A word from Francesca's on Taylor
Francesca's on Taylor features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Chicago Magazine notes, "It brings a new kind of abbondanza to an old Italian neighborhood." It is the fourth restaurant opened by Chef Scott Harris, whose philosophy is to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, good, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices. Anne Spiselman of Crain's Chicago Business observes: "A rolled-mesh ceiling, warm woods and geometric light fixtures give the room a rather clubby look, brightened during the day by light coming through the windows facing the street. And, Francesca's on Taylor takes reservations. "No, it does more; it honors reservations. Twice I made reservations, twice I walked into a packed dining room, and twice I was seated within 10 minutes," notes respected Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel who claims this to be his favorite Francesca restaurant.Continued

  • "We've been to many of the other Francesca locations. Never to this one. It was very enjoyable. We liked it! It was clean; the server was nice. The food was yummy. We had a bar table near the window, which gave us some privacy and quiteness. Overall, a very nice evening!"

  • "My wife and I spent a lovely evening in this charming restaurant. Located in Little Italy, a great corner location. Food was outstanding--although if you are a light eater , as we both are, be careful, the portions are quite generous. Service was great, friendly, and they were accommodating in pacing the service to our satisfaction. We would be glad to go again."

  • "The service was outstanding. The food was very good I had chicken in a white wine sauce with lots of grilled veggies. There were eight in my party and everyone ordered something different. The owner came to our table and thanked us for coming. I would recommended this restaurant to others. We were not rushed to complete our meal and the owner said we could stay as long as we wanted to. Our party has already selected a date to comeback."

  • "I had yet another lovely evening at Francesca's on Taylor. My server paid the right amount of attention to us and my pasta was perfect. I wish there were more less expensive wines on the wine list, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."

Will definitely be back.....this is a neighborhood secret away from the hustle and bustle of downtown....Loved Taylor St and Francesca's!!!"

  • "Francesca's on Taylor is among our favorite restuarants in Little Italy and elsewhere. After a busy week, we can always rely on Francesca's for a great selection of entrees and specials, wonderful friendly service from the wait staff and a dining room where where my wife and I can actually hear one another talk over the background noise and not feel as though we are eating in the lap of the table next to us. Always a relaxing, enjoyable restuarant with great food, service and atmosphere to share an evening with friends and family. Never gets old or dated."

  • "I usually eat at the Francescas on Bryn Mawr and had discovered a dish that I enjoy. I ordered that entre at the Taylor street restaurant and was very dissappointed. The pasta had clumps and shrimp overcooked. I nearly choked and was fearful that I would not be able to dislodge the clump in my chest. After that episode I pushed a barely eatened dish away. My friend ordered the same dish too and couldn't eat. I was embarrased. I've had good food at the Taylor Street restaurant in the past. I guess I picked the wrong item on the menu that night."

  • "We are big fans of then Francesca chain and this was our first visit to the Taylor Street location. Everything was great, from the attentive valet, the smiling hostess who hung our coats, and our server Sam was polite experienced and very attentive. Really enjoyed ourselves and will always choose a Francesca restaurant whenever we have the chance"

  • "Were visiting Chicago to tour colleges. Chose Francesca based on reviews & location. Used valet parking (paying for valet parking is not common on Long Island where we are from) because the streets were packed with snow & ice. Host greeted us in a most friendly way discussing the NY sports team jacket I was wearing. Upon being seated, service was outstanding, but more important, so was the food. Had carpaccio appetizer that was superb. My main dish was Mahi Mahi in a delicious wine sauce with mushrooms, onions, and peppers. Rest of our party had gnocchi that was so good they wished they could take the unfinished portions w/us, but we were staying at a hotel. Excellent wine list, reasonably priced also. Will return if ever in Chicago again."

  • "I went there this past Valentines and the service was understandably a bit slower because there was a line of the door and every table was filled. Food came out quickly and tasted amazing. Had a great time."

  • "I went to Francesca's on a Saturday afternoon and the place was very nice to look at. Seats were comfortable and all though our table for 2 was small, the plates were the right size for us to enjoy the space and not feel crammed how many restaurants do. The food was just delicious, our date and I wanted to get more food but were just too full. It wasn't expensive at all for what we received. Definitely going back. The only problem was that a few couples came with their babies and that was a small hinder on the date but since it wasn't the evening I can understand."

  • "We love everything about Francesca's - the attentive, unobtrusive, knowledgeable service, the flavorful fresh light emphasis on high-quality Italian food, fresh fish multiple options, sandwiches with either salad or fries without an up charge, fresh simple salads, daily risotto special, numerous meat options, daily dessert options, house made gelati and sorbetti, and the beautiful decor. I highly recommend Francesca's on Taylor for either lunch or dinner. They also have a back room area for private parties and a vibrant lounge scene. The price point is very reasonable for the service and food received."

  • "Had an early Valentines Day reservation (5:15). Couldn't have had a better experience. Great bar menu and craft cocktail list. Steak cooked to perfection. Wife ordered off menu and despite the crowd, chef had no problem making her exactly what she was craving. All around great night."

  • "We arrived 15 minutes early and were told they were 30 minutes or so behind there was bout 16 people waiting before us to be seated they clearly over booked that night after waiting 30 minutes host says its gonna be around 30 more minutes we just paid valet and headed over to pompei .we wont be returning on valentines day let alone any day after they ruined a special day."

  • "We have been enjoying Francesca's on Taylor for many years. We usually go twice a year, usually a group of 4-10. We love the quiet atmosphere; it's full and lively but you never have to shout to be heard, The food is consistently yummy, over 20 years and I have always loved what I ordered. The menu is just right, and they seem to change it all the time so the selection is fresh and new. They know not to mess with their bruschetta which is the best anywhere because they know how important it is for the tomato topping to be nicely chilled. Their tiramisu is simply the best anywhere. The staff at Francesca's is consistently warm and helpful, always able to squeeze in an extra person, you never are made to feel rushed. A gem !"
