  • "I bring important customers to Frankie Rowland's often, and the food and service never fail to disappoint."

  • "I went to this restaurant for my wife's birthday. They were training waitresses which was fine but when you are celebrating a special occasion, it kind of ruins your dinner. First, I ordered a 20 oz NY strip steak and wanted it to be butterflied well done and they said that they could not do it. I've traveled all over the world and that was a first! The young trainee would could by and stand there and wait for us to take the last bite of food which was very rude in my opinion. The food was good but I doubt if I would go there again."

  • "This restaurant is absolutely superb! We don't live close by, but anytime we get to Roanoke, this is our restaurant of choice - hands down! It is of average seating capacity, but I feel that permits the waiters/waitresses to devote more time and attention to each table. The food is always outstanding and i have never had a server not be polite and attentive to our table. We hope to have many more meals in Frankie's."

  • "I had NO idea that this restaurant existed until i did a quick google search. What I found was the most incredible steak I have ever eaten! The service was incredible, the food was incredible, the restaurant was very classy! I will never eat steak anywhere else in the Roanoke, Valley! INCREDIBLE!"

  • "Unfortunately one of the steaks that was ordered at our table was the wrong steak. The server brought the incorrect steak. We were disappointed we still ended up paying for it. The waitress was wonderful with a great personality. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the food & the prices were to high compared to the food quality. The steak did not have a seasoning they were bland. Once we asked about the steak the waitress went and spoke with the cook who admitted that he did cut and tag some of the steaks wrong so he got them confused & mixed up."

  • "Hands down, best meal in Roanoke. Great food, vibe, and friendly service. Starting with the delicious bread and butter and ending with the bananas foster dessert, everything was 5-star. The bruschetta appetizer was excellent and came deconstructed with a bowl of hot cheeses, tomatoes & garlic, and balsamic. We split the 14oz fllet, which was melt in your mouth tender. We had a side of cottage fries; which were a nice accompaniment for the filet. Great martinis too according to the mr. So if you have something special to celebrate or are looking for an excellent meal in downtown, this is the place."

  • "Had an amazing dinner! The food and service was awesome. Our waitress was Sarah and she knew the menu well, her recommendations were delicious . Her attention to our needs were outstanding . The pineapple martinis & creme brulee were delicious!! My bill was very $$$$$, but I was expecting that going in, this is a place that you treat yourself to on special occasions. It will be awhile before I can afford to go back, so I can't wait till that time comes!!"

  • "Overall we had a very nice dining experience for my wife's birthday. The steaks were of the highest quality and full of flavor, but my Kansas City Strip was so salty it was hard to get through to the flavor of the beef. Lobster bisque I highly recommend. Side dishes are plentiful, seasoned well and tasty. The service was for the most part outstanding but seemed to wane at the end, my wife's steak sauce never arrived, and there was a 25 minute wait after dessert before getting our check. Overall, though, I found it to be a good experience, not unlike a Ruth's Chris."

  • "Dinner was as always exceptional, this is our go to place for special occasions or when we want the best steak and lobster not only in Roanoke but for hundreds of miles"

  • "We decided to eat here after hearing great things from the locals about their delicious martinis and A+ steaks—we were not disappointed. It’s very pricey, but the experience was definitely worthwhile. The appetizer scallops were amazing and so was the pineapple martini, yum! We split the NY strip as an entrée and sampled the asparagus, spinach and mushrooms. Everything was delicious, but the steak was overcooked—it looked more like midwell than midrare. Seems like a steakhouse would know how to properly cook a steak…? At any rate, the steak was still good. Overall the service was the shining star of the night, very friendly, prompt and attentive—some of the best I’ve had in awhile. We enjoyed ourselves the whole night."

  • "My fiance and I had the best experience here. It was a little pricey, but well worth the money! The cherry cheesecake martini was amazinggg! The food was delicious! We fully intend on going back again. I would recomend this place to people who are looking for a great night out with great drinks and excellent food!"

  • "We had eaten at Frankie Rowland's a couple of years before this visit and chose to dine here again for our first wedding anniversary. It was just as wonderful as it was the first time! My filet was perfect, as were the jumbo shrimp cocktail, asparagus, and potatoes au gratin (oh my!). The wine list was impressive and the service impeccable. AND we scored a complimentary creme brûlée for our special occasion - yum! We highly recommend Frankie Rowland's."

  • "A Wonderful Experience! The food was prepared beautifully, very flavorful. Our Server was totally delightful, On the Ball at all times and very knowledgeable on all menu items. The Check was a might steep for every week, but Frankie can count on seeing us again before too long. Thank you for the experience"

  • "The food is really good. My wife and I have only ate steak there and were pleased each time we dined. We would like to try your seafood, but the steaks are hard to pass up. You had elk on your menu and my wife wanted to try it, but was concerned whether she would like it or not. When you offer something unusual like that, you should consider offering a sample. It may have been really terrific. Great job. Keep it up and kudos to the chef!"

