  • Tuesday's Tasting Menu is the best deal in SLC

At $30, Tuesday's tasting menu is incomparable. If you're a three hundred pound offensive lineman, choose the regular menu but for the rest of us, this is the quite enough, thank you very much! Three courses - which always turns into four since you get the unadvertised soup - beautifully presented, wonderfully diverse, and every mouthful a treat. Service is outstanding and the ambiance is welcoming. This IS the best deal in the city.

I frequently travel to Salt Lake City for business and have entertained clients here a couple of times over the past few years. I love the ambiance, like being in someone's home with a fire in the fireplace and evergreen trees outside the windows. The food has always been fabulous. I had a small group here for a special wine-pairing event with a set 4-course menu. The wines were very nice and well paired with the food but I'd give the food mixed reviews - first two courses were great but I didn't enjoy the second two as much. I'm just not a huge fan of duck or pork shank, but others really enjoyed it. I still love this restaurant and will definitely come back again. Service was excellent.

I have been going here for years and the quality of the food and the value has been going down over the years but still decent for the ocassional outing. On my most recent visit, I noticed that they are now charging for soup and salad, an item that use to come with the meal. The portions, at least on the wagyu seem to be smaller, something my companion also noticed. The brussel sprouts were also not as good as they've been in the past. And the last 2 sampling menus that we have had there have been okay to gross. While we have noticed a decline in quality over the years, the steak and soup were always decent enough to warrant coming back but not anymore. Service still amazing!

What an unexpected pleasure to find such a place as this. from the moment we walked in to the valet presenting our car after dinner, we felt like we were pampered. The food wasnothing short of amazing. It was fresh, flavorful, left our palate wanting more. The wait staff was professional and checked up on us just the right number of times without being over bearing.

Our dinner was terrific. The three of us shared two starters: the brussel sprouts which were recommended by our excellent and attentive server Wendy, and the mushroom tarte. Both were delicious. The next course was the Soup. Francks always serves the most delicious soups and that night it didn't disappoint. Our entrees were not only photo worthy but more importantly tasted so good. We had the Duck, Wagyu Sirloin and the Lamb - Fantastic! It was a terrific meal and dining experience.

Franck's regular menu is on a price par with many good restaurants in the city but their Tuesday 'Tasting Menu' sets it apart. $30 for a three course meal that will knock your socks off with dazzling presentation and superb variety of tastes. If you're strictly 'meat and potatoes' they have a great meat loaf but the 'Tasting Menu' is our constant choice. Ambiance at this restaurant is lovely and the service is letter perfect.

First time there (to celebrate our anniversary) and highly recommended by friends, great service and the food was awesome. Took my hubby to Franck's for birthday. Reservation was for 8pm on a gorgeous late September evening, so eating outside was a must. Like its next door neighbor, Tuscany (where we enjoy dining), the grounds are beautiful, & for those who chill easily, patio warmers are readily available. We dined on brussel sprouts, wedge salad, butterscotch cauliflower soup, an arugula (& maybe polenta?) coffee-infused taster, wagyu, & meatloaf. Every dish had a sweet & savory element. For dessert, a complimentary fruity creme brulee, & a chocolate torte. Food was delicious, except we did not love the wagyu dish, (I think horseradish was the culprit), which is unfortunate to pay $40 in that case. Portions are generous, as we had leftovers. Service was nice.

Franck's is my favorite restaurant out of all the restaurants I have ever eaten at. Having lived all over the west coast, it is on par or better than all the places I have experienced. The menu is always imaginative and executed to perfection. The best item on the menu is the Sous Vide Wagyu steak, it just melts in your mouth. Careful though, it may make it so you don't ever want another steak. The fondue and brussel sprout appetizers are not to be missed. The servers are always friendly and on point.

When I first found Franck's three years ago I described it as world class, now I don't know that I'll ever go back again. It was my birthday dinner but we decided to forgo dessert because the soup was so cloyingly sweet we didn't want anymore sugar. The pork belly had too many notes of flavor, the hot wings were unimpressive, the brussel sprouts I used to love were dried out and bland, the bread stale and the butter a sad hunk cut off the stick. Our server mumbled, our meal was luke warm and served far later than it should have taken. I hesitated to post a bad review, because I love Franck's, but I want to ensure they know how one long-time diner felt about their experience. I hope they can get things back to where it was.

My wife believed she may have left her sunglasses while at dinner. I called next day and was assured they were not in the place they would be if found. I explained exactly where they would be if we had left them. I was told the same crew would be returning and maybe they knew something. My contact would not apparently look where I indicated so my wife drove there and could not gain entry. She returned later to unfriendly staff who begrudgingly allowed her to enter. She found her glasses on the dining room floor in the exact location I had indicated. There was no apology or other acknowledgement whatsoever. Although our waiter was fine, my years in the industry run completely counter to this level of customer service.

In spite of the neighborhood, the restaurant has enough foliage to hide the street and provide a very quiet atmosphere. Afraid then that I was under-dressed in t-shirt and jeans, I noted that people dressed in all fashions were walking in and I would feel comfortable in any attire. We had the ono appetizer because it sounded different. It was tasty but rather small for $12, but my husband enjoyed that more than I did. We usually share a meal, but I had read several reviews touting the meatloaf as well as the fried chicken, so we got both. Neither was a disappointment. In fact, amazing would be more accurate. The unique combination of flavors are inspired and demand that the diner to savor rather than devour each bite. Pricey, but worth it.

    Dined on 9/2/2014
Franck's is our new favorite restaurant. By all means peruse and try the entire menu (particularly the brussel sprout starter) but my goal here is to recommend the best dining value in the valley in the form of their Tuesday 'Tasting Menu'. Three courses (which has always turned into four with the addition of the daily soup) for $30 and every mouthful is sensational. Tasting menus typically have smaller portions and that's the case here but don't think you'll walk away hungry; we can guarantee you won't. This Tuesday tasting menu has always been exceptional, both in terms of the taste and quality AND the outstanding service and 'presentation'. One last thing: you simply won't believe the 'uniqueness' of the courses.

We have been to Franck's before. This time we were disappointed. Ordered sea bass which was way too salty. There were 6 of us, the meals came out separately. Normal etiquette would dictate to wait to eat until everyone was served. The first person served to the last was greater than 5 minutes. We will not go back especially if the menu is not expanded. How many times do you want to pay $27 for meatloaf or $33 for salty sea bass?

The specials on the menu were the chef's whimsical creations. Sometimes, as in the duck with a dark chocolate fois gras sauce, they worked pretty well. Others such as the BLT soup were just weird. I got lucky and managed to hit mostly good stuff. My wife's meal was generally on the weird side, and she left most of it on the table.

My husband and I went here for the first time for our anniversary, and it was fantastic! People who rave about the meatloaf and sous vide steak are not exaggerating—SO. GOOD. We also had the crispy Brussels sprouts, which were also incredible. I particularly loved my husband's cocktail (I can't remember what it was called, but it was basically a whiskey sour with fresh mint), and promptly traded him for mine (a rum/pineapple juice concoction that was a bit too sweet for me). For dessert, we had the whiskey butterscotch pudding. It was STRONG. Very tasty, but I couldn't eat much more than a few bites. The staff was very attentive and kind as well. The manager came out and wished us a happy anniversary! Great experience.
