Diner Reviews
  • "If you want authentic, amazing Italian food in the heart of downtown, Frankie's is perfect. Everything we had was spectacular, and service was attentive and helpful. I've had many of the same dishes in Italy and can vouch for Frankie's authenticity and top quality. Highly recommend the generous and perfectly dressed chopped and Italian salads, incredibly tender calamari with marinara, and the BEST spaghetti and meatballs. We also loved the gnocchi and fra diavalo. Chicken martini with artichokes is also very good. For dessert we had tiramisu and gelato - recommend the caramel, it's unbelievably good. We plan to have our wedding reception here this summer and can NOT wait!"

  • "We were seated in the grotto. Our waiter was excellent.( Sorry I don't remember his name.) Everyone loved their food. I had the special Brick Chicken Marsala Style. Her tiramisu for her birthday dessert was great. The restaurant is in a mall, but once you're inside you forget that. Great time. Next time will try the pizzeria."

  • "We chose Frankies because it was convenient for parking and a show nearby, and because we trust Lettuce Entertain You restaurants. It did not disappoint us. We had a very enjoyable and delicious dinner in a quietly romantic booth, with a great server and perfect ambiance. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Been here twice and every time the food as been great. The Rita D pizza is one of my favorites. The spaghetti carbonara was outstanding. The only downside is a very limited beer menu."

  • "Waiter with attitude, as if doing us a favor!! Wine delivery took at least 10 minutes with no explanation or apology for delay. Check was incorrect; waiter virtually dismissed issues....we will likely have to challenge credit cards when arrive to correct his error! We live in the neighborhood and are regulars. Management team knows us well. This should never have happened. P.S. The restaurant was NOT filled to capacity!"

  • "You'll love the food and the service. I had the best Caprese Salad of my life there. Every time we go to Frankie's we are very happy because you get your money's worth and with quality food and service."

  • "This poor restaurant that is tucked away in the most abandoned shopping destination off of Michigan Avenue has some bright spots, but it is overshadowed by the mall-like feel and the patio is literally in an atrium of the mall. The food was so-so, and I doubt I will try this place again when there is Osteria and Pizzeria Via Stato a stones-throw away in River North. Worse LEYE restaurant my wife and I have been to by far..."

  • "This place was great. We tried two of the pizzas which were fantastic and had three of the cocktails which were all pretty good. Use of the local Hum liquor was really cool and appreciated as a bartender from the Boston area. Definitely would like to come back here next time im in the area and check out the rest of the menu. It's on the fifth floor of the mall but is unexpected after looking at the menu but who cares, still awesome."

  • "The server (only our server) just left something to be desired on many levels. The gentleman who greeted us was exceptionally nice and gracious. Our server? She truly acted like "she could care less" that we were there or if we were satisfied with the food or not. When I complimented the salad (which was way better than the pizza, she said "oh well ok good" and shrugged her shoulders. The food was ok/good. That is, just good, not great, not bad. The only reason I put that I wouldn't recommend is because there are so many other fabulous options within a 1 mile radius. But again, not bad just not memorable."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Frankie's Scaloppine's. We had a large group and they were very accommodating. The food was fabulous. We ordered their wood oven pizzas for appetizers, various entrees from chicken and veal limone, chicken martini, lake trout to their daily veal special. Everything tasted outstanding. Our server was very knowlegeable and helpful. I have been to the restaurant before, but it was the first time for many of our friends. They all enjoyed the food and ambience and would definitely return. As for me, I would highly recommend Frankie's Scaloppine's. It is definitely one of my favorites and when I'm in Chicago, it's a MUST for lunch or dinner!"

  • "We live in the neighborhood and have lots of choices as far as dining out. Frankie's is our go-to place. Great variety on the menu, from pasta to pizza to steak. The tomato bisque soup is out of this world. Chicken Milanese is wonderful and the carbonara is one of the best I've had. And save room for dessert,.....the chocolate cake and apple galette are to die for!"

  • "There was nothing good about our experience, the pasta was a gooey mess, awful, the caesar with chicken had just a few pieces of chicken, the place has nothing going for it. If you can get a table outside in the mall, that's a better option than sitting inside. Our champagne was left on the table, not put on ice, no sense of good service."

  • "Took a group of eight for lunch after attending the Chicago auto show. No one else and never been there. The service was excellent. Kevin made everyone feel at home. The food was outstanding. There was a sale on Frankie's house wine and a number of bottles were consumed. Would highly recommend anyone to dine there. Food quality, service, atmosphere, all excellent. A hidden gem!!!"

  • "Knew that food would be good since Frankie's is a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant but didn't think we would like eating on the fifth floor at a vertical shopping mall. Food very well priced, very good and the view from "outdoor" dining porch was great. This is a definitely a place we will visit again."

  • "We stopped in to Frankie's to sample their new brunch offering. We found the food and menu to be outstanding. I had the cinnamon and pecan pancakes, which was a large thin pancake cooked perfectly that was light and fluffy and just the right portion size. And my dining companion tried the Sicilian Omelet and found it to be outstanding (he was ecstatic about the flavors). We will definitely be back again!"

  • "Glad Frankie's is now doing weekend breakfast it is another dining option for the neighborhood. The brick oven pancakes are easily shareable and unique in the area. The homemade sausage is robust Italian flavored. Our 6 year old was entertained with the activity sheet and triangular crayons."

  • "We had been here for pizza once before and we liked it, so we gave it another shot. She got the pizza again - which really is pretty good - I ordered the marsala... it was't the worst I've had, but it was far from the best. Thin, watery sauce, the chicken cutlet had a rubbery texture and the "mashed" potato was more like a liquefied, soupy mess on the plate. The worst part of the evening was the service. We were made to feel like we were putting them out from the moment I said I didn't want a bottle of wine - didn't even ask if I wanted anything else to drink. I don't like being rushed, but waiting 15 minutes for them to take my card to pay is a little ridiculous. It may have just been an off night, but we won't be back."

  • "Even though it is located on the 5th Floor of the 900 MIchigan Avenue Shops it is a neighborhood place for those of us who live in the area. Food is consistently good and service varies. Usually takes a long time to get a drink order but for the most part very goo"

  • "Having eaten here a number of times, we brought grandsons in to see Santa and have supper. Understanding it's Christmas and all, we found our seated right behind reception stand outside the restaurant. There was a party inside. No one had warned us, but we were able to move one table deeper into the outside area. Food and waitstaff were as good as usual, but we wish we were forewarned about the lack of seating inside this dependable restaurant."

  • "Great food but noisy. I think it might have been because of Christmas rush. I took my staff for a Christmas luncheon and hard to hear each other. I might try to go another time. The food was excellent - lots of choices on menu."

  • "My wife and I chose Frankie's because we had been happy with their pizzas for lunch and because our go-to River North trattoria (437 Rush) is closed on Mondays. We had moderate expectations which Frankie's exceeded in every way! My wife started with a delicious minestrone soup and I with a very fresh arugula and fennel salad with thick shavings of grana padano. My wife then moved to the fresh seafood salad, replete with chunks of cold lobster, scallops, and shrimp, over a bed of lettuce tomatoes and fresh asparagus. I had a brick chicken dish smothered in peppers, onions, and peperoncini was positively succulent. Whatever you do, don't hold the mall location (in 900 N Michigan) deter you from checking out Frankie's."

  • "We went here since it is in the 900 N Michigan Ave shopping mall. Really nice not to have to go outside after shopping during the winter. We thought the chalkboard with the daily specials was kind of tacky. Food was just OK, had a pizza, salad, and pasta."
