved the food and the service and the knowledge."

  • "We have dined at Frasca in the past and took a guest for her birthday. As usual, we were highly impressed with the service, food and overall experience. We were pleasantly surprised to find they have finally added a chefs tasting menu! We can't speak highly enough about our experiences at Frasca!"

  • "Menu, preparation, presentation, quality and service all superb. The class of the servers also makes a huge difference when a dining experience is important. It is wonderful to find a restaurant that values quality and the customer."

  • "We went on a Monday night and did the 4 course pre-fixed menu. It was exquisite. The food is high quality and has a unique flavor. The tiramisu desert special might be the best tiramisu I've ever had. Too bad it's not regularly on the menu. I'd definitively go back."

  • "This is one of the best meals I have ever had. The wine pairings were perfect and interesting. Service was impeccable and beautifully coordinated. We went to Frasca to celebrate our 20th Anniversary and it was well worth the price and the hype is well deserved."

  • "We had an 830 reservation and arrived early but also with an extra person. They said that would be ok but then did not seat us until after 9. We were welcome to order a la carte, so we all ordered two courses instead of the four course tasting menu as it was quite late for us. Then we had to ask to order drinks. They brought out a lovely tray of amuse Bouche followed not too long after by our first courses. It was another 40 minutes before we were served our main courses, though the bread server hovered over us to refill our bread plates instantly. Needless to say we were not interested in dessert. Overall the attitude and uneven service truly colored our opinion of the food, and we do not consider that it was worth all of the waiting."

  • "Obviously, Frasca is a great restaurant. But we had 7 people and our bill was $1,000. If you got the cash, go for it. But for me, it broke the bank!"

  • "My friend, who lives in Aurora, has been wanting to go to Frasca for years. Since it was her birthday, reservations were made for her, her husband and myself. At the last minute, her husband couldn't make it so their teenage daughter took his place. My friend couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate her birthday and for her teenage daughter, it was a wonderful place to experience her first experience at fine dining. A special birthday cake was made by the chef and it was wonderfully decorated and presented. We can see why this restaurant gets fabulous reviews all the time."

  • "This was our first time at Frasca. We are from out of town and have heard that Frasca was the place to try. It did not disappoint. The service was excellent and the food was interesting and delicious. We had the chef pair some wines for our meal and they were wonderful."

  • "Went there last night with my husband and mother in law. We opted for the $78 4 course meal which was amazing as usual. The portion size are perfect for a 4 course meal... The wait staff were exceptionally attentive without being in your face, bread was replenished as soon as the plate was empty, water glasses were refilled and wine glasses topped up. The Alaskan Hailbut antipasti was fabulous, the eggplant primi was a hit with everyone, my mother in law is still talking about the soft shell crab secondi rounded out by incredible desserts. the evening was topped off incredibly for my mother in law when our server presented her with some chocolates for her plane trip home this week - what an excellent touch :)"

  • "I love Frasca and go there every time I'm in Boulder. Food is always great. This time, however, the service was awful. We sat, waited for menus, ordered drinks, waited 25 minutes for them, had to ask for bread, ordered our meal and waited over fifty minutes for any food to appear. When the food did show up, it was fast and furious -- four courses in less than one hour after having waited nearly an hour for anything. Waiter did nothing to indicate he had any idea how long we'd been waiting until he presented the bill ($300+ for our party of three) and said that he had deducted three drinks (the first and only round - no time for more) since we had to wait so long for everything. No explanation, no apology, no nothing. Disappointing."

  • "Most of the food was fabulous. The price is obnoxiously expensive especially given that the chef is quite rigid about everyone at the table needing to order from the same pris fixe menu and that the ambiance doesn't match the price of the dining experience. It was too loud to hear the conversation from across the table or the wait person describe the menu; and the wait staff walks so quickly through the restaurant it made us all feel a little anxious. For these reasons I would not recommend Frasca to friends. This is a pity because I appreciate their dedication and expertise."

  • "We were celebrating a birthday, just the two of us. It was a true food adventure. Almost perfect in food, service, and ambiance. Small error - the menu mis-described one of the desserts we had. It was a bit disappointing, and they apologized when I asked about it. There was a nice Happy Birthday leaf on my partner's dessert, though I would have also liked a candle. I would go back for a special occasion - pricey, but worth it for a foodie. "

  • "My husband and I were visiting Denver and took our niece and nephew here to celebrate their wedding anniversary. We could not have chosen a better spot, it was simply superb! We went for the tasting menu, with an added portion of the outstanding San Daniele prosciutto to start, and enjoyed every marvelous bite along with the expertly chosen wine pairing. We're used to eating excellent Italian food in Italy and NYC and Frasca ranks very favorably among our favorites. Service was professional and personable and the room is attractive in a modern understated style. Perhaps by local standards it is considered high priced, but it is a tremendous value for the quality and less costly than a trip to Italy."

