FRANK @ The Art Gallery of OntarioSit in the mezzanine so thatSit in the mezzanine so that you can look at the sculpture. What more do you need? The fact that it is absolutely exquisite food is almost beside the point... almost. Bravo.12/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI always have lunch at FrankI always have lunch at Frank when visiting Toronto for an AGO exhibition. It's become an essential part of the eperience. The food and service never fail to be excellent.10/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery friebdly and attentiveVery friebdly and attentive service. Esthetically pleasing and beautiful 'modern' yet warm dining room. A must include in your AGO visit. Weill definitely come back.7/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first visit to Frank'sMy husband & I decided to have brunch at Frank's prior to going to the Renaissance exhibition, & had asked for a quiet table. We were very pleased with our table & situation, as we away from the main dining area & bar, & could carry on a quiet conversation easily. Our waitress was excellent, as she was attentive but not interfering, & gave us plenty of time to review the wine list & menu before taking our orders, & was always around to refill our water glasses & make sure that we had everything we needed.
The Brunch menu was interesting & tempting with good choices for both appetisers & entree dishes. The food was tasty & well presented, with some delicious extras like the "bacon jam" which we both enjoyed.7/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest visitWe frequently dine for lunch at Frank. On occasion, I've found the noise level intrusive, particularly on the upper level, so asked to be seated elsewhere. We were led to table 52, which was less crowded, but after sitting for a while, found the audio more intrusive than ever - we had difficulty hearing each other (3 of us). Our server 'made the day' - not only reducing the audio, but accommodating us in every other way. Her recommendation for wine, plus her overall enthusiasm for our dining selection proved she knew the excellence of the kitchen chef and staff. Her name is Stephanie N. - and we appreciated her outgoing personality and sense of humour. She affirmed another reason for my longstanding AGO membership.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe don't cook like this at homeAmazing combinations of flavours. A meal to savour and eat slowly, enjoying every bite.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI very much appreciate thatI very much appreciate that there is an appropriate range of offerings and I know no matter what I choose the dish will be very well executed: tasty, fresh and honest.
I really love that this is our restaurant, at our art gallery.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA great experienceWe really enjoyed our evening at franks. Our waiter was great. Very informative. She was lovely (and delightful!).6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMRevealing the RenaissanceThis restaurant always combines special events with their food and wine selection. Waiters could be a bit more knowledgeable about food pairings but overall a very pleasant experience. Risotto and scallops were unique and delicious. We plan to have dinner there every time we go to a special event.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFrank is a keeperMy wife and I often dine at Frank when we go to the AGO. Frank and the AGO are both 5 star venus.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTo dine with fine wine - go AGO!A Perfect location for comfortable dining in a stylish setting only steps away from Great Masters, Innovative Art Installations, and inspiring pieces of Art. The menu is comprehensive and interesting offering excellent taste and perfectly sized portions. We found the waitstaff to be not only skilled and knowledgeable but most pleasant and more than willing to accommodate dietary limitations.I particularly enjoyed the Tuna with mango and highly recommend it. This was the first time we have experienced Frank's; however, to be sure, it will not be the last.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMRenaissance Prix Fixe DinnerMy husband and I had a lovely dinner at Frank's last Friday on members' night (May 31st)-- after viewing the Renaissance exhibit. It was a memorable evening for art and food (I had the scallops & my husband the beef). I especially enjoy the themed dinners that "go with" the main exhibit. The food was fresh, tasty and artistically served. Our waiter was terrific and very attentive. All and all a lovely evening.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMalways always lovelyfood is always on point. service is gracious and attentive. the people at Frank have never disappointed.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMChe buon gusto! Mamma Mia!The polenta was exceptional tweaked in a great culinary manner---savoury and memorable.
Staff was obliging and always helpful and friendly.
Overall a geat culinary experience.
Thanks AGO foodies!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAttention: Out of Town DinersWonderful service, food, and ambiance at Frank's at the AGO.
