The food is good and there is
ample variety, but ordinary. Everything was cooked as ordered. On a Tuesday evening after 8 PM one would expect more attentive service, especially when the restaurant is not full. Service was slow and food delivery was slow. We were able to have a relaxed conversation, which was fine. The place is lively and has an active crowd--a lot of regulars. Staff is cordial and accommodating."

Went for late lunch with 5 friends
on a Saturday in July .... the place was pretty much deserted, but pleasant enough. Our lunches were OK, not extraordinary, but the service was ridiculously slow and inattentive, with a couple of us getting our meals way before others. Maybe it was just an off day for the kitchen staff, but I wasn't impressed--especially since the place was so quiet! How hard is it to get 4 burgers and 2 pork belly sandwiches out to a table when that's about all you're having to cook?! I gave this a "Yes" to recommend to a friend, but with caveats about the service."

We tried two appetizers - both
were delicious - buffalo chicken balls and dates wrapped in bacon. Food and draft beers are very good."

We have never been disappointed
eating at The Foundry. The food is always good and the portions are more than ample. Each dish is appropriately seasoned and is never over-seasoned. Every choice on the menu is reliably good. The wait staff is friendly and very helpful. They provide prompt and attentive service."

Had a great time at Foundry!
Service was great, beer selection was superb, award-winning burger was deserving of the award! The only thing that could use improvement is the artisanal cheese platter."

After having visited Foundry
several previous times found the menu lacking in entree choices...we all had the signature burger which was very good, very juicy but delish."
Dined on 6/27/2014
Not your typical pub food, the
Foundry offers a nice diversity of dishes at fairly reasonable prices. Cocktails are well made and creative. This is one of my "go to" places in Davis Square."
Dined on 6/26/2014
We have gone to foundry a number
of times. We like the food and the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the last three times the service has left us annoyed. At lest twice I will accredit it to a server who either lacks the skills, or just doesn't care; we ordered desert bunted waiter forgot to bring them over. The third time may have been due to an overwhelmed staff; the drink I ordered after arriving didn't show up until after the meal arrived and it was impossible to fid anyone to flag down. It is sad, if not for the service I would call this place a must go to, instead I say, you'll love the food."

Have been going here since it
opened, and while the bar has remained top notch, the food and service have been noticeably on the decline. Went with a party of five early Sunday evening (5pm). Restaurant was empty, didn't order anything fancy (2 croque monsieur, 2 burgers and a salad) and were there almost an hour and a half. Once food arrived it was good, but nothing to write home about. Won't be eating here again anytime soon, but will definitely continue to come for the bar - drinks and variety are great."

It was our first time dining
there. We had a great time dining. The food was excellent. It's a great place to enjoy with friends."

My fiance & I chose Foundry for a
non-traditional "come as you can" kind of bachelor/bachelorette party. I made the reservation for 6 & for the most part that's the number of people we had, though at one point there was 8. When I made the reservations I noted that people would need separate checks. The nite was great- the food was tasty (I highly enjoy introducing people to the Foundry's poutine), the drinks stellar , and all of our party found something to eat & enjoy. The waiter, Mike, seemed professional though a bit scattered. Some drinks and food took a bit to arrive at the table but I chalked it it up to a busy nite and the special requests we were making. We'll be back to the Foundry but definitely with a smaller group next time."

It can be done well or
horrifically. Foundry on Elm makes a blueberry barbecue pork belly sandwich that will knock your socks off. "

This was my first time here.
Although my party of 4 had a reservation, the table was not ready when we arrived. However, we sat in the bar area, at a counter at the window, and were pleasantly surprised that there was a cocktail waitress who took our order so we didn't have to wait at the packed bar. When we finally got seated about a half hour later, our waiter was pleasant but not very attentive. One of our apps was wrong, which was not a problem as they brought the correct one out immediately. 3 out of 4 of us ordered burgers, which were perfectly cooked. The 4th ordered croque madame, which was also delicious. Overall, the food was great, the drinks were great, but the service left something to be desired. "

It was Tufts graduation day, but
that is no excuse for the terribly slow service and a waitress that seemed to be in another world. Not friendly, could care less. Food was just okay, 15 minutes to get a dessert? Come on.. 15 minute to get an app? Drinks that came out helter skelter, not together!! Waitress didn't check on us or advise us about the status of the food - why it was taking so long, etc. Been there twice, but doubt again. Efficiency and organization very lacking!"