  • "If you want a fantastic dining experience Frasca is for you. The attention to detail regarding service, wine pairings and food combinations is in a league of their own. The combination of white table service while making you feel like family made our meal special."

  • "Our dinner at Frasca could not have been better!! All the hype is right on. Each item we ordered was perfection. We ordered a wine flight with our 4 course dinner and each wine was perfectly paired--they enhanced the food and it was great to try some new wines that were unfamiliar to us. I would not hesitate--a truly perfect experience. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "You will pay $300+ for dinner for two. That's fine if it's a mind-blowing experience. This wasn't at any level. The food was good - on par w several other places in Boulder. The lamb dish was probably my favorite. The service was good, but uncoordinated so you got asked the same questions and given the same spiel multiple times from different people. It ended up feeling overbearing to the point you couldn't just relax and enjoy your dinner. Nothing was wow. If they were half the price I might recommend going to Frasca occasionally, but they still would not be my favorite in Boulder. At the price they charge I would never go back. There is better food elsewhere. "

  • "Food is delicious and fresh and they have a great wine list. That said, the prices match the unusual dishes and good wines. Great place for a special occasion or occasionally. I had the smoked salmon app, the mushroom pasta, the soft shell crab and a delicious chocolate dessert. This was a four course meal for $78. or you can order ala carte as my husband did. The service was over the top and after the meal it was raining so hard, they actually gave us an umbrella to get back to our car. Very nice people - almost smothered you with the constant service, but it was first class. We try to go here whenever we are in Boulder - usually a couple times a year."

  • "I recently was seated next to a guy on a plane and he suggested this place. He thought it was the "best in Boulder". After eating there this week I would have to agree. I do believe I would go a step further and say it is the best I have had in years and I live in the San Francisco bay area! You just have to do it and I would suggest the tasting and wine pairings!"

  • "Our kids gave us a gift card and as it has been some time since I visited northern Italy I was intrigued by all the talk about this restaurant. My husband and I enjoyed the personable attentions of the young manager...owner?...and he was a delight. The presentation of our food, the quality of the dishes and the level of service were exemplary. What else can I say? Oh. Our kids are foodies and have eaten foods worldwide, so I will write them a "thank you" for giving us a truly excellent evening. Bernadette and Richard Zajac, CO Springs CO "

  • "Our experience was less than we had hoped. We did not order the 6 course special and this seemed to be the downfall. While other diners were served promptly (having ordered the special), we seemed to have been forgotten between courses and waited more than 30 minutes for pasta. To their credit, the wait staff and managers acknowledged the wait; but it still was a mediocre experience. The food had a few bright spots, but was generally uninspired that night. We sautee spinach better than Frasca for an everyday dinner. Our impression was that Frasca was riding on their reputation more than actual product. Unfortunate, but true."

  • "4 of us celebrated an April Valentines day. Reservations wer made via Open Table and the next morning they called me to confirm the reservations live and ask if we were celebrating. The menu fresth, simple, & tempting. We had 4 courses to choose items from including desert. The simplicity allowed us to choose quickly and focus on our converastion. They had a very nice wine list and made recomendations from northern Italy. The portions seemed alarmingly small but once you understood they were bringing a steady stream of food it was ok. THE FOOD WAS AWESOME. Every employee on the floor stopped to wish us happy Valentines and we ended the night with a complimentary plate of chocolate meringue. This place stood out for its service ++++"

  • "Big nite out, and excited because they have GF pasta and bread. Alas, bread dry and tasteless as sawdust. Pasta so oversalted it made me ill. Waiter had pasta checked and said water had been oversalted! Really? Took so long to get primi piatti (pasta) I passed on getting another serving made. No reduction in bill was made (pasta coures = $20). Instead we received 2 vin santes which were not great. Giving us the wine, and making an adjustment in our bill, would have been appropriate. Was ill all nite, suspect liver pate or pasta to blame. Conclusion: pass on a trip to Frasca! Definitely not a $250 dining experience."

  • "entering the restaurant one already feels welcome and warmth is obvious from the first minute. Then the service, quiet and efficient and caring, every detail executed well and without any noise or fanfare. The food itself outstanding with delicate combinations that generate sophistication and simplicity. Any diner has to feel that their presence is treated as a special event and their choice of dining is important to the success of the restaurant by the owners and staff. On leaving the restaurant, we had the feeling that we gained a new family and it is almost impossible not to plan the next visit and meal at Frasca."
