Excellent and interesting menu. I chose vegetarian entrees, and the ingredients were superb. Each dish was very carefully prepared. They were happy to honor special requests, and it turned out to be one of the best meals I've ever had. The flavors were amazing; each bite is to be savored.

Francesca's always delivers a great experience. For a romantic dinner, dinner with a group of friends or a business dinner, it is a perfect place to dine. The food, service and ambiance are at a high level and very consistent, a rarity in Chicago. It may not satisfy those who need a trendy place, but if you want substance over hype, chose this restaurant.

Brilliant staff, super food, very pleasant environment. A tiny bit noisy early on but as the evening lengthened it got quieter. My group was very impressed by how the staff didn't evict us even though we were the only ones left (intense conversation). This is a great place to bring a group, have an excellent meal, and be smoothly looked after the entire time. The service is amazingly efficient without being intrusive or obsequious.

I was dining by myself and wanted a nice meal with some atmosphere. It was all that and more! I ate early so no problem getting a table. They greeted me right away as I came in doe and my waiter was wonderful. I asked for a red sauce with my pasta - different from menu and no problem. I would go back tomorrow if I was in Chicago.

Atmosphere above average. Food good but spicy. Even after a request to tone down the heat, it was still too hot for our tastes. Service was fair at best. We had to request someone take our drink order, the waiter forgot two subsequent requests and we seemed to wait a long time between courses. The only efficient server was the bus boy filling our water.

My husband and myself had dinner here on sweetest day. We asked for a table near the window we were told "no". They wanted to seat us right in the traffic pattern we said "no". My porkchop was dried out, had to ask for butter, more bread, and doggie bags. It was not busy when we got there but by the time we left it was packed. We have eaten at this restaurant before, with a better experience then. We have also eaten at numerous locations of this chain always pleased before. We even had our wedding reception in lagrange all great experiences.

The food was very good. Felt VERY rushed. We were at our table for 45 minutes. Start to finish............ That really wrecked the experience. Went to the bar afterwards and the bartenders were very crabby. We had a GREAT experience at Bistronomic on Wabash the next night. Walked in with no reservation. They were thrilled that we would eat at the bar. A very busy bartender was a great host. Made the evening. Food was very good.

I haven't been to Francescas in a very long time--it's too crowded and noisy for me on weekends, but i went on a week day nite for a change -- which was far less crowded and much quieter....i was able to talk to my partner without yelling.... i also found something different and delightful on the menu....shortribs, which were prepared skillfully with a wonderful sauce, although i did change the accompanying starch from pollenta to roasted potatoes because I'm not big on pollenta... and they were happy to do it for me. As always, i ordered my favorite dessert, hot apple crostada with vanilla ice cream -- which was sensational, as usual. They also shared a salad for us ---extremely amply....and it was good as well.

They accommodated (mobility problems - walking with a cane)for us with a table that didn't require much walking and had extra room. We were there on a day the sun shone in our eyes, but we could easily get out of the way as the beam was very narrow. Best table!! The prosciutto was much appreciated by the Italians in our group. The fried calamari with a generous serving of spaghetti sauce was delightful. A split pork tenderloin was still a generous serving for a senior couple. When the very nice Chianti we wanted wasn't available, they subbed one that seemed even better.

My wife and I ate here on a Friday night. It is a trendy, vibrant, somewhat noisy, Italian restaurant just east of the Prudential building. Our server was reasonably prompt; the bussers were amazingly efficient. I very much enjoyed my pasta, which came as a very large portion. It was delicious. Remarkably disappointing was my wife's Margarita pizza. The toppings were sparse but certainly fresh. But it is difficult to describe the disappointing crust. It was almost tasteless, hard and bread-like; my wife described it as unsweetened shortbread. I might return for the pasta, but would personally never order the pizza again.

With so many great restuarants in Chicago, chose Francesca's for our one free evening because it was highly recommended by a friend. Experience was disappointing at best. Menu is limited (don't look for Italian classics). Pasta was gluey. Veal was burnt (I'm talking char). We were rushed as if the goal was to turn tables as many times as possible. With inedible entrees we tried desert, which tasted like IHOP blueberry pancakes (great for breakfast, but seriously?). Meal was so bad my companion went back to the hotel and ordered French Fries.

Not the best experience at Francesca's on Chestnut Saturday night. I took my seven year old daughter as part of our annual weekend out together because until Saturday night, this was one of her favorite restaurants. Food was not good, sauce tasted out of a jar and despite ordering meals with different sauces, appeared they used the same for my daugter and I. Waiter was inattentive at best, not sure if it was due to a likely small check (one adult, one child) and not helpful when I inquired as to whether I had received the correct meal (he was a bit defensive). Sad to say, we will not be back. Very disappointed with the entire experience.