This was a great place to meet
quietly and hear each other talk. Good selection of wines, good cocktails, good food - nothing really outstanding, and a little expensive for what it is, but I enjoyed it. Very nice location, and the interior is very classy and well laid-out. Service was a highlight: we didn't feel neglected or hovered-over, and after paying the bill we didn't get the feeling of being hurried along our way, making for a very relaxing and comfortable experience."
Dined on 5/14/2014
it was 6:00 pm, so NOT the busiest
dinner hour and that was reflected in the empty feel of the long, deep interior. The server and took our drink order promptly, which was nice. He also informed us that the meatloaf special for Monday nights was not available, and that there was only one dinner special. It was disappointing that a special online was not available once we arrived at the restaurant. We ordered a an appetizer plate that consisted of hummus, assorted other dips and pita chips. Very mediocre! The pita were soggy and limp. The next course was equally disappointing. The server then forgot the next round of drinks and had to be reminded. We couldn't get out of there fast enough"

We went for Mother's Day Brunch.
The brunch is a buffet, and there were plenty of options. Everything was fresh and delicious. It was quiet. The waiter didn't rush us at all. All in all, it was a very nice experience."
Dined on 5/11/2014
Everything was great, with the
exception of the service, which unfortunately affects everything. Our server was clearly very busy...too busy to attend to our table. We sat for long periods of time without ever seeing him, were served the wrong drinks and cold food, and he never even asked how any of the items were? Sorry Foundry, a terrible experience solely based on a terrible server. Training is everything! "
Dined on 5/3/2014
The food menu doesn't boast a ton
of options, but there's at least one of every type of dish you could want and they're all delicious! Extensive drink menu with lots of great beers. Restaurant is big and spacious - you can watch the game if you want but if you'd rather have a quiet meal with family that's an option too! Overall, a great find."

Go early if you are dating, want
to talk and not shout at friends. This is a Very popular spot with good food but poor acoustics, ie :ceiling noise problems, wood floor and wood tables. So there are no sound absorbing materials. A lively atmosphere is ok, but when 2 friends where there with me , it was a noisy Din! We'll go back, but not on a weekend or after 7:30 pm if we want any conversation with our food! Too bad!"
Dined on 4/26/2014
Fun night out with close friends.
Delicious food (top-shelf oysters!) and our server was incredibly knowledgeable of both food and drink."
Dined on 4/25/2014
Foundry is a little more on the
upscale side of dining options is Davis, which makes it unique. The food was great and so was the service. Also made a special request that the table have view of TV's for the Bruins game and they followed through perfectly on that request. Very happy with the experience."
Dined on 4/22/2014
Loved everything about this place
but was amazed that total with tip was $70 a head. Would absolutely go back if it was $55 or less. "
Dined on 4/18/2014
We sent in a request for seating
and it was ready and waiting for us just as we had wanted. Waitress was lovely and attentive. Food was delicious. Gets loud and more difficult to talk, even in restaurant area, as the evening went along. But fun atmosphere and great time!"
Dined on 4/18/2014
Great beer/wine selection and
lively ambience. The bar gets crowded on weekend nights, but you can generally get a table without a problem. However, food here is pretty mediocre. I've tried various dinner options and have generally been unimpressed. Get dinner at one of the many other places in Davis, and come here for drinks after!"
Dined on 4/13/2014
Yes it was a Friday night and we
did not fit the demographic. By evening's end it was clear we were possibly the oldest folks in the place! Our group of three 60 year olds enjoys a lively place, but hoped to hear each other speak since one of our party only gets to Boston once a year or so. There was no trouble reducing our reservation as it became necessary to do so. My drink was strong and good; very glad there was Prosecco by the glass as well. Mussel appetizer was very good, the Artisanal cheese plate selection was fabulous. I had the Kabocha squash flatbread which was delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals as well."

