Frank's is a classic neighborhood restaurant, with big city appeal. With a recognized reputation for memorabe food and great service, the "Americana Revival menu features locally sourced fruits and vegetables, along with fresh Gulf seafood, Try the chicken fried steak! It has been highlighted by multiple food critics as "the best" in the State of Texas. The highly acclaimed Fried Chicken and Maple Brined Pork Chop are just as good.

The steaks are all Certified Angus and come with generous sides on the same plate, and the salads are almost legendary.

Frank's is a place where you can meet your friends in the bar, dine there, or experience the full menu in the dining room.

Diner Reviews
  • "We decided to have a birthday dinner rather last minute at Franks American Revival. We started early at 5 for happy hour in the bar (with some great sliders, waffle and blue cheese chips and okra). Stayed for about an hour and then moved to dinner. It wasn't too crowded so our group could easily visit while having a drink or two at the bar. Dinner was also wonderful. Across the table we had steaks, several salads, veggies and a couple of shared desserts. All in all a wonderful experience that we will look to repeat some day! Thanks Franks!"

  • "We had dinner last Sunday with another couple, and Franks was a very pleasant surprise! Our meatloaf was delicious and served with bacon-tomato jam. My husband and I shared this and a stacked Caeser salad. The salad presentation was lovely. Our friends shared Grillades and Grits as well as a chopped salad. The food was very good and very plentiful. Sunday night was also half priced bottles of wine. There are so few restaurants that are quiet enough for customers to carry on conversations, but Frank's Revival has revived the lost "art of conversing". We will definitely return for dinner soon."

  • "We love to go to Frank's for a late dinner on date night. It's not too loud and it just feels like a cozy, neighborhood place. There's kind of a throwback vibe to Frank's that makes us feel at home. The food is excellent and there are always interesting specials. Give me a martini and a steak and a booth with my husband and I'm a happy girl."

  • "At Franks they provide unusually good food and service. The Chef will make adjustments to suit special dietary requirements."

  • ""Special" gumbo had an attractive, dark appearance, suggesting a flavorful experience. What a disappointment to taste a broth hardly different from tepid water. Entry was similarly bland. The cooking needs to be revived."

  • "I really enjoyed Franks - it's quiet, and the services was excellent. The steak was excellent and perfectly cooked. The salad was good, but a bit difficult to eat. The price was reasonable. I like risotto, but there was a lot of it. That's a huge carb charge - I might have preferred a lightly cooked vegetable, like spinach, green beans, or beets and cut the risotto by 2/3."

  • "Had dinner at Franks with several friends after hearing about it for some time. It was not a dissappointment ! Food and service were both great and the atmosphere was just right to talk and catch up. After a few drinks at the inviting and entertaining bar, we had dinner with three electing fish dishes, one ribeye steak and and one meatloaf special. All were well prepared and delicious. Service staff was great. We will be back."

  • "Filled with a bunch of old people. Place was cleared out by 8:30 on a Saturday night. Food was good not great, would have rather spent my $135 at a more lively place with better food."

  • "I wanted to take my husband somewhere different for Father's Day and I selected this as the menu offers a variety of food, drinks and desserts. The service was great and the food was superb. We would definitely recommend Frank's and look forward to our next visit."

  • "We had Father's Day dinner here, I myself have been here about 7 other times and know certain things I love to eat. My favorite being the grilled pimento cheese sandwich with bacon, it's just delicious. With that being said, it's not a part of the dinner menu. I asked if they could make me one and of course they obliged me. The service was great, they working in groups helping out the table yet they were not too attentive as to pester us. I'm not a wine drinker, but the party I was with enjoyed the wine list no less. Frank's is a great, quiet, delicious place close to home."

  • "Frank's offers quality food at reasonable prices. The portions are quite large, so I would recommend that you share entree's unless you are really hungry. The crab cake and oyster salad starters are excellent. The rack of lamb, a special cut that night was cooked to perfection and the maple syrup brined pork chop was outstanding. Loved having the Manager come by and check on our food and service. Shows a real hands on style which I appreciate."

  • "Came here for a business lunch with my financial advisor and a friend. The white bean cannelloni soup was excellent-tasty and healthy-no cream which we loved! The avocado, tomato, and crabmeat salad was good but a little too much avocado-it would have been better if more lettuce and a half of an avocado which makes it a healthy choice for lunch! We still enjoyed it because there were generous amounts of lump cold crab meat!"

  • "Celebrated a birthday with three generations of us and were very satisfied with the birthday boy's choice. Starters included the fried green tomatoes topped with shrimp remoulade, french onion soup and a very good arugula/spinach salad dressed in a bacon vinaigrette with pieces of sweet potatoes and walnuts sprinkled throughout. Entrees ranged from the drum to a burger, to salmon, to filet to the best of the evening--the maple brined double pork chop. Juicy and absolutely delicious. At least half the desserts are available in half-sized portions, which most of us needed at the end of a great meal. The wine list has enough variety and price points to please almost any crowd."

