Diner Reviews
  • "Love everything about this place! So glad we were able to make a reservation for our party of 6. Most places on the island don't take reservations in the summer. We had NO WAIT! The food was EXCELLENT!! We will definately return."

  • "We go to Frankie Bones frequently and it is always good food and great service. That is why they are always busy. Make your reservation early!!"

  • "We've been going to HHI for years and somehow never discovered this place until this visit. By far the best meal we ate all week, and the atmosphere was just right. Highly recommend!"

  • "This restaurant needs work on good quality. It's not a comment when the mashed potatoes are better than the New York strip steak. No flavor in the steak. The cannelloni sauce is bland like from a Prego bottle; not what I expected with three meats described to flavor. Perhaps a lesson in preparing a good meat sauce is in order for the kitchen staff. Too bad this restaurant is way out paced and out performed by it's sister and neighbor Wiseguys. Lots of potential for a great place here but kitchen is lagging now."

  • "Go here every summer at the beach and will continue to come back. Very very good."

  • "Our recent visit to Frankie Bones was probably the worst service ever. Our food orders were not taken properly. One person received the wrong soup and another the wrong size pasta. Our son had to wait 10 minutes for his kids steak entree after our 4 other dinners arrived. No attention to details such as asking for drink refills, cheese for pasta and more bread. We will definitely try other restaurants as it seems a shame to pay $140 for a meal and have poor service! Recommend to friends with the disclaimer that the service is poor."

  • "The combination of good food choices and atmosphere makes this restaurant a great choice."

  • "Food was great! Bananas foster cheesecake was delicious! We will definitely go again."

  • "The food was excellent, artfully presented, and our server was extremely helpful in explaining the specials as well as providing excellent general service. We have eaten at Frankie Bones several times when visiting Hilton Head over the past few years and have never been disappointed."

  • "We had a pretty good experience there. Waite staff was attentive - everything came fast - maybe slightly too fast. It was a busy night, but not extremely busy. Two in our party ordered the mahi-mahi special... we were informed after a while that there was only one left. Antipasto appetizers were very good. Food was very good. Nice drink menu."

  • "Outstanding food and service as always! I highly recommend the twice baked potatoe spring rolls and lobster mac n cheese!"

  • "The service was terrific with our waitress making great suggestions and anticipating our needs. The food was excellent with many varieties and types to choose from. Everyone was happy with their choices, from excellent prime rib to Italian favorites. This is a great place for families that want to please everyone."

  • "Superb as always! Best seafood and best service on HHI."

  • "We arrived 10 minutes early and we're scolded because we were early . While we waited, an elderly women with a walker arrived . She was bent in half and shuffling in . The hostess told her she was 15 minutes late and would have to put her party of 6 in a booth the lady explained she was 15 minutes early for a 5 pm seating , that it was a special occasion and her party would not fit in a booth . She was told by the hostess she would have to make do. Since we were only 4 I could not trade with her. I was there with 2 teenagers and had to explain that what the hostess did was wrong . I complained to the manager. This is the second time I observed this level of rudeness in this restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone."

  • "CORNER! That's what I remember most from the dinner. That's because we were seated at the intersection between the bar servers and the major kitchen area. Each time somebody came through they yelled CORNER! So while I'm pretty sure the salmon I had was reasonably good, all I can remember was CORNER! Why not move? The hostess stand was less than helpful. We would have had to go back to the waiting area and wait 15-25 minutes for another table. CORNER! I've had bad tables in restaurants before, just never on this scale. There shouldn't even be a table there - or it should only be offered with full upfront disclosure. That said, our server was very nice and apologetic. Ask before you sit down at Frankie Bones. CORNER!"

  • "This is by far the best restaurant on the island. We come back to it every year. Amazing food and atmosphere....don't miss this one!!"

  • "This was our first time at Frankie Bones. Even though I mixed up the reservation, they seated us immediately. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Unbelievable! It was so good. The pasta and lobster were both cooked to perfection. My husband had a porkchop. It was tender and moist but fully cooked- a tough balance to achieve. Good meal at a new place that we will be back to again- hopefully soon."

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Frankie Bones. Loved the decor, the food was outstanding and the service was top notch. Our only regret was we went late in our week of vacation so we couldn't go twice?"
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "This is one of those everyone should go once type spots; food will, as my husband says, "fill the belly" -portions are generous. Decor is 1940s Sinatra lounge and the dice lollipops are cute idea. Kids n families will enjoy, prices are fair and waitstaff trained to keep tabletops turning without being too obvious. Older couples or foodies might not be as enthralled..."

