What a wonderful experience! The staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and not intrusive. Food was amazing! Bread was fresh out of the oven and still warm when served. Our group felt like we were visiting a friend's large Italian family home, it was cozy and we were well taken care of. We even decided to have a contest to see if any of us could drink our water below halfway down the glass before someone came to refill it, no one could! I can't wait to go back!

we decided to got o Francesca's because we had not been there for a while. The service was good as always, but the food had improved. The salads were tasty and imaginative - lots of vegggies and blue cheese. The bread - warm and fresh- kept coming with very good olive oil. The fish was fresh and nicely prepared and the pasta was aldente just like its supposed to be. The wine list offers something for everyone. Dessert was utstanidng. Profiteroles with pistachio ice cream and great chocalte. I very nice evening.

Took advantage of their National Pasta Day offer and thought the five choices were generous and flavorful. We added sausage to a rigatoni special that sent it over the top. Love this restaurant! The food and service are constantly perfect!

Worst service ever. Was there on 10/11 for dinner. We had reservations for 3 at 7:45. We were seated immediately upon arrival, but after that everything went downhill. I have to say the service was absolutely horrible. It took our server a while to even greet us for a drink order, and we had to flag him over so we could order appetizers. We then waited 1.5 hrs for our waiter to take our dinner order. He didn't come back to see if we needed more drinks, we had to flag him over several times to try to give our order in which he would say "I'll be right over". When he finally came over, he was rude to our party stating "oh your ready now to order". It took another 25 minutes to get our food and I would say it was very mediocre.

Despite the fact that we unexpectedly added another individual to our group of 8 and some of the group was delayed going to a different Francesca's by mistake, the wait staff was very accommodating. A very enjoyable experience. We were impressed with the fact that even though the restaurant was exceptionally crowded and the space not large, the acoustics were very forgiving. Not too loud, just lively. Would definitely recommended Francesca's on Taylor.

I live not too far from Francesca's on Taylor, and go there frequently. It is dependable-- good food, good service, not too expensive. You always can count on what you're going to get. Like many Italian restaurants, I find the pasta entree portions too big. They are always good, just twice as much as I need. However, there are other dishes that are equally good but less daunting.

I ordered the rigatoni with sausage. I expected some really good Chicago-style Italian sausage. The food came and after looking at the sauce, I imagined they must have minced the sausage into it. I ate a sufficient amount of the pasta (which was not that great) to reach the bottom of the bowl and realized there was no sausage. After telling the waiter he said I should have told him. Problem was, food was delivered by someone else and waiter never checked on us again until we were done. Coincidentally, a similar thing happened to a diner seated near us. To their credit, they did not charge me for my dish...but this is not exactly a convenient location or a great neighborhood, and catching a cab after dinner was ridiculous. Don't bother.

Francesca's is our "go to" restuarant for a relaxing Friday evening meal. The menu changes every week, so never the same choices, and service typically is tremendous, as is the food. This time service was an issue, apparently a back up in the kitchen led to an unseemingly long wait for our main course. Despite using the time well to catch up with my wife and enjoy one extra cocktail, we did wonder what had happened to our order. Alas, the main course finally arrived as did the manager with apologies for the mix up. He clearly was apologetic for the long wait as was our waitress. Still a favorite of ours so we will be back and hope the slip up was an isolated incidence.

For years, Francesca's delivers and never disappoints. Superb preparation of every plate. The heirloom tomato salad - divine. Lasagne was excellent. Fish is always prepared particularly well. Wine glasses tend to be on the smaller side compared to other restaurants but I'm not complaining. The food is terrific.

The bread pudding dessert was the best part of the meal. I had the Prosciouto to begin and my guest the Carpaccio - both were no more than what could be expected basically. The steak entrees were luke warm and were lacking any color covered in this grey brown gravy, which had no particular flavor. My guest does not like artichochoke, which, as it was recommended by the server, we did not realize was a major component. Poor value for money and disappointing.