  • "Service was good, wine was delicious... The $50 14 oz filet that we purchased was absolutely wonderful...however, the bread was cold and not very tasty (you would think for the money you could be served warm bread) and the $9.00 baked potato was served fairly cold and tasted as if it was from the day before. We sat in the back room which was more pleasant and quiet compared to the front room and nicely decorated, but a bit chilly, possibly from the snow we had. We felt let down on the quality of the meal after hearing all the "hype" of the restaurant. We don't mind paying for a good meal, but the quality of the food and the experience was lacking...We were let down. Server, wine and steak was the highlight."

  • "Not sure what was going on Valentine's weekend, but not a typical Frankie Rowland's dining experience. We were seated 35 minutes past our reservation, which was not a huge deal. While the bar area was SRO, the dining area had numerous tables that had not even been set up. My wife ordered her steak well done and butterflied, and it came medium rare. My bone-in ribeye had so much salt on it, I couldn't eat it. After the delay, they sent new steaks that were satisfactorily prepared, but for a $200 plus Valentine's dinner, one would think that a manager would have addressed the problems, or at least we would have been offered drinks and or desert. I will give FR one more shot before permanently removing it from my top ten steak places."

  • "We went for valentine's day (actually the day after). We had a 7pm reservation but were informed when we arrived that it would be at least 15 minutes. And it ended up probably being closer to 30. We were seated in the back room, which has the ambiance of a hotel restaurant. Wish we could have eaten in the main room. The food was very good, though we had to wait way too long for our salads to arrive. I assume they tried to squeeze in reservations that had been snowed out the day before. But it definitely made for a less than wonderful dining experience, which is especially unwelcome when you pay close to $200 for your meal. Roanoke has many good, upscale restaurants and we will go to a different one on the next special occasion."

  • "We have eaten at Frankie's several times now for birthdays and our anniversaries. The food and atmosphere has never failed us. We have purchased gift certificates on several occasions for our friends for their special occasions."

  • "Not a place to grab a bite and run but a place to relax in and enjoy. The service and fare of this fine restaurant is top notch. Everything we ordered was prepared and presented beautifully. We enjoyed the rib-eye steaks, creamed spinach, lobster bisque and scallops. The meat was seared and seasoned perfectly. It was cooked to our specifications. The spinach sauce was flavorful but not heavy. The bisque was presented in a unique manner and extremely flavorful albeit a bit on the salty side. The scallops well there is a reason Frankie Rowlands is known for the dish...if you enjoy scallops these are a must. The cost was more than your average Steakhouse...but then this is not your average steakhouse."

  • "This is our 'go to' restaurant when we want excellent food, quiet atmosphere, and great Cosmo or to celebrate a special occasion. The Oysters Rockefeller is amazing. It's a little pricey but we feel it is worth it. We highly recommend it!"

  • "Pricey but worth the money. The service was excellent -- unobtrusive and exceptionally responsive. The food was top notch -- well prepared, excellent quality ingredients, flavorful. I liked that the sides, all a la carte, were served family style to be shared."

  • "Significant noise level. If you care to converse comfortably with your companions, I would suggest a table in the back room. Service was not gracious or customer oriented. At times it was perfunctory. I didn't appreciate server very frequently pouring our wine as if her intent was not attending to our needs but rather to get us to order our next bottle more quickly. Food was well prepared. Prices are significantly above other area restaurants so we did expect a better experience."

  • "We really enjoyed Frankie Rowland's Friday night. It was my husbands 50 th Birthday and he really liked it being just the two of us. We have been there several times with Sales Reps from out of town because we recommend you and everyone has always enjoyed it. It is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. We have several Reps coming in March so we have already made reservations for 8 to 10. I am looking forward to coming there again soon. Thank You."

  • "Greeted by male who left to check on table. We had early reservations. He came back and off again. We let others in front who were seated by female since we thought we were being helped only to note male was now fooling with bar and register. We had to get female who then seated us. Not off to a great start!! Waitress was delightful and service terrific. Food was only average and for price a steak seasoned in more than pepper and butter would be have been better. Can get this at any high end steak house. Creme brule is fabulous. Overall after bad start all ok but really not up to the $150 price and I had no mixed drinks. Probablywould not visit again on ny dime"

  • "My boyfriend and I visited Frankie Rowlands during restaurant week where we could get a three course meal for $30.00. Of course on a normal day at Frankie's you can't even get a steak (without the sides) for this price so we figured this would be a great time for us to try out the restaurant. The appetizers (Crab dip and Oysters Rockefeller) were awesome and our sides (creamed spinach and mashed potatoes), also great. Our steak however, had great flavor, but was kind of chewy and tough to cut. I assume this is not typically the case and the cut of meat we received during this promotion was subpar compared to their average quality steak. Still, from the "nicest" steakhouse and Roanoke, I would expect a great steak no matter the promotion."