  • "Second time we've been here. The early bird offering on this occasion was remarkable. Prime rib was perfectly cooked and a very nice portion. Twice baked mashed potato side was rich and tasty. Salad was crisp and the accompanying bread was warm either an herb butter. Atmosphere was old time Chicago type steakhouse. Next time steak is definitely what I'll order. A terrific choice. Tip: be certain to make a reservation."

  • "Food was great, prices reasonable and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Loved the decor! The waitstaff were attentive and overall it was an excellent dining experience."

  • "extensive menu; covers all American tastes; good value; never disappoints; always satisfies. The shrimp scampi, prime rib, tile fish, and Italian entrees all satisfied family palates on this visit. The children's menu was also well-received. The waitress was personable, attentive and responsive. Always plan to return to this family dining standard."

  • "Overall it was a good experience. The hostess did a masterful job of responding to the large amount of people in the lobby due to the inclement weather. The food was excellent, the server was very attentive and pleasant, and while the place was full to capacity, our food arrived quite promptly with just the right amount of time to enjoy the appetizers. I highly recommend the tuna carpaccio and the tilapia almondine. The wine list was good but not great. For a Italian restaurant, I felt there should have been more Italian wines, especially whites which were conspicuously absent. There are some very good yet moderately priced Italian whites that would complement the seafood quite well."

  • "From the moment we arrived the staff was amazing. True southern hospitality. Our waitress katie was very sweet & attentive yet not over bearing. The food most importantly was amazing! Every dish was so delicious. Frank's signature ribeye was the best we've ever had and The lobster mac and cheese was perfection. No complaints or slight disappointments in any dish. They definitely get brownie points for putting up with a grumpy member in our party. Perfect place for a special occasion or just a relaxed week night dinner."

  • "Great and Plentiful Early Bird Special Entrees. 10 entrees at $15 and 10 entrees at $14. This includes choice of two salads or two soups and non-alcoholic beverages. Food quality top notch."

  • "Excellent food. Waiter was terrific and especially accommodating to our little guy"

  • "After they initially wanted to put us in a small cramped room in the back, we opted to eat on the patio. Liver and onions were very good. Great martini. Overall, a nice dinner"

  • "Ate at Frankie Bones while on vacation. Open Table reservation immediately honored and we were seated right away...in the bar !!! Incredibly NOISY...but service and food good...but not great...noise level is ridiculous in the bar area. The meatball appetizer was especially good and the entrees (NY Strip, Petite Filet, Liver & Onions, Sausage Pasta) were good. Service was just a little slow...not bad...just a little."

  • "It is an energetic atmosphere on a Friday night in the summer which we enjoyed. The service was efficient, friendly and fast. Meals were all really good, served in a nice way and expeditiously for a busy night. Definitely would return."

  • "We have eaten here many times and always are pleased. This time we had prime rib, lobster Mac, and a New York strip. Everyone was pleased. The service was great. There's was a large party in our fairly small room that was noisy, but they were finishing and left before our food came. Even our 2 year old grandson liked his cheese ravioli."

  • "I have a family of five. The menu choices satisfied everyone in the family. All the kids ate everything. The service was fast, the waiters were friendly. I couldn't ask for anything better."
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "Great atmosphere. Always a fun stop. Extensive menu for any taste but the bar and great drinks keep us coming back. Food is ok but the atmosphere and the bar make up for it."

  • "Great dining experience. Steaks were cooked perfectly, chicken, perfect and lobster tail priced right."

  • "We were very pleased by the high quality and authenticity of the food we were served. The sausage-stuffed mushrooms were out of this world! We look forward to returning."

  • "Frankie Bones is always a must, when we vacation at Hilton Head. We have introduced FB's to several of our friends, and they all love it. Great food, and a really nice atmosphere."

  • "Tried this place while on vacation with two 12 year olds and two 14 year olds. Everyone was able to find something on their extensive menu that they liked. Loved the fried ravioli appetizer! Will def come back"

  • "I went to Frankie Bones on a friends recommendation and I wasn't disappointed. The only thing I didn't enjoy was my Italian Margarita. It was too strong and tasted like straight alcohol. That may be how it is supposed to taste, it was my first time having one, but for me it was too much. I ordered the chicken marsala with whipped potatoes and it was so good I forgot all about the drinks. The Marsala sauce was one of the best I've ever had and the grilled chicken just enhanced the flavor. The person I was with ordered the chicken Alfredo and it was remarkable as well. The location was great as well as the decor. We will definitely return to Frankie Bones, I only wish we lived closer so we could go more often!"

  • "Food wise, there is nothing good that can be said.Their signature steak (rib eye) was barely edible.Baked oysters were awful.Over cooked and nothing in the shell.Lobster tail was soggy.Ate better at Ruby Tuesdays."