My husband and I were in town for a wedding and decided to meet up with a couple of friends we had not seen for several years. We searched Open Table and found Francesca's. We are so glad we did! They have a small, but delightful menu. We selected three different entrees and each one was impeccable! The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. They also offer valet parking which is great since street parking is difficult to find. Finally, the service was great. Highly recommended!

Francesca's is very accommodating to special dietary needs and very willing to work with the customer to please. I recommend the fish, appetizers, salads, individual sized pizzas, the house made sorbets and gelato, the tarts. Special requests are satisfied if they have the ingredients. The bread and olive oil are delicious. The excellent cocktail and beer offerings are reasonably priced, as are all items on the menu. Everything is very fresh and changes with the market. Daily specials for lunch and dinner! Valet and street parking. I highly recommend Francesca's!

I don't often get to Little Italy but the choices there are abundant and I prefer Francesca's for their Calamari Salad, which wasn't even on the menu but they made me one anyway. Once I went to Francesca's Intimo hoping to have a veal dish, but there wasn't one on the menu. The waitress said the chef usually had some veal and she would check. Sure enough the chef made me a special veal dish and it was outstanding. That's going beyond the call of duty. If there is a Francesca's near by it should be your first choice.

    Disappointed
    Dined on 8/11/2014
We have been frequent customers of Francescas on Taylor for many years and always impressed with the quality of the food. The pasta dishes and pizza were fine. But the dish presente on the menu as Veal Scallopine was not what any other restaurant calls scallopine, and even more serious, was poor quality. In a restaurant where veal chops of Provini veal were often served (of quality comparable to the best I have had in Paris or Firenze), this was a great disappointment. Since prices have declined in the restaurant a bit, while prices in other restaurants have increased, I imagine that financial pressure produced this compromise of standards. Let's hope I was wrong.

I am always happy with the food at Francesca's - and I was this time also. My entree was good - but the pasta special my friend ordered was wonderful! I felt a little rushed by our server during the whole meal - we were there about 90 min. The restaurant was full but there were always empty tables so I didn't think we were causing a problem but he clearly wanted us to move quickly through our dinner even though he said "no rush". I understand the trend toward really long dinners but hopefully this is not going to be the new normal.

This was my first time here. Party of two. We both had the chicken cavetti. It was delicious! Only down was our busboy asked if we were finished. We both said yes but each had about half a plate left (huge portions!!!) that we had already started talking about having for lunch tomorrow. Without being offered boxes, he took our plates to the back. We assumed he was boxing them for us. It wasn't until we saw him come back from the kitchen a few minutes later without our food that we realized it was thrown away. We were on our way to a show so we didn't want to waste time addressing it. I'll definitely be back...and next time I'll know to ask for a box! Such a shame to waste such delicious food!!

I met my friend at Francesca's on Taylor for an early dinner on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant offered valet parking, but there was plenty of street parking. At 4:30, only a few tables were occupied. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, which was ideal since my friend and I had a lot of catching up to do. Our server was cordial and patient. As we pored over the menu, he delivered a basket of warm bread to our table. I started with the string bean, tomato, and onion salad. The green beans were crisp and refreshing. For my entree, I ordered the ravioli tartufati. As soon as the garlic parmesan cream sauce touched my lips, I imagined that this was the type of meal upon which Italian angels feasted. I savored every mouthful!

I am sometimes, often, disappointed by Italian restaurants. Sometimes I find the good to be what I could make at home. It says home made or just like home and that's what it is. But what we had here was excellent. Not too fancy schmancy trying to make new stuff, but just great food. I had rigatoni wit pot roast (tomato sauce). It was soooooo good I keep thinking about it. A nice good size portion, but I finished it all. Everyone needs to get this dish. I don't write reviews usually, but maybe I will start now as a result. I may not have the words of a restaurant reviewer, but I guarantee if they had this dish, they would say some great stuff about it. This is a good place.
