A word from Francesca's Bryn Mawr
Francesca’s Bryn Mawr is the 8th restaurant in "The Family of Francesca Restaurants". The original partners of Mia Francesca, Scott Harris, Michael Noone and Terry Alexander have reunited to bring the Edgewater neighborhood a restaurant with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, good, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices. The menu features the zesty earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio.

Located in the Historic District on Bryn Mawr, the building was built in 1927 as the Bryn Mawr Apartment Hotel. It contained 231 one, two and three room luxuriously furnished apartments. The building also included nine stores along the entire Bryn Mawr Avenue front. The building underwent a complete restoration in 1999.

It is the perfect place for groups to get together! You can order off the menu (for parties up to 16) or let our Party Planner help you with a special event.

  • "You can't go wrong at Francisca's. The menu changes often, the specials are outstanding and the freshness and quality of each dish is readily apparent. Excellent value as well. We have eaten here time and again and never been disappointed."

  • "The daily pizza, special salad & gnocchi (1/2 orders or full) were tasty. Friendly service. Easy to talk. Nice for casual yet relaxed dinner."

  • "If you're a foodie (and I admit to it), Francesca's Bryn Mawr is the sort of restaurant you come home to when you're tired of traveling to far corners of the city to try the latest menu items. At Francesca's, the Italian menu is always just fresh enough, just inventive enough to keep things interesting, without actually challenging the diner. And that's a good thing. Relax. Anything you order will be good. Francesca's has a way with fish and seafood, so those items are likely your best choices (don't miss the calamari fritti, one of the best in the city). If you want to share a dish, just tell your server—it will arrive on two plates. It's a great way to try more of the menu while keeping the calories and the bill down. Highly recommended"

  • "If you have a taste for Italian food, Francesca's Bryn Mawr should be on your list They have a great selection of appetizers, main course dishes, and deserts. The carpaccio is great. I had a tilapia dish for my main course. It was tender and flavorful. I didn't have a dessert. Francesca's has various specials throughout t the week. I look forward to checking them out in the future."

  • "I love Francesca's for dinner when I'm craving Italian or their tasty carpaccio platter. Who knew their brunch was so delicious as well?! I got a perfectly cooked Eggs Benedict with Prosciutto and crispy risotto cakes in place of english muffins. My dining partners enjoyed a salmon sandwich and Eggs Sardou with yummy artichoke hearts. Each dish was less than $11 so we had to get a plate of pancakes for the table as well. I can't wait to go back."

  • "I love going to Francescas's on Bryn Mawr, the noise level is good if you want to have a conversation and they do not push you to leave fast after you have eaten. The service is friendly. The food is always good and they change the menu often. One of my favorite spots in town"

  • "Best carpaccio in the city - and I've had a lot of carpaccio!"

  • "With all the Italian restaurants in Chicago, Francesca's is slipping in quality. The good was ok, not great."

  • "We had a great birthday celebration here. Through "Open Table" we requested a booth, and got the best one in the house, semi private but still close enough to the bar to see the other guests and diners."

  • "It is a neighborhood gem, that's for sure. The restaurant has a great corner location, the decor is lovely and tasteful...and the food! Oh, the food is just to die for. The brunch menu is delightful -- the amaretto-soaked french toast is the best thing I've eaten in a long time!!! Once it's warm again, I am looking forward to enjoying their outdoor seating."

  • "Very good food with outstanding service. Ambience better than other Francesca locations that I have visited. Great cocktails and a good solid wine list. Very pleasant experience."

  • "Food was tasty like Olive Garden. Nothing special. Portions small."

  • "Mixed Review... Food was great but felt the waiter purposely overcharged our bill by ringing up a different Cabernet that was more expensive. No apologies.. Watch out for Ray and check your bill twice.. we will return but will make sure we get a different server because as we said, the food was definitely outstanding!"

