FrancoDelicious French bistro fare....Delicious French bistro fare.... Interesting, beautifully presented tasty dishes!
squash blossoms were delicious. Our group of 4 all loved their dishes and plan to come back again!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional DiningIt's rare when all the food is perfect, the staff in friendly and I leave a good restaurant feeling I really received value for the cost. All of that was true at Franco's. the food was over the top good and the only negative, and small compared with all that was good, was that service was a little slow at first, but they were busy. A huge positive was that when the AC was blowing on our table and I asked our waitress if she could turn it down, she simply said no problem and did it, instead of looking at me like I was crazy or promising to turn it down and have nothing happen.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome experience. We areAwesome experience. We are never disappointed! Thank you.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place to go for French in STLMy friend just returned from France and was still craving French food, so we went to Franco. Delicious all-around! We just got a little bit of several things and shared. Scallops and escargot were our first choices. Both were delicious, but the escargot and it's cream sauce really stood out! We went through two servings of bread as we mopped up every drop of that sauce! Brussel sprouts with bacon was our next choice, then onto the pork belly app. Sprouts were delicious (esp. with bacon!), but we were slightly underwhelmed with the pork belly. In my opinion, it was just a matter of preference. The visual of the columns of pork separated into fat and some meat was just visually unappealing. Apple tart desert was awesome finish!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAvoid the steakWe loved everything about the restaurant, except a very poor steak, All the other food was fantastic, especially the trout and Brussels sprouts.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPortions larger than expected.Portions larger than expected. We had the ribeye, large amount of fries( pommes frites). Will do some small plates next time.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDate nightFranco is one of our favorite restaurants—especially for date night. The menu shifts to take advantage of fresh ingredients, so there's always something new to try and at the same time a standard of excellence we can rely on. The trout is always good. On a cold night, cassoulet is warm and comforting. Don't miss the classic cocktails.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed it all. Great firstEnjoyed it all. Great first time experience there. Want to go back.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Restaurant! This restaurant is the best in stl, hands down! Beautiful and delicious with great people.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting, imaginative menu,Interesting, imaginative menu, especially for seafood. Service was attentive, but not overbearing.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food in a great neighborhood! My husband and I live in Soulard and love coming to Franco every few months for a nice night out away from the typical Soulard bar scene. Last weekend did not disappoint, great food, great service, great atmosphere. We had the scallops, escargot, steak and pomme frites, everything was just so good and we look forward to returning!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was absolutely amazingThe food was absolutely amazing I finished my fish and then moved on to finish what my sister left on her plate. It was my birthday dinner and I wanted to find somewhere that would be just perfect and this was an amazing find. I'm taking everyone I can back to visit. The dining room was open and the lighting made it intimate while the live music made it just the right feeling. I could've sat there for hours ordering more and more. Oh and my whole group decided that the bread was the best we have ever had, everything was perfect.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA delicious Soulard findHoused in the former Welsh Baby Carriage Factory, the high-ceilinged Franco has an open, welcoming loft space feel to it. The food is inventive and delicious, with both small plate and entrée options. There are plenty of seafood and meaty choices on the menu, and everything our party of four ordered was perfectly prepared. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable; our server was able to recommend wine pairings for our selections. We were visiting from Chicago and will definitely return on our next visit. Our St. Louis hosts plan to add Franco to their regular rotation.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFranco is my favoriteSince it opened, Franco has been my go-to place for celebrations, dates, special events, a night-cap, dinner, drinks, small plate at the bar. Franco consistently out-performs other St. Louis restaurants for food quality and selection; friendly and attentive staff; and just being a relaxed, fun place to be. The vegetarian choices are outstanding, seafood so fresh it seems they must have just caught it, and oh my - the desserts. Smiley face here.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good food withConsistently good food with an attentive staff who make educated suggestions for both food and wine. The sauces are especially good and well balanced. There are always interesting specials as well as a nice range of menu choices which is why we continue to go back even though it is not at all near our home. One of our favorites in St. Louis.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good rustic French menuVery good rustic French menu made with only local foods bought from farmers market and local merchants. High end service and food. Very good, recommended.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was delicious,Everything was delicious, the special was red snapper and one of the best meals I have ever had, and that is saying alot!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been going to FrancoI've been going to Franco for the past three years, and they consistently impress. The food is inventive and of high quality, and the servers seem genuinely friendly and are attentive without hovering. The flavor combinations the kitchen presents you with are spot-on: trout, shiitake, and hazelnut or corn-ginger beignets, on this last trip. Also, I have never felt rushed - there has never been a sense that they were over-eager to turn tables. I'm a big fan.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDespite it's odd location,Despite it's odd location, this restaurant is classy, but doesn't take itself too seriously. It has a great wine and old-fashioned drink list and a fine array of delectable morsels on the menu. The ambiance is modern with oddly shaped tables, ceiling hangings, and layout, which make it a very interesting dining experience.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBrought out of town guestBrought out of town guest and had wonderful meal, fun dining experience.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLocated next to the SoulardLocated next to the Soulard Farmers Market near the Lafayette Square and Benton Park neighborhoods south of downtown St. Louis, this is a consistently great restaurant. We have been dining at Francos since 2008. The interior walls are bare brick from what was originally a manufacturing or warehouse building. The chef uses as many locally available ingredients as possible. Recently, one of us had Missouri Trout and the other a silkie snapper with roasted brussel sprouts. The food is very fresh and cooked to the right crisy tender for the vegetables and crisp exterior on the very fresh fish but moist and succulent inside. There is a good selection of different wine varietals by the glass. The salted caramel ice cream was delicious.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I went to Franco'sMy husband and I went to Franco's for our anniversary dinner. First time there and we thought food was very good and our waiter was excellent. We had escargot for app and those where delicious. They brought warm bread and warm butter which was also good. For dinner he had the french onion soup which he said was good but said his mom makes better and I had caesar salad which was satisfying but I was surprised it wasn't better. For dinner I had the rainbow trout very flavorful. He had the rib eye which was cooked well. Accompanied with the steak was fries and brussel sprouts. We both agreed that entree would have been better enjoyed with more appetizing sides. We had three drinks on our bill and dessert & spent little over $100. Will go again3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved a dinner of small plates,Loved a dinner of small plates, shared with my friend. Just enough food and each dish delish. Always a treat.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal and service asGreat meal and service as always. One of our favorite French Bistro restaurants. Great space, great food, great service.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFranco, the Old ReliableFranco is always reliable for great food, service, and atmosphere. We were seated promptly and welcomed by the entire staff. Our server was very knowledgable about the on and off menu items. We had the flounder and rainbow trout--both superbly prepared. A mushroom medley was scrumptious!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFranco was perfect for ourFranco was perfect for our romantic night out! The menu had different choices and everything we had was phenomenal!3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGem in SoulardVery impressed. The white anchovies are terrific. My wife loved her trout, and the Coq Audi Biere (a variation of Coq Audi Vin), my beer-braised chicken with vegetable, was earthy and satisfying. The wine and drink lists are broad, well chosen, and fairly priced. Service was attentive. We will definitely be back.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMReliably good bistro-typeReliably good bistro-type food. The kitchen is very cooperative when asked to customize dishes according to preference.12/28/2012 12:00:00 AM
