They accommodated (mobility problems - walking with a cane)for us with a table that didn't require much walking and had extra room. We were there on a day the sun shone in our eyes, but we could easily get out of the way as the beam was very narrow. Best table!! The prosciutto was much appreciated by the Italians in our group. The fried calamari with a generous serving of spaghetti sauce was delightful. A split pork tenderloin was still a generous serving for a senior couple. When the very nice Chianti we wanted wasn't available, they subbed one that seemed even better.

My wife and I ate here on a Friday night. It is a trendy, vibrant, somewhat noisy, Italian restaurant just east of the Prudential building. Our server was reasonably prompt; the bussers were amazingly efficient. I very much enjoyed my pasta, which came as a very large portion. It was delicious. Remarkably disappointing was my wife's Margarita pizza. The toppings were sparse but certainly fresh. But it is difficult to describe the disappointing crust. It was almost tasteless, hard and bread-like; my wife described it as unsweetened shortbread. I might return for the pasta, but would personally never order the pizza again.

With so many great restuarants in Chicago, chose Francesca's for our one free evening because it was highly recommended by a friend. Experience was disappointing at best. Menu is limited (don't look for Italian classics). Pasta was gluey. Veal was burnt (I'm talking char). We were rushed as if the goal was to turn tables as many times as possible. With inedible entrees we tried desert, which tasted like IHOP blueberry pancakes (great for breakfast, but seriously?). Meal was so bad my companion went back to the hotel and ordered French Fries.

Not the best experience at Francesca's on Chestnut Saturday night. I took my seven year old daughter as part of our annual weekend out together because until Saturday night, this was one of her favorite restaurants. Food was not good, sauce tasted out of a jar and despite ordering meals with different sauces, appeared they used the same for my daugter and I. Waiter was inattentive at best, not sure if it was due to a likely small check (one adult, one child) and not helpful when I inquired as to whether I had received the correct meal (he was a bit defensive). Sad to say, we will not be back. Very disappointed with the entire experience.

This is my 2nd time at this restaurant, and I don't recall the noise level being so LOUD. A table of 4, we were shouting at each other to carry on a conversation. Add on top of that Live Music (which is a great touch but goes unappreciated as people just talk louder.) The food was delicious, but if you are looking to have a nice low key dinner with friends in the Streeterville neighborhood, this is NOT the place to go.

What could have been great the finale to a beautiful day in downtown Chicago turned into more like school night at Applebee's. we had a reservation and arrived early evening but were seated in the back of the restaurant by a group of 10 teenage girls having a birthday party. We had an inattentive server and it was too loud for a casual conversation. Waited 45 minutes for food to be served. Pasta was cool, but good. Had to ask for desert menu. Wine had a nat or piece of cork floating in it. Waiter was put out when I asked for a new glass. Nothing exceptional at Franchesca's on Chestnut.

After reading many reviews from other diners and online articles, we really expected the best. The food we received was different than what was described on the menu. We ordered Farfalle Vodka and Salmon, instead we received shell pasta in what looked like a white cream sauce and salmon. my guest had also ordered the same thing and was also very disappointed. Service was sub-par. Not great, not bad, but definitely forgettable. I may return if I don't feel like waiting for 2 hours at another restaurant on Michigan Ave. It is an easy place to go if you are need of a relaxed place when you have kids with you.

Excellent and extremely well priced for the fantastic food and ambience. During a recent visit with friends to experience Chicago, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. A definite must do. It was great to see that the diners knew the small 3 piece band that was playing. They all waved upon arrival so were obviously regulars. We have been to other Francesca's and always enjoyed the food. This spot is no exception. Great location for visitors as well as locals. The pizza with the egg broken table side is delicious, but for 2 people it is a lot of food if you want to have a main course too. We had the risotto and the tagliatelle with chicken and broccoli, both were very good. I'm not a Gorgonzola fan, so the kitchen prepared my risotto with goat cheese instead. Very accommodating! Don't miss dessert!! Beware the large groups; a party of 12 ruined our quiet window table for 2 and also made service more challenging.

Great location not far from busy N. Michigan Avenue, towards the lake, in a quiet neighborhood. Very friendly staff and excellent service. Nice atmosphere and very good food at reasonable prices for the area. It is loud. Our group of 9 were in the back on the lower level; could barely hear the live music up front, and it was not easy to have conversations. Might be quieter on the upper level.

We've been to Francesca's three times now. First time was at Bryn Mawr and twice now at Chestnut. The first two experiences were great. Good food and service. This latest trip however was disappointing. The menu is very limited and it changes all the time. This time we were unimpressed with the selection. The food was only okay (they really skimped on the pasta sauce) and the service was lacking. Francesca's was shaping up to be our new go-to Italian place, but now we have our doubts.

In a sea of wonderful Chicago restaurants, Francesca might have stayed in my personal obscurity had I not ventured out from the Ritz early one morning and ambled past it. The delicate lettering caught my eye, and its location intrigued. In the heart of one of my favorite Chicago micro-spots, Francesca's is just off Michigan Avenue, north of the Water Tower, and between the Drake and the John Hancock Building. Francesca offers intimate dining areas and a staff with an uncomplicated willingness to please. The menu seems to vary often, and the wine menu is basic without sacrificing selection. I enjoyed the halibut with crab, red and green peppers, and mushrooms. It was complemented nicely by a bottle of Valpolicella Ripasso.