  • "Delicious and ever changing menu. I had salmon and my husband had risotto. Both were very well prepared and quite enjoyable! Wines were fantastic as was the lemon pound cake. Great server tonight but not all are as attentive and friendly as this one was..... We are frequent diners there. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Our server was totally awesome. Very energetic and enthusiastic without being annoying. Made sure that everyone's needs at the table were met in a timely manner. Food arrived in good time - was freshly prepared, well seasoned, and tasty. Small menu, the server was open to having proteins prepared in a different way. Valet after 5 which is a consideration for us."

  • "Attended restaurant week at this location. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and a four-course meal for $33? We had to bring half the food home to enjoy again the next day. I wish I could go back before the week was over, it was great."

  • "We were happy to get into Francesca's for NYE and to get the standard menu without any extra event pricing. The food was excellent as always (the lobster ravioli and special insalata mista were exceptional) and our server this time around was truly outstanding. This is a favorite of ours and we return often and the food and service are why."

  • "I come here all the time and had a horrible time with Claudia on a prior occasion. I thought I would give it another go with her and still the same result. IF we ever saw her she seemed annoyed at our requests and I had to ask three time for fresh parmesan and she get bringing out the canned stuff. Finally- one of the water boys were nice enough to get us some. Rarely was she even in "her" section. I love this place and I love there food but I will be very clear next time that I do not want to be in her section."

  • "Food and service are consistent. While there is nothing spectacular here, you'll find good quality food at a reasonable price. Service has always been attentive."

  • "Christmas eve treat since we were having guests over on Christmas. We knew it was Christmas eve, so we made our reservation on the earlier side, 645pm. We both used to be waiters so were considerate of the staff. Getting greeted took 10 min, drinks another 10+, We noted that the waiter did get seated many tables at once so we understood the delays and we were NOT in a hurry. Our entrees came out to the table, not once but TWICE before we were even partially done with our app! It extremely rushed and the food runner looked at us like we should move our apps to the side (very small table) so he could set them down the 2nd time. we wanted to also give our waiter time to get wine for our main course. we passed on dessert since we felt rushed"

  • "The food was great. The wait staff was attentive and friendly and were very helpful about answering questions I had about menu items. The waiter even offered to help me change a sauce on the pasta I wanted so that I could eat it instead of ordering something else. I thought that was both a great anticipation of my needs and very accommodating. I had many leftovers for my dinner the next day, and wish I could have stayed for dessert but we had to run for the theater."

  • "As always, the staff at Francesca's Bryn Mawr makes your visit enjoyable. Festive holiday cheer, and amazing servers made our " Christmas dinner " with my partner & I so memorable. Thanks for a wonderful evening !"

  • "Our group of women, who used to neighbors in the LBRC area, meet once a month at this marvelous restaurant. The food is so good and ranges from soup, salads, pastas and pizza etc. In other words there is something for everyone to eat here and we take a table in the back that starts with 6 places and can be expanded to 12 so no matter what size our group is that month it is always the right size. Everyone makes us feel so welcome and the waiters are lovely."

  • "Food was perfect, waitstaff exceptional, only downside was finding parking"

  • "Francesca's was laughable. Many things went wrong - it was ridiculous. Food was barely room temperature when it arrived. AND my friend's entree was all wrong - deconstructed, with vegetables in a separate dish and the balsamic sauce in the side - my friend had NOT requested this. Ryan probably thought he was being sympathetic and helpful, but he had the same stupid grin plastered on his face during the entire 3 hours we were dining. It took too long to get our waiter to come to our table to take our cold food away. When we said our wine was planned for dinner and now it was going to run out, he said there was more of it to buy - and smiled. The food was just reheated and it looked horrible. We ate it because we were hungry."

  • "Consistent up and down the menu. Many dishes of gourmet stature. Specials in particular will delight the palate. Service attentive and knowledgeable. A much appreciated value menu compared against the city's popular Italian restaurants."

  • "We go to Francesca's fairly often. The food is good and the prices are fair. We go for weekend brunch and dinners. The brunches have a slightly different menu from usual brunch fare but it's always delicious and interesting. At dinner the diiferent fish offerings are always good and the pasta is delicious and generously portioned. Consistently good."
