Diner Reviews
  • "Great place after a long day of shopping. Wait Staff was responsive and professional, food was very good and everyone enjoyed their selection, from Pasta to Pizza to Seafood. Seating was comfortable and tables appropriately spaced. The decor was OK, not sure about the white plates with black writing on the walls. Better than just a mall restaurant."

  • "We received an email advertising promotion. Upon arrival at the restaurant, it applied to only a few items on the menu."

  • "The brick oven lemon pancake and crisp bacon were just enough tart, sweet, and smokey to delight my palate. Frankie's is a great brunch alternative on weekends."

  • "Service was lousy. Standing water on floor. Waiters made a lot of noise bussing tables."

  • "I was in town and looking for an Italian restaurant on a Friday night. I reviewed Yelp for some options and because it was so last minute, not many of the options had vacancy. Frankie's was highly rated, like many others and seemed to be in a good spot right on N. Michigan; a short walk from where I was staying downtown. It turned out to be a mall, with Frankie's on the 5th floor; not exactly the ambiance I was looking for on nice summer night in downtown Chicago. It's mostly my fault for not reading more into it and figuring this out before making reservations. My group liked the food pretty well but the waiter didn't speak very good English. Made it difficult to understand some of the menu questions. In all a good place if you're shopping"

  • "Frankie's is a favorite and by the looks of it, it is becoming many people's favorite. I have taken to making a reservation just to make sure we get a table. Had the eggplant my last visit and it was fabulous!"

  • "Always dependable. $10 bottle of wine on Tuesdays. Wait staff very friendly and knowledgeable."

  • "A great go-to spot that is great because you can eat "outside" in the 5th floor lobby area set up with awnings and table or inside in a more intimate atmosphere. It you like a quiet spot to get away from a hectic day or bustling shopping trip, this is a great hideaway, quite where you can listen to friends talk and share a great meal. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner here! This is our neighborhood gem with reasonable prices and good Italian food (generous portions, too!) but tourists will enjoy this get away to have a moment of down time. This restaurant is part of the Lettuce Entertain You group, so bring your card with you and accumulate points while you enjoy your meal!!"

  • "Frankie's is well known in the neighborhood and should not be missed by anyone shopping nearby, either lunch or dinner. Considering the menu their wine list might be on the expensive side but the food choices make up for that."

  • "Every time I come here i go away happy. Excellent place."

  • "We eat here often so we will probably go back but this time wasn't so good. Our waiter was indifferent. After I ordered the whitefish, he came back to say they were out of it. I ordered a pasta with lobster ($25) and there were 4 small pieces of lobster in it. I should have sent it back but didn't. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said that's what it is. When we left, I talked to Alan, who is wonderful, the host and he said he would talk to the manager about it. So this time our meal wasn't as good as usual."

  • "We had an excellent pizza and salad for lunch. The restaurant was not crowded so it was quiet and the service was excellent."

  • "We had dinner on a Monday evening. Noise level was fine. I had a caprese salad appetizer and salmon entree; he had the anti-pasta plate & spaghetti w/meatballs. The caprese salad was weird-no balsamic vinegar or basil. Tomatoes were very good, though. Salmon was well-prepared, but nothing special. My date found his entree acceptable, not great. Wine list not good. I was not much interested in the desserts. So skipped that, too. Waiter was good, attentive, not predatory. Not one of the better Lettuce installments. I'll return to try the pizza. Overall, not impressed, though. Osteria Via Stato is a far better choice. I still miss Scoozi."

  • "Frankie's is always a good, reliable place for good food and pleasant service. And they validate parking tickets for a $5 charge in the building garage if you arrive after five p.m."

  • "As usual the food was reliable and good. Service was fine albeit not as good as usual. We would return as we know days are as different as nights are long"

  • "Ordered red wine got white, food was just passable, servers seem to be in a hurry to get it over with, Pizza was not cooked enuf, a bottle of cheese was broken and just barely cleaned up"

  • "Usually we have very good meals at Frankie's but they were off this time. We brought friends--so there were 6 of us. Very long wait for drinks and food and the food was not up to their usual standards. Short staffed? Too many tables still dining when we arrived? We will go again, but probably not for a larger group dinner. Any restaurant can have an off night--hope this is just such a rare event."

  • "I called ahead because I saw reviews noting an outdoor eating area - whoever answered the phone confirmed that they had outdoor seating. In reality the outdoor area is simply tables in the common area of a shopping mall. Deceitful."

  • "Enjoyed our dining experience very much. Frankie's is a hidden gem"
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "Good food reasonably priced. The portions are large enough so that you can bring something home for the next day."
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "Frankie's is hidden on Michigan Avenue in the sleepy Bloomingdales building. It is my go to for last minute dinner plans. The food is solid and I haven't had to wait forever for a table. The deep dish cookie used to be phenomenal, but was a bit dry this past time, which was disappointing. They also got rid of my dumplings, but the gnocchi was a good replacement. The pizza was smaller and the crust was dry. Service was a bit slow/inattentive this time, but has been good in the past. Maybe it was an off night, so I'll give it another chance. Overall, it's a good spot for a shopping break."

  • "My wine took about 15 min. to come. Son's pizza arrived 10 minutes before the rest of our food. He was almost done eating when we finally got our food. My husband discretely told the host & the waiter that it was my birthday. When we finished eating, the waiter asked if we wanted desert. We ordered one. The waiter dropped it off quickly without a candle. When my husband finally got the waiters attention, he acknowledged knowingly, disappeared, and then brought the check. He was told again it was my birthday. Instead of saying he had forgotten, and asking if we would want another complimentary dessert with a candle, or just comp the dessert we already had, he left quickly & brought tiramisu with a candle. we were already full. "

  • "Don't know what's going on but had another bad experience here. 1. Reservation wasn't ready at 7. 2. My pasta entree did not come until my son already finished his meal so I ended up not eating my meal and had it packed to go. What's going on Frankie?"

  • "We shared the pecan pancake and an omelet, with lots of good hot coffee. No problem with requests to have accompaniments on the side. Lovely Brunch, quiet enough for us to have a decent conversation."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "We so much enjoyed our dinner. Two of us Chicken Limone which was so very good, the other had salmon which he said was delicious. We so enjoy dining at Frankie's and hope to dine there again in the near future."

  • "Not as fulfilling a dinner as previous visits. Obviously the chef cares a great deal about the food. I saw him personally delivering dishes to other tables. Ours was less than stellar, not what I expected. I ordered the "lemon brick chicken" and my friend ordered the "chicken limone." Mine was barely completely done. Meaning I had to check the pieces I cut repeatedly to make sure they was completely cooked. Not much seasoning and not that different from my friend's entree, except his came with spinach and mushrooms on top, and mine with asparagus on the side. I didn't complain because what was I going to complain about--that it wasn't at all what I was expecting? "

  • "Had a reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. Had to ask for the check 3 times as we gad somewhere to be at 9. Gnocchi was delicious. Pizza good too. "

  • "The service was poor, the food was cold and overall not a good expereince. Very surprising because Letusentertain is an awesome group and I have never been dissapointed until now. Sorry but this one is one that I will not go back to. "
