  • "Best food and service...always enjoy dining there... Staff is very accommodating. Just a great place to go for a consistently good meal."

  • "We celebrated the 40th anniversary of the comic strip, "Tank McNamara", at Frank's. Everyone loved their dishes. Half of the guests chose the Chicken Fried Steak. The Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer was a winner. The wine was delicious. Service was flawless as always. A wonderful evening."

  • "We went here during Houston Restaurant Weeks for my husband's birthday. The food was absolutely delicious! The wine list was great! We had a wonderful New Zealand Pinot Grigio. Our server was an absolute joy! He made the experience even better. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!"

  • "I went here for restaurant week and was incredibly disappointed with the portion size, I thought the purpose of Restaurant Week was to get exposure for the restaurant at a little above cost and to help the food shelter (5$ donation). All in I paid 35$ plus tax and tip for a meal that should have cost about 25$ max (accounting for nice ambiance). So in essence I donated 5$ to the food bank and 5$ to Franks, all the food tasted good but I feel that they are missing the point of Restaurant week. I would not have minded paying 35$ if I got a bit more presentation/portion size on the appetizer and dessert (the cheapest part of the meal), if this is how they do restaurant week I don't think that I will try them for regular dining."

  • "okra and tomatoes, salmon, and drum (HRW item) were very tasty. Pleasantly surprised at the flavor of seafood gumbo. Server was very accommodating and prompt."

  • "Great wine list, delicious food, love the booths. Never had a bad meal there."

  • "We had a great dinner during Houston Restaurant Weeks 2014. The food was delicious and serve at the right temperature. Too many times, I've been presented with an entree that was room temp at best or dried out because it sat too long under the salamander. Perfectly seasoned chicken fried steak and gravy, garlicky green beans and mashed potatoes. The brownie was amazingly good...warm and fudge like, topped with vanilla ice cream. The cocktails were fierce and hell, even the coffee rocked. Mike Shine produces great food. The service was ok but not very inviting. How many diners believe they received subpar customer service because they chose the HRW menu over the full menu? I'd like to see that survey..."

  • "I'd been wanting to try this for a while, so I was glad to see them on the Restaurant Weeks listing. The service was outstanding, and the food was great. We will definitely go back."

  • "Overall, the experience was great! The ambience of the restaurant is comfortable and relaxing, with all tables being respectful of their noise level. I really liked that there was a good mixture of young and old, married, families and the ladies night out eating at the restaurant! Our server (sorry, I can not recall his name) was incredibly attentive and anytime you asked him his thoughts about this or that, he was honest and truly genuine with his response! We had a couple questions regarding wines and the in-house wine connoisseur was helpful (and extremely cute I might add) in letting us try a few white wines before settling on the perfect bottle! In the end, the timing of each of our courses was perfect and the experience was great!"

  • "Outside of my club, this is the best place to hang out for some good, upscale comfort food and a surprising good value in wines (look for the Texas ones). Our waiter was friendly and fun."

  • "We have been supporters of "Houston Weeks" for several years now and we had eaten at this restaurant three years ago when it was Frank's Chop House. We had thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience then and were not disappointed now. Previously, the pork chop I had there was one of the best I'd ever eaten. The restaurant was pleasant and we were promptly seated despite being early for our reservation. Our waiter was very amicable and prompt with his service. Three of us ordered the pork chop and one the chicken fried steak. The chops were out of this world and the steak very tasty. Our guests also could not be more complementary about the food and service. The coconut key lime cheesecake made a great finish to a great meal."

  • "Admittedly, we love Southern cooking, and Frank's Americana Revival is just tops at it! Whether it's fried green tomatoes topped with shrimp and remoulade sauce as an appetizer, or chicken-fried steak with cream gravy or red snapper topped with crab meat and creole okra and tomatoes, it's just hard to find a dish here that isn't delicious! The wine list has been drastically overhauled, and is very respectable (at moderate prices) now. There are lots more goodies here, too--we just stick to our favorites."

  • "We came here for dinner to celebrate my husband and my mom's birthdays and had a party of 6. We ordered appetizers to begin and were immediately pleased. Everyone ordered something different, from the meatloaf, to the chicken fried steak, ribeye, fried chicken etc. and EVERYONE'S meal was terrific!! We then decided to each try a different dessert and again ALL of our desserts were amazing! My brother and I shared the sticky toffee pudding and it was so good I would come back just for that! The service was wonderful to add to our great meal. This is a restaurant that we will definitely be coming back to!"

