The restaurant has a very historical feeling with old pictures of previous owners. The mushroom bisque soup was very good. The shrimp appetizer was enjoyed by our whole table. Frank and Pauly's signature salad was delicious. Our whole party enjoyed their pasta dishes. My husband ordered the Mahi Mahi seafood special but was told after placing the order that Mahi Mahi was unavailable. Wine recommended by our server was excellent. Server was attentive. Overall good experience. Had made reservations and was initially seated by the front entrance which was very drafty. Would recommend to owners to change table arrangements away from the door, or to seat parties with reservations at better tables. (Especially when the restaurant was not crowded)

I dined at Frank & Pauly's along with two friends. I enjoyed my visit however one of my friends could not his meal and was quite disappointed. He thought the tomatoe sauce was far to sweet. I agree. I don't know why sugar is added to tomatoe sauces but it is just wrong - perhaps a VERY LITTLE might help. Same for the salad dressing. Cut back on the sugar and it would just perfect. For me the eggplant was excellent. The interior is a bit too dark and heavy looking. Lighten up the interior for a more friendly experience. Remove all that wood and dated dark color.

Worst dining experience ever. Once seated 15 minutes till anyone came over, 10 more to get drinks. We asked to order and for the specials. 40 minutes for our food. While waiting never checked on or beverages refilled. Swearing in the kitchen could be heard in restaurant. The server put in the special expresso crusted strip steak for our 6 year old daughter. Since our food was dropped and no check back it was never eaten. Asked for check 25 minutes to get it. Talked to tables around us they were also having terrible service. 1 had to go to the bar and get a bottle of wine and glasses for her table. on leaving I told everyone entering to find somewhere else to eat!! We usually give a place a 2nd chance but we wont.

We wanted a dinner only, not the party. So when we were seated and saw the menu prices, we changed our minds. We were not going to pay $35.00 each for a chicken dinner without the party. Our fault for not calling. We just wanted a little dinner before we went to a movie. There is no problem with the cost for a full night of fun.

Not a "foodie" place, but then neither are the prices. This Frank & Pauly's is different from the restaurant in the BP Building years ago. While the decor is similar, the portions here are more reasonable, i.e. the salad serves 1 instead of 3. We went on a night that was pretty snowy, I hope that is why the restaurant was nearly empty. I would go again when I want a good meal, in nice surroundings at a fair price.

You know it's been a long time since I have been to Frank and Pauly's. The last one I was at was when it was downtown. I enjoyed going down there because of the history, I come to this one and it's even better than the last. I really enjoyed my experience, it was quiet, romantic, the service was awesome and I even got to meet one of the owners. I would definetely recommend this resteraunt to anybody looking for a romantic history filled place to eat.

Ambiance nice. Food enjoyable, although I personally didn't care for pasta sauce. Not enough garlic. Both people who ordered pasta with shrimp needed to add salt and said it needed it, but after said it was good. Mushroom bisque was very good along with salads. Wine reasonably priced. Even though I only gave average, I would go back again. Waitress very nice, however forgot to bring appetizer that was ordered, but gave to customer to bring home without charging. Owner came to table which is always appreciated.

We loved this restaurant the first 3 times we were there. I don't know what happened this time but we were quite disappointed. Granted, we were there on Sweetest Day at6;45. The restaurant was not crowded at all but the service was extremely slow..our veal dishes were tough but the sauce was tasty. We can not afford to lose another upscale restaurant in Mentor so I really hope this was just a bad night. I also believe that I read they were losing their head chef, so I really hope that they will get another quality chef soon.

We are foodies, we also like to go out and find good dining spots for us to have a nice meal with friends. We were very dissapointed with both the food and the service. The food was pedestrian at best and it was barely luke warm when it arrived. Being steak, I did not send it back to be warmed for did not want it overdone. The presentation of the steak with shrimp was juvenille. It had a wooden skewer with 3 tiny shrimp and another skewer with some pieces of pepper and pineapple on it. It looked like large toothpicks thrown on top of the steak, more wood skewer than food on it. waitress never came back to refill water glasses, a busboy was more attentive to our needs. Our entree for 2 was the "special" steak and bottle wine $50.

