We visited this restaurant before going to attend a theater show. Overall it was a decent restaurant, but not one that I am necessarily eager to return to. The food was good, although a bit over-seasoned--again nothing remarkable. I would have appreciated a broader menu. The service does need some improvement. Although it was nearly empty, our waitress seemed half asleep. The drink menu was good, but the waitress managed to bring my wife the wrong drink, then rather than replace it just tried to fix the drink at the table rather than replace it. The location is good, with a view of the fountain. If I was local and convenient it might be worthwhile for lunch, and I didn't DISlike it, but otherwise it does nothing to draw me back.

A friend and I were there for restaurant week and had a delicious meal. The salmon was some of the best I've had. We order a bottle of wine but they were out so they gave us another one at the price of our first choice which was cheaper. All and all it was a great experience. i will go there again.

We went to Fountain Bistro for Restaurant Week and were pleasantly surprised at what nice atmosphere they had, especially being right in the center of a traffic circle. The food was quite good and our server was very attentive. What I liked most was that this restaurant served the correct portion sizes so that we were not over stuffed by the time dessert came. I will definitely go back.

I choose this restaurant for restaurant week and was not disappointed! I came with my mom and sister and we decided to each get something different so that we could try as many dishes as possible. We each had a different first course and they were all delicious! For the second courses, we were a little bit disappointed with the pasta. It was bland and the smoked flavor was off-putting. However, the lamb and the chicken were good. The best part, though, was the desserts! We ordered 2 crème brulées and an apple galette. All of the desserts were eaten completely. In fact, had I been at home, I would have licked the ramekin, the dessert was so good! Finally, our server, Tracy, was very friendly and informative.

Food was flavorful but very small in amount per plate. The overlying theme that defined our evening and ultimately earned a 2 star on this review is the service. Yes, prices where a bit high as well but all may have been forgiven if the service wasn't so shot. Reservations were at 8:30pm, we arrived at 8:15 and was seated... the WATER didn't come until 8:40 and that is being generous... We were there for 2 hours. Waiting for all three courses to finish.

My friends and I chose Fountain Bistro as one of the places we'd try for Restaurant Week, and we're very happy that we did. Everything from the food to the service was excellent. Our waiter (Matt, I believe) was funny, knowledgeable about their food as well as about other restaurants in Detroit (he asked us where else we were considering, talked, in-depth, about the restaurants we mentioned, and made recommendations about our choices), and simply made our meal a very memorable night. Between all of us, we had: Zucchini au Gratin, Herb Goat Cheese Salad, Pappardelle, Airline Chicken, Confit Lamb Breast, Apple Galette, and Chocolate Crème Brûlée. The Pappardelle needed something more to make the dish cohesive, but everything else was perfect.

The Fountain Bistro's Restaurant Week menu was imaginative and varied. I had a great salad, tenderloin and chocolate creme brûlée. My husband had delicious seafood chowder, duck confit and apple galette. Everything was soooo good! My husband also chose the wine pairings with each course and they were perfect, complementing the food and accentuating the wine.

I had no idea Campus Martius was so cool. I'm sure those in the city know, but coming from the suburbs I didn't even know this restaurant existed. I highly recommend it. If we can get more areas and businesses like this downtown, we could become cooler than Chicago (we have much more interesting architecture!)

Great atmosphere. We sat outside and were given great service and had some fantastic food. The menu was a little smaller than what Open Table had listed on the iphone app, but the food was still very good. Another plus, was that it is right by the water fountain and we had a great view of that and all the people walking around the fountain. The noise level was great, but there was a Saturday night movie night that started playing toward the end of our meal, but it was not too loud to ignore. This was a great restaurant and wasn't busy for a Saturday night at 8:30pm. We will be coming back.

Thought we would give it another try. I really want to like this place. Please improve your service!! Please! There are a few ladies outside busting their butts...inside it's awful. We watched the manager screw with the gelato machine for an hour and eat the last special (looked good). The bartender tried to do his job and wait on us since the waitstaff was primarily focused outside. We found the same problem a year ago in the winter... You've got a prime location. Secret shop yourself. Try a survey. Anything. It's just not up to the level of service you need for your entree price. Alternatively, cut your prices and serve bar food. I don't expect as much if I'm paying $8 for a sandwich.

Worst dining experience I've had in several years, specifically in the high-end segment. Restaurant was 10% full but service was slow and inattentive. Dishes arrived incomplete (e.g. our appetizer was missing components) and our 2nd round of drinks never arrived (they were charged on the final bill; waitress removed the charge when we pointed out she never served them). The food: We couldn't help laughing when the Bistro Burger arrived alone on its plate, set off to one side, making the lack of a side item painfully obvious. (Would have expected some handcut designer fries or amazing onions.) The burger was not impressive enough to garner the $16 price on its own. Our other entree, a pasta ($22), was gummy and stuck together like a brick.

My boyfriend and I were looking for brunch place on a Sunday afternoon and decided to try this place. It's in a great location in campus marsius right by the fountain, which was beautiful. Our waitress was nice but she kept forgetting our orders. And when one of my friends asked her what pancetta was just replied and said it was a type of lettuce...so no knowledge whatsoever of food! The food was mediocre at best. The only plus of this restaurant is the location

Attended the Somm Slam Monday night. First time at Fountain Bistro. Great atmosphere and location, helpful staff. However, I don't think the kitchen staff was prepared to serve 60 plated meals for four courses. Took way too long between courses. The event started at 6:30 and didn't end until just before 11:00. The wagyu beef was rare for everyone at our table and was pretty much inedible. The dessert course was inexcusable. A couple brownie wedges and and small square of jello all covered in pop rocks were called a dessert?! Floored by how bad that was. But the people we met at our table were fantastic and the wine pairing was delicious. Great concept...poor execution on the kitchen. I hope the next is better.
