Fountain Bistrogreat dinner in the inner sanctumgreat location, food and service. modern twist to a european approach of foodie-ism.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Mother's Day LunchThoroughly enjoyed the small size the views out of the windows to the gymnastic fountain. The three course brunch was exquisitely prepared and delightfully presented.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHelping out a ProcrastinatorI appreciated that fact that I was last minute making reservations for Mother's Day and this place was able to accomadate me. The staff was great, the food was beautiful and delicious and my mom was was definately happy, which makes me happy! Thanks!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly RecommendI have never felt so valued as a customer at a restaurant before. I felt like we were the most important table in the restaurant. Food was outstanding!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA special surprise in DetroitA wonderful surprise that exceeded expectations. Had a lovely dinner with my bride. Entrees were just perfect (filet and lamb) as were the appetizers (rolled eggplant and caesar salad. Service was among the best of any fine dining we have experienced in Detroit. Plenty of attention - but not too much. Watching the waiters, managers and bus folks conciously watching every table for any need and then fulfilling that need was fun. This little gem, which is in the center of things to do in Detroit is now on our must list! I am glad we got in and were able to enjoy this wonderful place.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI chose Fountain Bistro forI chose Fountain Bistro for our Anniversary dinner and was not disappointed. This quaint restaurant is a gem. The location is superb with all views offering a wonderful view of the city. The Fountain was a beautiful backdrop. The food was delightful. A simple, small menu so they do it right. There were a few mix ups with our food but our server Anthony did not miss a beat. He quickly corrected the issues. Anthony was friendly and personable. We had the pleasure of chatting with one of the owners about the history of the restaurant and their future plans. We are excited to return for a later dinner so that we can see the fountain lit up at night. Definitely a place to check out!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Fountain Bistro is inThe Fountain Bistro is in the same island as the skating rink at Campus Martius. Although it was not warm enough to dine outside, we noted the outdoor tables and thought it would be a fantastic spot for a leisurely late lunch or drink on a warm day. We were at the restaurant for Restaurant Week and were very impressed with the service and thought the food was very good with a nice pacing of the courses. There were 3 in our party and we all agreed we would return.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. Beautiful ambiance, right next to the campus martius fountain. Great for after work drinks or dinner with family. Food was out in a timely manner and dishes were all well-done. Apple gallette was very good.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI tried Fountain Bistro duringI tried Fountain Bistro during restaurant week and it was a wonderful choice. My friends and I really enjoyed our meals as well as the ambiance. So much so that one booked her mother's day brunch that evening and I plan to go back to sample their brunch offerings. The locale was lovely and the design of the restaurant was also very appealing. I would love to go back during the summer to take full advantage of the beautiful fountain. Their menu selection for restaurant week offered a nice array of choices so you got a good sampling of their dishes..and they were not gourmet portions. I would definitely recommend Fountain Bistro for your next special ocassion or night out on the town. Only drawback, they should offer valet parking.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful Restaurant, Great FoodFountain Bistro, once again, provided an excellent dining experience. Our group of 6 was greeted warmly by the maitre de. As we were escorted to our table he explained that it was "our table for the evening" so please take our time and enjoy our meal. Our waitperson Andrew was the best! He explained the preparation and ingredients of any items we had questions about and made excellent suggestions. Appetizers of warm goat cheese salad and eggplant Involtini were both praised. The entrees of rack of lamb, chicken breast and diver scallops were all delicious. When one of the lamb dishes was well done instead of medium rare, Andrew immediately insisted on making the order correct and removed it. A perfectly done rack was then brought.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFountain Bistro is a Gem on CampusHad never dined at Fountain Bistro and decided to check out during Detroit Restaurant Week. Very nice atmosphere and excellant service by our server, Norris. Norris answered all of our questions about menu and wine selections as well as offered suggestions on pairings. The appetizers, entrees, and deserts were very good and cooked to my request. Salmon Gravlax, Eggplant Involtini, Rack of Lamb, Cedar Plank Salmon, Apple Galette4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant was a surprisingThis restaurant was a surprising gem. I enjoyed the view of Downtown Detroit with the scenic view of people in the area. The restaurant is a focal point for the area. The meal was prepared perfectly and delicious. The wait staff was courteous and timely. The restaurant faired better than other restaurants that I visited during restaurant week.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was cooked perfectlyThe food was cooked perfectly and we are hard to please because I am such a great cook. I try to go to new restaurants during Detroit restaurant week and this restaurant was absolutely wonderful. Great view of the fountains and a light and airy feeling due to the floor to ceiling windows. We would highly recommend it. Not a large place but they did accommodate a group of 8-10.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very good experienceWe had a very good experience at Fountain Bistro. The food was well prepared and nicely presented. Our only issue was that we visited during Detroit Restaurant week and they seemed unprepared for the crowds. Our meal included desserts for the $30 price, but they ran out of desserts before we finished dinner so we did not get dessert as promised.