Reasonably good experience. The food I ate was on special for the night. It was very tasty although my risotto was a bit undercooked and a touch dry. The ambiance was nice with the lighting, table decor and overall interior decor. This was a little pricey, but I had expected that due to the types of food they offered. Let me state that i'm not a food critic by any means, but I know when something tastes good. And i'm certainly nowhere near a wine aficionado, but I rather enjoyed the restaurants selection. I ordered espresso with my dessert and was very dissapointed to find out that their machine wasn't working. And the Tiramasu I had ate for dessert seemed very store bought. It was such a small serving! Parchment paper was on it's bottom!

Very slow service out of the kitchen. Our server was excellent in keeping us updated on our food. There was a large part there that occupied the bar and kitchen staff. Our food and drinks took excessively long. If they're going to have large groups there then have extra staff working. We will not repeat and were very disappointed,as my wife and I had been looking forward to going there for weeks. Do not order the chicken piccata ( no flavor). Chicken parm was almost burnt it was so over cooked.

My sister was visiting from out of town and we wanted to take her somewhere local. Arrived at 6:20 and did not leave until almost 8:30. The service was extremely slow. It was clear it was not our server Karen. She made the effort to take care of us and was very pleasant. There was a large private party upstairs and it was clear that was the kitchen's priority that evening. We waited a long time for everything from our bar beverages to our dessert. We went there because of their daily Mushroom Bisque. We were told because of the private party the chef didn't make it that evening. Yet they prepared the unamed soup-of-the-day. (Why not the soup they were well known for? I'm sorry but, we would would not go there again.

Made a reservation for 5:45 on a Tuesday night. When we got there, we had to go looking for someone to seat us. This was after waiting 10 min at the hostess stand. We were the only diners at that time. Also, the flavors of the foods are way to overwhelming. The perch was good, but the cajun cole slaw and the parmesan fries were a strange combination and way too much. Also, the walnut chicken penne was way to rich and spicy. I bit into a huge chunk of garlic thinking it was a walnut. It made me choke from the spicey surprise. Miss the old chef.

No one working at the hostess desk. After waiting a while, had to tell the bartender to have someone seat us. Was told we would have a wait for our table, even though we had reservations and there were empty tables. After ordering, had over an hour wait for our food. Food was tasteless. We heard several other people remarking on the tastelessness of the food as they walked by our table to leave. Loved Frank and Pauleys when they were downtown. Will not be going back to this Mentor location.

Food-Linguine with clam sauce; had to ask for clams (almost non-existen) and was brought some in a dish. Still not the amount I get in other restaurants plus fresh clams in the shell for same price. Linguine over-cooked and the worst is it was BROKEN. No way to wind on a fork without ends hanging down. It took a lot of time for the food to be served. The number of customers inside and outside was not an excuse. I don't think they had enough help in the kitchen.

The dining experience was ok, food was good, and server was friendly/kowledgeable.(This was the dining room only making our way to the patio for the nights entertainment was much different the entertainment was outstanding, however patio experience was horrible ! The outdoor bar was not functional at all and the severers outdoors were disasterously running all over to get simple items such as water, and napkins. And not one person asked us if we would like a drink for over an hour and fifteen minutes. There were noteable training issues. No one seemed to know how to operate the computer! I had checked reviews before our visit and saw so many saying the service was slow. Figured we'd still check it out and hope our experience wasn't as bad. The staff seemed very disorganized. Sat on the patio and there were about 5 servers walking around, all looking confused. The table behind us was there for over a half hour before ordering drinks, and only then b/c they complained about the wait. Our server was apologetic for the delays and very friendly, but our overall dining experience was over 2 hours. And when we arrived, there were only 2 other tables occupied. The food was "OK" at best. The salad and desert were the best parts. My husband ordered chicken parmesan that was burnt. My alfredo was very lumpy, not saucy at all.
