Service was excellent -- attentive without being intrusive; courses arrived in timely but not rushed fashion. Very comfortable and unpretentious for a high-end NYC steak house. Having said that, my husband and I expected to pay a high dollar for steaks and wine. The wait staff was very attentive without being intrusive, FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, ambiance was very good and love the complimentary "anywhere in Mamhattan" limo service. Perfect location for a special occasion or enjoy their lower priced entrees any day of the week. The bar downstairs has a great vibe and attractive menu, which we will be trying - looks like a fun place to end a long day at.

When we arrived a few minutes before our reservation we were immediately seated at the table near the fireplace and at the end they brought a piece of cake with a candle. My boyfriend was surprised as I was bnever alone to tell them it was his brithday. I told him after I advised when I made the reservation. He loved the restaurant. The service and food was great. Everything worked out perfectly. The food selection was great and three of the four entrees were excellent. The one fish special entree however was good but a bit on the bland side. There are not many up-scale restaurants within a 15-minute walk of MSG but I consider Frankie & Johnnies Steakhouse to fit the bill. They have a nice steak selection and I also loved the Chilean Sea Bass. Members of our group were all quite satisfied with their Ribeye and Fillet selections. The side dishes were served family style which is nice as it gave everyone options but I would have liked a wider selection to choose from. One cool aspect is this restaurant resides in John Barrymore's former apartment.
