  • Public Transit: The #22 Bus drops you at Dickens & Clark leaving you a short two block walk west on Dickens to Four Farthings. There is also a buss which runs on Lincoln Avenue. The closest train stop would be at Armitage & Sheffield leaving you a 20 min walk.
  • Parking: Valet
  • Parking Details: Free street parking is available on Lincoln Avenue or the side streets prior to 6 pm. If you have a zone 143 sticker, side street parking is available 24/7. We offer valet service if neither of those options are available.

Welcome to Four Farthings Restaurant & Tavern! For more than 28 years. The Lincoln Park locals have known where to come for delicious food at reasonable prices! Steaks, fish, seafood, Italian, burgers, ribs or even our famous grilled chicken wings are sure to satisfy the most discerning taste buds!
Four Farthings was established as a small tavern in 1963 by the former Playboy Bunny Sue Gin. Bill and John Nordhem purchased the business in 1981 and added the dining area and kitchen in 1983 making Four Farthings what it is today. The Nordhems passed the torch to your current owners Dr. Dan Gabrielson and John Corry in 2010 and the proud tradition of Four Farthings lives on. Dan and John have breathed some new life into an old favorite adding 12 new flat screen TVs, new bar stools Menu upgrades and new faces adding to the regular crowd.   • "I found Four Farthings on Yelp while visiting Chicago for a convention. They hyped reviews did not lie. From cocktails to dessert, my dinner was awesome. They offered a lot of specials and my table indulged in several. We had a delicious baked brie appetizer, I had fall off the bones ribs and my friend had a steak that was amazing. We finished with a piece of coconut lemon cake. Yum! I would definitely recommend this little gem of a restaurant. Our food was great and the service was top-notch."

The food was cooked well if a bit bland and underwhelming. The bill was just over what it felt the dinner warranted. With a cheaper price tag and a bit more flavor, this might be a great neighborhood gem ... but not yet."

It has often been my 'go to' place when I'm introducing my out of town or new to Chicago friends to a great 'local' place. The restaurant is very classic and the food is consistently good. There's a wall between the restaurant and the bar, which is a great local hang out for sports fans - so the restaurant is nicely quiet though bustling. Love the lamb chop appetizer/small plate -- just enough if you're not starving! Brunch outside in the summer is so lovely! Have enjoyed many a meal here since that first one in 2003!! PS - the owner is very responsive so if you find fault with anything - don't hesitate to bring it to his attention!!"

  • "Attentive service, employees went extra mile to get wheelchair in. Need to make wheelchair accessible with ramp. Entrees very good, sirloin was quite good, perfectly cooked, not too rare, not overcooked, with good flavor. Menu was extensive. lots of seafood choices. Bread was good with delicious sweet butter, but they ran out of bread. Desserts really disappointed --apple pie was soggy , crust wet, filling more like apples with bread filler--second visit where I mistakenly ordered this. Cheesecake portion was skimpy. Cozy, pleasant atmosphere with twinkling white lights, dark wood, but extremely noisy, couldn't hear others at table. Really like this place and will come back."

  • "Called to reserve a table in the bar, bartender said they didn't reserve tables in the bar. Went there later that night, had to squeeze 5 people at a 2 person table. A large table opened up, we decided to move over to it. While we were moving over to it, management came over and said the table was "RESERVED" Later that evening, that party had finished their meal and left the bar. We tried taking that table again and the workers stopped us again with the "RESERVED" table. Not sure what is going on here, but I do not appreciate being lied to. The bar tender changed the TV to a game I requested, but 20 minutes later "forgot" and changed it to another game. Waitress was extremely slow with service, and seemed to ignore the table at times."

The waiter, (Joseph?) handled everyone and everything perfectly, making a good experience, exceptional. The prices are reasonable. Most importantly, we needed to eat early because of an early theater time, and they were able to seat us for dinner at 4:30. 5:00 would have cut it too close for us. We will definitely be back."

  • "Was seeking a neighborhood type establishment with a somewhat varied menu for my daughter's birthday dinner. Food was very good and Antonio provided ample service without be obtrusive. Eating outside was fun as this was in a area with lots of people strolling through a small park across the street. As my wife and I live in Milwaukee, we found this to be a fun place that we will come back to when visiting our daughter and her boyfriend."