  • "Classic americana food like fried chicken friday specials, yet served with high-end restaurant ambiance & quality. Overall, great place for lunch. I had the seafood gumbo and April salad. Both were great. Only complaint, that it was a little loud at peak lunch hour to hold a 1 on 1 conversation."

  • "Frank's is the perfect place to take a group of clients or friends. The noise level is low and the menu has a variety of excellent food. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs, but was not overbearing. The people in our group could not stop raving about the food! Overall it was a great dining experience!"

  • "We decided to have a birthday dinner rather last minute at Franks American Revival. We started early at 5 for happy hour in the bar (with some great sliders, waffle and blue cheese chips and okra). Stayed for about an hour and then moved to dinner. It wasn't too crowded so our group could easily visit while having a drink or two at the bar. Dinner was also wonderful. Across the table we had steaks, several salads, veggies and a couple of shared desserts. All in all a wonderful experience that we will look to repeat some day! Thanks Franks!"

  • "We had dinner last Sunday with another couple, and Franks was a very pleasant surprise! Our meatloaf was delicious and served with bacon-tomato jam. My husband and I shared this and a stacked Caeser salad. The salad presentation was lovely. Our friends shared Grillades and Grits as well as a chopped salad. The food was very good and very plentiful. Sunday night was also half priced bottles of wine. There are so few restaurants that are quiet enough for customers to carry on conversations, but Frank's Revival has revived the lost "art of conversing". We will definitely return for dinner soon."

  • ""Special" gumbo had an attractive, dark appearance, suggesting a flavorful experience. What a disappointment to taste a broth hardly different from tepid water. Entry was similarly bland. The cooking needs to be revived."

  • "I really enjoyed Franks - it's quiet, and the services was excellent. The steak was excellent and perfectly cooked. The salad was good, but a bit difficult to eat. The price was reasonable. I like risotto, but there was a lot of it. That's a huge carb charge - I might have preferred a lightly cooked vegetable, like spinach, green beans, or beets and cut the risotto by 2/3."

  • "Had dinner at Franks with several friends after hearing about it for some time. It was not a dissappointment ! Food and service were both great and the atmosphere was just right to talk and catch up. After a few drinks at the inviting and entertaining bar, we had dinner with three electing fish dishes, one ribeye steak and and one meatloaf special. All were well prepared and delicious. Service staff was great. We will be back."

  • "We had Father's Day dinner here, I myself have been here about 7 other times and know certain things I love to eat. My favorite being the grilled pimento cheese sandwich with bacon, it's just delicious. With that being said, it's not a part of the dinner menu. I asked if they could make me one and of course they obliged me. The service was great, they working in groups helping out the table yet they were not too attentive as to pester us. I'm not a wine drinker, but the party I was with enjoyed the wine list no less. Frank's is a great, quiet, delicious place close to home."

  • "I wanted to take my husband somewhere different for Father's Day and I selected this as the menu offers a variety of food, drinks and desserts. The service was great and the food was superb. We would definitely recommend Frank's and look forward to our next visit."

  • "Frank's offers quality food at reasonable prices. The portions are quite large, so I would recommend that you share entree's unless you are really hungry. The crab cake and oyster salad starters are excellent. The rack of lamb, a special cut that night was cooked to perfection and the maple syrup brined pork chop was outstanding. Loved having the Manager come by and check on our food and service. Shows a real hands on style which I appreciate."

  • "Came here for a business lunch with my financial advisor and a friend. The white bean cannelloni soup was excellent-tasty and healthy-no cream which we loved! The avocado, tomato, and crabmeat salad was good but a little too much avocado-it would have been better if more lettuce and a half of an avocado which makes it a healthy choice for lunch! We still enjoyed it because there were generous amounts of lump cold crab meat!"

  • "Celebrated a birthday with three generations of us and were very satisfied with the birthday boy's choice. Starters included the fried green tomatoes topped with shrimp remoulade, french onion soup and a very good arugula/spinach salad dressed in a bacon vinaigrette with pieces of sweet potatoes and walnuts sprinkled throughout. Entrees ranged from the drum to a burger, to salmon, to filet to the best of the evening--the maple brined double pork chop. Juicy and absolutely delicious. At least half the desserts are available in half-sized portions, which most of us needed at the end of a great meal. The wine list has enough variety and price points to please almost any crowd."