  • "We have been to Frank's Americana Revival twice now, both times the food has been wonderful. The waiters are excellent, they want to make sure that your evening is very enjoyable. My husband has had the pork chop and this time the Salmon, he said both were excellent. I have had the Grillades and Grits both times, I just can't bring myself to try anything else on the menu because the Grillades and Grits are the best ever. "

  • "We have been to Franks a couple of times with friends and will continue to go. The food is good. The service is friendly and prompt. There is ambient noise so our conversation is private and quiet enough so that it is easy to hear each other. THe location is great and parking is easy."

  • "The menu offers great selections of what I would call elegant comfort food: short ribs (or shrimp) with grits, fried green tomatoes, meat loaf. Great gumbo. Reasonable wine list. Staff is attentive. "

  • "Having never been to this place before I was a little hesitant, as I am with most first time visits to new restaurants. The atmosphere was quaint, and the service was excellent. When my food arrived (very quickly) I was treated to large portions and great food. The buttermilk chicken was fantastic, and the accompanying green beans were cooked to perfection. Great time, great meal, thank you I will be back..... "

  • "We started with the spare ribs for an appetizer and they were wonderful! My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak and I had the short ribs over the jalapeno cheese grits. His was ok but I loved mine! The grits were nice and creamy and cheesy! We also had a side of their fried okra. If you like fried okra even a little you MUST try theirs! We both agreed it was the best we've ever had! They make a sauce that tastes like a heavenly mixture of soy and a tiny kick. "

  • "My boyfriend and I came back to Frank's to celebrate me getting a new job. This was our second time at Frank's. The first time we came with two other people to celebrate his birthday. We love the food here! I think it is a perfect place to celebrate any occasion. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and attentive, the chef is a genius! What other reasons do you need to visit? I believe Frank's is a hidden gem among the many restaurants in Houston. So thank you OpenTable for this recommendation last year. "

  • "Really enjoyed our dinner. Love the comfort food. Had the fried chicken and it was perfect. My hisband had the pork chop and he cleaned his plate. For the appetizer we ordered the smoked salmon. Delicious! Split a half order of the cobbler for dessert. Nice way to end the meal. "

  • "I knew Frank's Americana Revival scores high for others. I thought the food was "good enough," and did not sense "culinary soul." Grillades & Grits: Described as short ribs. I had ONE. 3/4 meat, 1/4 fat. Sadly, best thing on my plate was the jus - rich, beefy, well-seasoned, imparted the only flavor in the dish. Jalapeno cheese grits: gelatinous, barely discernable jalapeno and cheese. Balsamic-roasted carrots: hint o' balsamic. Pearl onions: Two, and too minuscule to spread flavor. Pan roasted chicken: My partner described as "good." Wine list: Outstanding selection, market prices. Ambience? Dark woods, nice upholstery, etc. A ton of tables/booths crammed in one, big, undivided box. No privacy and, definitely, no 'romantic' corners."

  • "Frank's was a recommendation. Food was delicious, ambiance was really nice, cozy, the inside is beautiful, lots of dark wood decor, the bar is really nice. Our service was great - our server was very enthusiastic. We ordered pork chops, shrimp & grits, and the sticky toffee dessert - all rich & delicious! Drinks were wine, the Hummingbird (ok, just some liquer & seltzer), & the Indian Scout (yum!)."

  • "We arrived at 7 and were all geared up for the Monday special of liver and onions........the waiter was in over his head as they "had not expected so many people" and did not have enough help plus...oh yes, no more liver and onions!. I had the fried oyster salad and the oysters were inedible. I didn't know that you could do that to an oyster.....whatever it was that they had done! Altogether not the best experience dining there we have ever had. Perhaps they should also not tell the guests they hadn't counted on so many patrons showing up!"

  • "Just good food and good service. What they serve they do right. When really crowded service will slow, but not it OK to wait. Ribeye steak done excellently. Short Ribs and grits are the best. Chicken Fried steak best in the city."

  • "Our first opportunity to dine at Frank's. Had read and heard multiple positive reviews. Extremely hospitable staff from hostess to waiter and dining room assistants. The owner/manager came by our table, introduced himself, welcomed us and invited us back. They also have 1/2 priced bottles of wine on Sundays! Pasta with braised beef and pork was very rich in flavor. Salads were excellent, and they house smoke beef that was added to a salad. Local restaurant with comfortable middle of the road pricing. Very warm decor. On a Saturday evening appeared to be mostly an older local crowd. Looking forward to going back, especially on a Sunday for the wine."

  • "I had enjoyed several quiet and agreeable lunches at Franks. Then hosted an evening group of six, all of whom were upset that the noise level made conversation nearly impossible. A disappointment."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for our 4 year anniversary and I was beyond pleased. The waiter was super humble and I have never been to a restaurant where the owners greeted us to make sure if we had a wonderful experience (which I did). I recommend the pork chops and wine selections. Everything was amazing and it will not be my last time going!"
