  • "Not my first time to F&J b/c the food is always good. Basically a NYC steakhouse out in the burbs, but it has more of a town feel, not a stuffy feel, so good for a date, the guys, or the whole family. This time, though, my table was wobbly and couldn't be fixed with a sugar packet b/c it wasn't the footing that was bad--it as the pole. Unacceptable for a steakhouse of this calibre to have wobbly tables! But putting that aside, we were very happy with our meal and the service. I'll go back...but I'll refuse to sit at that table."

  • "The appetizers were wonderful. The steak was disappointing - just very mediocre, and for $96 for two people, it should have been outstanding. It was very noisy even though we were upstairs, because there was a crowd at the bar watching a game. This upscale restaurant should be quiet and relaxing for customers. Service was very slow. When making a reservation, I stated that we (all 4 of us) were celebrating our anniversaries. We thought perhaps complimentary dessert and coffee would be offered. No mention until we redeemed our coats, and were out the door, when the hostess said, "Happy Anniversary to you." There are too many good steak restaurants in the area, so we probably won't be back."

  • "I have gone to most lower Westchester steak houses and Frankie and Johnnie’s is with no contest my favorite. It’s warm, inviting and picturesque. Cocktails are great, steaks are the best, always perfectly cooked and the service has always been exactly as I would have wanted it with many different very pleasant waiters despite dining mostly Saturday night. Although every cut of steak I’ve tried has been at its best, I seem driven to return time and again for that delicious 12 ounce Filet. I eat out a fair amount at what I consider good Westchester and Connecticut restaurants and I would not be going back to Frankie and Johnnies if it was not the equal of the others."

We come here often because the steaks are so good but the Manager, who walks around to introduce himself and say hello to everyone, never remembers us."

The women at the reception desk were courteous and friendly, but the table service folks were brusque and our waiter seemed to bristle when we asked the prices of the specials. It was a holiday week and perhaps no one really wants to be working, but diners shouldn't feel that. I'll say again that the beef was excellent and we'll go back."

  • "Dined here during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week 2013. I thought we were in for a real treat as steakhouses usually offer up a good deal in putting together their Restaurant Week menus. The food was very disappointing. I could easily tell the salad was pre-made -- the plate was clearly refrigerated. Not to mention the fact that I could have made the same salad myself for about $2. My filet mignon was OK but nothing special. It was cooked the way I wanted but very underwhelming compared to other steakhouses. I'd have to say the best part of the meal was the bread pudding dessert, but the portions were surprisingly small. Suffice to say I won't be eating here again. Why would I want to when the Willett House is just up the street?"

  • "We were a group of 7 and were disappointed. The service was not good. 2 different people in the group had to ask for more bread several times each, and the restaurant was less than 1/2 full. Everyone's steak was overcooked. And so was the one salmon. There was no choice for dessert, just some bread pudding which was not tasty at all. We thought that there was supposed to be a choice of 2-3 items for each course. But on a positive note, the crab cake appetizer and the back bean soup were very good. Perhaps this is someplace to go to when it's not Restaurant Week."

  • "food excellent. waiter great. downside was at the bar before we were seated. bartender was NOT friendly Seemed annoyed to have to serve me. an empty seat was next to my friend and a man who kept the chair close to him-he was saving it for someone who wasn't there yet and very begrudgingly let me have it when asked nicely to let me sit. he nastily said to me someone would be sitting on my lap soon. I said I'm very sorry but we won't be long and I'll give it back when your friend arrives. 15 min later the bartender informs me that he needs us to go to our table because the man needs his chair for a friend who is on the way--he still WAS NOT there yet. Very rude and uncalled for and a bad start to what was supposed to be a nice evening out."

  • "Frankie & Johnnie's is one great steakhouse who serves up a wonderful selection for restaurant week and doesn't add an up charge for ordering the meat. That is so much fairer to be able to taste what the restaurant has to offer and not be haggled into an extra expense or what is the purpose of participating in restaurant week if you are going to increase your prices? The meat was prepared as requested and was very flavorful. The portions were appropriate and satisfied the appetite. The wait staff was very attentive. We even ordered oysters, not on the restaurant week menu and they were very fresh."

  • "We went during Restaurant Week--the prix fixe menu was limited to begin with, yet they were out of the special soup and offered only two desserts: bread pudding (just fair) and ice cream (chocolate and vanilla -- come one! if that's all you're offering, how about a few more interesting flavors ?). While the service is attentive, the restaurant in general is mediocre. You can get MUCH better steak in a dozen Westchester steak houses, including Willett House in Port Chester), and a huge television is on non-stop at the bar and visible from all angles; this is simply not a place to go for a great, or even good, dinner. There is far better out there. Or just eat at home and watch TV during dinner --the food will likely be much better."

  • "Being a life long westchester/Rye resident, i was VERY unhappy about the service here.... Our server looked as if he wanted to get us out ASAP. he didn't even come to see how our dinner was...... Now I know servers depend on TIPS- and this was on a night during restaurant week, HOWEVER, they should not assume that they will be getting less than 20%-- unless the service is poor, and in this case, it was....... Our server even tried to pursue us to order from the normal menu..... I was VERY unhappy with the service. We came this past week on a Tuesday. If a server is not interested in his job and only cares about TIPS then maybe that server should look for a better job- to better himself and not take it out on customers.... THank you,....."

The salmon was the best I've had - preparation, presentation and most importantly, taste! The steak was as good as you'll get at any of the well-known NYC steak houses."

  • "As soon as we walked in the restaurant the host ask our name and took us to the table, she was very welcoming. This was our first time in this restaurant and Rye for that matter I would have to say we enjoy our meal and the service. The people working there are polite including the manager on duty; he approached us twice that evening to see if everything was going fine. Highly recommend Frankie & Johnny Restaurant for a delicious meal and great service."

Although I do believe that the prices are a little steep, the food, service, and atmosphere was wonderful. We really enjoyed our meal. We highly recommend the filet mignon, the applewood bacon appetizer, and the bread pudding (uhhhh, so good :-) We will definitely return!"