We definitely will return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat addition to Detroit.Great addition to Detroit. Overlooks the fountain, easy parking in the area. Lots of people around and an example of what Detroit needs to become. Lamb cops and beef medallions were great. Apple gallette for dessert was very tasty. Friendly, efficient service. A great deal for Restaurant Week.. Pricey for a regular meal but a very nice special occasion place. The owner came around to see if all wes well. In the summer they will have a sand area tiki bar and live music. Come on Detroit - this is the way to go.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCame back on Restaurant WeekCame back on Restaurant Week and we had a great dinner and experience. This is a real gem. Now if it just gets warmer so we can eat outside...4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMABSOLUTE new favorite!Excellent from start to finish...waiter Randy was exemplary.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA European Bistro in the DMy GF and I picked Fountain Bistro for Detroit Restaurant Week (4/19-4/28/13) based upon the interesting and appetizing menu. Most of the online photos were from Summer fun on the outside terrace tables with only a few inside. It is such an attractive and cute place may I suggest that you post more pics taken inside the restaurant.
Our waiter Anthony (wonderfully thick Italian accent) was knowledgeable of both food and wine selections (he developed the wine list) as he suggested a Napa Chardonnay I had never heard of but hit my palate perfectly and at a really decent price!
My Rack of Lamb was beautifully prepared and her Cedar Planked Salmon was equal or even better than what I grill at home! And mine is fabulous. Highly recommended.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were very impressed withWe were very impressed with the quality of the food and the presentation--interesting combinations and elegant service.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view with a nice atmosphere.Great view with a nice atmosphere. The food was was ok but not good enough for us to visit again.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall a good meal. Great service. We dined at Fountain Bistro during restaurant week; therefore a prix fixe menu. The menu had a great variety of apps & entrees. We had the goat salad and beef carpaccio. The salad was rather small, even for an appetizer, but good. The carpaccio was excellent. For entrees, we had the lamb chops & the salmon. Both were delicious. The desserts were just ok; the creme brulee, including the carmelized sugar, was cold. The apple galette was over cooked, chewy, and barely warm. The service was top notch. Overall, a good meal. My biggest complaint is that we had the worst table in the place. We were told that when you make a reservation online, the system picks the table. They wouldn't move us despite the rest of the place being empty -it was early4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our 6th RestaruantThis was our 6th Restaruant Week event and one of the best by-far. Both the food and service was excellent.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place. My fianceI love this place. My fiance and I stop by just about every Monday evening for a romantic night in one of the top fine-dining restaurants in Detroit. I can't recommend it strongly enough - especially with their newly upgraded menu! Chef Rob is doing some amazing things in the kitchen since coming on board a few months ago.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA High-Quality Bistro and Then SomeFountain Bistro offers a wide-selection of quality entrées and a solid wine list. Some of my favorite dishes include the salmon with French green beans, their warm goat cheese salad and their fried olives. Anthony is a wine and hot chocolate specialist and he delivers time and again. The specialty hot chocolate drinks make this a destination in winter and their location next to the Campus Martius fountain makes this an ideal destination in the summer. If you have a special occasion, just let Fountain Bistro know, and they can prepare a Chef's Tasting Dinner for you and your guests - an incredible six-course meal where you and the chef agree on what will be served.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant was quiet andThe restaurant was quiet and so the service was very good. There was apparently a problem with our meals and the chef decided to redo them without our ever seeing them - he came out himself and explained this. Food was very good. We will go back4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food. Service was a bitGood food. Service was a bit sloppy, every refill of our drinks ended with the waitstaff pouring some on the table. Took my cutlery after the appetizer and I had to remind them to replace it. The Bloody Mary I had at brunch was unimpressive and the Bloody Mary station was weak. The food part of the brunch was pretty good. The crab cakes benidict were particularly noteworthy.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fantastic...reasonablyFood was fantastic...reasonably priced, excellent selection. Entertainment on Easter Sunday was really super!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic for couplesWe went there for a brunch with my husband. We ate breakfast/brunch at almost all the restaurants in Detroit area. This place was far the best for us to treat ourselves a romantic brunch. The omelet was absolutely the best I've ever had. The waffle was also very delicious. The service was awesome. Our waiter refilled the coffee cups very frequently. We love the quiet and romantic atmosphere.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food - amazing serviceDelicious food - amazing service - outstanding wine selection. Will be returning again and again2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem in the heart of Detroit! From the start, the atmosphere, attention and placement of the restaurant (right next to Campus Martius) made this place a hit. Not only did we get great food, but being able to watch the skaters on the rink was amazing. And speaking of the food...amazing! After our order was taken, we were brought fresh bread (still warm from the oven) and olive oil/spices. The breads consisted of plain, sesame seed and olive that reminded me of ciabiotta. Next, we ordered an appetizer of mussels in a white wine/garlic/mustard sauce. Fantastic! Our entree was wild mushroom fettucini alfredo for myself and salmon with a sorrel sauce, fingerling potatoes and haricot vert. Absolutely to die for. Totally recommend!2/21/2013 12:00:00 AMwill impress a dateThe main reason I would go back is because it is a surface level a great spot to impress a date especially in the winter. Excellent location being next door to the outdoor ice rink and water fountain (be sure to request a table on that window). They were out of the first item I wanted so instead I got a daily special of prime rib. Good but not great. Presentation was slightly weak. I will go back mostly because of location. Service was on point.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