We told the waiter that we were
under a time constraint. He came to our table periodically to give us an update on the time frame and reassured us that we wouldn't be late. Personal service!"
Dined on 4/11/2014
Great spot for casual meal. Great
burgers, pizzas, etc., but also delicious entrees and cocktails. I truly wish we had a place like this in our town."

We were a party of 8 on a busy Sat
night. Service was great and food was delicious. We will be back!"

Dinner before Johnny Clegg concert
- service was efficient, food was really good, our college kids enjoyed it, will definitely go back!"

It was a real treat to have such a
delicious dinner at the Foundry before heading over to the Somerville Theatre for a concert. The fact that we could make a reservation was a real plus. The Foundry came through all all fronts: great food and drink, fine service and fun atmosphere. We look forward to going back soon."
Dined on 4/4/2014
Tasty food, generous portions,
good prices, and prompt service. Great place for couple or a group."
Dined on 3/31/2014
Went here before a concert at
Somerville Theater. It has good reviews, but this is not the sort of place I enjoy. Loud beyond belief, food was eh, and service was borderline eh."
Dined on 3/29/2014
Food varies from good to very good
depending on visit and item. Good range of choices. Great balance to the large dining room-modern elegance with just enough pub feel to be relaxed. Great beer and cocktail selection! Service routinely good, occasionally excellent. Mussels and pork chop both recommended"
Dined on 3/28/2014
4 of us had a very pleasant
evening at the Foundry. Great selection of beers. Menu is somewhat predictable, but very well executed. I had an excellent burger, cooked just as I had requested. My friends had a pear salad with chicken, a pork chop and fish & crab cakes, all well liked."
Dined on 3/28/2014
First occasion dining here and I
was mightily impressed. The food was excellent. The staff was attentive to my extensive allergies w/ the Chef (Alex) coming out to the table in person to discuss what could be arranged for my meal - which was a wonderfully seared Cod over roasted Brussel Sprouts & Kale and french fries. Very tasty. All the other members of my party enjoyed their dishes as well, esp. the rich date cake w/ caramel sauce for dessert. We will definitely be returning."
Dined on 3/28/2014
Went with two friends for brunch.
They both enjoyed their meals, but mine was pretty bad. I ordered the Challah French Toast. There were 2 small pieces on a BIG white plate with nothing else. I took my first bite and realized it was pretty cold. I took a few more bites and realized it needed syrup. Since we hadn't seen the waitress since she took the order I asked the busboy for some syrup. Ten minutes later it arrived. It too was ice cold! Needless to say, the syrup only made the french toast even chillier. Now, I would have said something and asked if it could be reheated, but we NEVER saw the waitress again -- until it was time for the bill. Oh, did I mention my drink order was wrong too? If you don't know what a Greyhound is, ask!"
Dined on 3/23/2014
Excellent service even with the
bar packed with runners post-5K St. Patty's Race. Food was great. Drinks delicious. Service on the spot. Thanks Foundry! Making this a tradition!"
Dined on 3/16/2014
My husband and I have been to
Foundry many times and we usually sit at the bar. Since we had invited friends to join us, we booked a reservation and got a booth. The overall experience was fine, but it was clear from the beginning that our waiter despised us. We still don't know what we did to earn his ire. We saw him but a few times in the hours we were there, ordering food and drinks the whole time. He was curt and unpleasant, and never once smiled. Despite his behavior, we were polite and courteous since we know it was busy and his is not an east job. We also still tipped him generously. However, if we got him another time, I would most definitely request another waiter. He dimished the pleasure of our experience."
