Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouse - Manhattan
Steak and chopsWe were on a hunt for a great steak and pork chop for our last night in the city. They got us in quickly, fed us some great cuts cooked perfectly, paired them with good wine, and then even offered to limo us back to the hotel as the rain had come in. We slept like babies.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent FoodEverything we had, from the appetizers to the steaks to the wine was awesome. The service was attentive without being too pushy as well, quite a trick. Not inexpensive but about right for New York City.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent steaks and calvesExcellent steaks and calves liver.......in the old style and not too loud.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFilet and Lobster Bisque!!!My husband and I both had the filet with mushroom cap, asparagus and mashed potatoes. The lobster bisque s melts in your mouth! This service was a little stiff, but the experience on the whole was excellent!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMthe complementary limo ridethe complementary limo ride was a wonderful bonus!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat special occasion spotTop notch steaks and seafood in comfortable, classic steak house decor and ambiance. Crab cocktail was fresh and plentiful, salmon was perfect and ribeye was something from the Flintstones! Pricey and somewhat unimaginative wine list. Service was excellent -- attentive without being intrusive; courses arrived in timely but not rushed fashion. Very comfortable and unpretentious for a high-end NYC steak house. Highly recommended.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey but no regretsDon't expect a dinner for two with any of the top entree choices to be inexpensive. Having said that, my husband and I expected to pay a high dollar for steaks and wine. The wait staff was very attentive without being intrusive, FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, ambiance was very good and love the complimentary "anywhere in Mamhattan" limo service. Perfect location for a special occasion or enjoy their lower priced entrees any day of the week. The bar downstairs has a great vibe and attractive menu, which we will be trying - looks like a fun place to end a long day at.
Definitely recommend!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great. A reallyThe food was great. A really good bottle of wine also! When we arrived a few minutes before our reservation we were immediately seated at the table near the fireplace and at the end they brought a piece of cake with a candle. My boyfriend was surprised as I was bnever alone to tell them it was his brithday. I told him after I advised when I made the reservation. He loved the restaurant. The service and food was great. Melt in your mouth filet mignon and lobster tail. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a party of four andWe had a party of four and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Everything worked out perfectly. The food selection was great and three of the four entrees were excellent. The one fish special entree however was good but a bit on the bland side. We highly recommend F&J's and would go again anytime.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there on a slow night,We were there on a slow night, but all aspects of the evening were great.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe got a free limo serviceWe got a free limo service after dinner to our show on Broadway-- this is by far the best value you can get (and it makes the $96 Porterhouse for two so reasonable when you add up this extra!)!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat option for dinner near MSGMy group was recently in NYC for an event at MSG and desired to have a nice dinner prior to the event. There are not many up-scale restaurants within a 15-minute walk of MSG but I consider Frankie & Johnnies Steakhouse to fit the bill. They have a nice steak selection and I also loved the Chilean Sea Bass. Members of our group were all quite satisfied with their Ribeye and Fillet selections. The side dishes were served family style which is nice as it gave everyone options but I would have liked a wider selection to choose from. One cool aspect is this restaurant resides in John Barrymore's former apartment. While we enjoyed dinning in his ornate Study, a story or two about the history from our server would have been a nice touch.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were bothFood and service were both spot on.