Sophisticated dining at its best.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI enjoyed my lunch at theI enjoyed my lunch at the Frank and would dine there again5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAn evening out at the AGOFrank restaurtant is a lovely way to meet up with friends to begin or end an outing at the AGO. I met with a friend recently to attend an evening lecture on a Thursday evening. It was a convenient and lovely rendezvous point. The chardonnay house wine was just lovely and the menu selection very enticing. The staff were gracious and added to the classy and elegant feel of the restaurant.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasure. RecommendAlways a pleasure. Recommend the prix-fixe dinner themed to the current exhibition. Knowledgeable staff that doesn't rush the client.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place for a businessA great place for a business lunch. Good service and consistently good food.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA great spot!We are from out of town so lunch at Franks is a special treat. We picked from the the prix fixe three-course menu ($35) and the food was divine. There were four of us and we tried different items and no one was disappointed......a great finish to seeing a a stunning exhibit at the AGO. Make sure to make a reservation well in advance as we have been out of luck getting in several times.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a good choiceI always enjoy the food at Frank. I usually go while attending the special art exhibit, and the menu changes according to the exhibit showing at the time. The quality of the food is always good and the service is friendly. It can be noisy in certain parts of the restaurant, but the rooms at the back are quiet.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was attentive,The service was attentive, the food was delicious. We had the set three course menu of Italian food.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNice restaurantWe had an special guest and we decided to do something "different". That's why we went to Frank. It's a nice restaurant and people are very friendly. Service was good ad the food delicious. Anyway, as a personal opinion, I liked much more the ambiance & decoration of "AGORA" (the restaurant before this one in the AGO). But... It's a matter of taste. But in general was a god experience. Particularly because the have a "Dinner Menu" of three plates (entree, main, desert, coffee) for $45 which is not bad considering the place. Very recommendable.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA pleasant experienceOverall, this was a good experience for our party of four. Good service and good food, good drinks and not too much noise. I made a mistake in ordering the fish, should have gone for the veal, but that's the breaks of the game. I would return for another special occasion -- the bill for the four of us came close to $400 for us, so that's high in our books, and we couldn't afford it too frequently. But we had before-dinner drinks, a bottle of wine and dessert, so that's probably not bad for the centre of Toronto. I particularly enjoyed looking out the window at the row of old Toronto houses on Dundas -- hope they're protected by Toronto's heritage code; if not they should be since they certainly add to the ambience of a restaurant in the AGO.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a slot for the 6 pmI had a slot for the 6 pm viewing of the Florence exhibit. I was served promptly and efficiently. The tune was suitably rare and the garlic fries side good as usual5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMembers' Nights at AGOAn excellent way to take advantage of the members' only nights-dine at Frank at 5:30 and be on hand to visit the display as it opens at 7- both restaurant and exhibit less crowded.
The three course special prix fixe had an excellent cold soup, or ample colourful salad, good fish/pork or vegetarian mains, and two OK desserts. While the food was tasty and eye-appealing, what was particularly outstanding was the service with a cheerful, involved waitress and polite, attentive service from the assistant servers.
Enjoyable dinner.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGG's BirthdayWhen I booked through Open Table it asked me if there was any special occasion, I indicted it was my friend's Birthday. I thought this would have been noticed by a small gesture, maybe at dessert time for her; this was not. I have no problem with it but why ask if you do not intend to do anything. I certainly wasn't looking for much but it would have completed the lunch with some recognition.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! The three of us ordered something different and all three plates looked fabulous and were delicious. The service was excellent. And so was the dessert!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Weekend BrunchFRANK was delicious, stylish, with incredible service. A truly special day. FRANK-LY divine.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat prelude to artA lovely place to congregate with a group before touring the gallery, fun and light hearted.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh Quality, UnpretentiousA group of four of us, two members of the AGO and two visitors from New Brunswick, wanted good food and a civilized place to talk while eating. Frank's Restaurant provided that.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service!I took a friend to Frank who was in Toronto from out of town. The appetize and dessert I had were excellent but the risotto main left something to be desired.
The menu is very small and though they have a separate menu for prix fixe and a la carte, you can actually order from either - just ask. I found the menu options very limited for mains given I can't eat pork.
The service was excellent though and it is quite a nice, modern restauarnt, although I thought it was a little less dramatic than I had expected given its location at the AGO.
If you live in Toronto and have never been, it's worth a try.3/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
